- TriviaThe filming in the Himalayas took place for 4 months at a stretch and was kept very original and personal to Rohan's life. During the filming right from encountering natural roadblocks of nature to escaping wild life and camping in some of the most extreme zones and also exchanging and understanding culture of the locals who reside in extreme conditions where daily survival is in question. Way Back Home was a real time adventure for the crew which was of 2-3 people crew at max. Even during post production and getting the content licensed out was quite a unique challenge as financiers switched hands which makes a novel story for entrepreneurship and belief in ones product.

A wanderlust-feeding travelogue
The panoramic visuals of the Way Back Home series are captured for one real reason only, ie to let your jaws hit the floor.
With a refreshing take on the diversity, culture and the splendor of the Himalayan trails, Rohan Thakur and his compatriot-director Bharati Bahrani, set out to document their once-in-a-life expedition.
The backpacking duo hit Manali to begin their journey, and are greeted to snow-capped terrain that has brought life to a stand-still. Yet as they discover, all is not what it seems.
The mighty Himalayas are the preserve of age-old traditions, and cultural bonhomie that remains untouched by technology, and modernism. It is these narratives that are shared through the prism of fellow Himalayan natives, traveling vagabonds, and wanderlust filmmakers, that are captured in great authenticity.
The magic of snow-laden mountains of the Himalayas has rarely been captured in its raw, authentic, dominating form. The Way Back Home series takes on this responsibility with élan. With an original soundtrack series that can be described as haunting in the very least, this is by far the best travelogue series scripted for Indian television.
