Orchestrating Murder
wes-connors3 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
After police investigators collect evidence, attractive Devin Kelley (as Morgan Sher) cleans up crime scenes. Possessing a strong stomach and gag reflex, Ms. Kelly is able to mop up excessive human blood and squeegee splattered brains off windows. She cleans up well. Kelly is on the job when she meets likewise attractive homicide detective Aaron Ashmore (as Nick Hopewell). He also looks sexy in one of those neatly trimmed beards so popular in "Lifetime" TV movies today. He and she are mutually attracted, but Kelly has a hinted-at history of relationship problems. Due to her experience, Kelly is able to figure out how a bloody murder happened, by surveying the crime scene. She agrees to help Mr. Ashmore on his first case, but tells him no dating while they work together... When the case turns out to be a serial killer, how long can they keep from playing hide the pistol? For most of the first half, this is a very engaging movie. Director Michel Poulette works exceptionally well delivering the story, by Doug Barber and James Phillips; he manages his co-stars with skill. Obviously, Kelly and Ashmore have the kind of chemistry that could sustain a TV series, or more movies. The story wisely keeps them out of bed for a sustained period of time. This is the secret appeal of many screen team-ups (and buddy movies); after they do it, we're done. The second half of the unfortunately titled "Swept Under" aka "Maid for Murder" is interesting, but much less satisfying. The co-starring couple are shifted from murder mystery to near horror. To their credit, they and Mr. Poulette keep you interested through an uncomfortable tone shift and choppy ending. ***** Swept Under/Maid for Murder (12/6/2015) Michel Poulette ~ Devin Kelley, Aaron Ashmore, Stephen Bogaert, Brett Ryan

Wow, I gave a made for TV Movie a 7..... NEVER Happens
walleye-425375 March 2018
This was a pretty decent made for tv movie. It screams as if it was an Ovary Channel Movie, WE, Lifetime, etc. The acting was good, the plot even better. I would like to have seen a different ending, but the one they did kind of left it open for a possible sequel. If they made one, I would watch it.

I am a big fan of Devin Kelley. She is a natural beauty that can totally make the "Hot" factor work in sweats, plaid shirt and no makeup. Hey, she's a Minnesota Gal and being a Minnesotan myself, many of them can pull that off. Not to mention Big Clomping Snow Boots, a Parka and a Furry Bombers Hat. Devin is a great actress and was really good as Julie Sullivan in the tv show, Frequency that got canceled after only one season. Too bad, it was a good movie and tv show.

This movie is worth the watch if you like a bit of a mystery with your almost love affair type movie.

Pretty good for a TV movie
emman505013 September 2017
I watched it last night on TV and it's just like the other reviewers said, an above average TV movie that's worth your time. The 2 protagonists are good and I'd like to see them again in other films. The characters act smart and behave like normal people, the story is well written and interesting, the acting is OK, in a few words give this movie a chance if you like thrillers and you won't be disappointed.

Above-average TV movie
blanche-218 May 2017
This 2015 film is Canadian and also called "Maid for Murder."

The movie stars Devin Kelley, Aaron Ashmore and Stephen Bogaert. Morgan Sher (Devin Kelley) is a crime scene cleaner. On a job, she finds evidence that the police left behind which may help find the murderer. She works with a brand new detective, Nick (Aaron Ashmore), who has been assigned to the case.

The murder that took place where Morgan cleaned was done by a serial killer, and there is a strange ritual that takes place before the person kills.

It takes Nick a long while to find a clue that can help him.

Very good film but a poor ending that absolutely would not have happened. The story was intriguing nonetheless, part mystery, part a little horror.

stick with it

Morgan Sher (Devin Kelley) is a veteran crime scene cleaner. She's seen it all. On the other hand, it's the first murder case for police detective Nick Hopewell (Aaron Ashmore). Morgan finds a piece of evidence left behind. The lead investigator refuses to look at it as it would make him look bad. Hopewell recruits Sher for help in the serial killer case.

The first half is an inferior cop and civilian duo TV show. There are plenty of those on network TV. Quite frankly, it's a barely fail as a TV movie at first. It's all been done before. The second half does something different. In order to do that different well, it needs to set up the premise a lot better in the first half. I can see many giving up on this movie early. I would suggest sticking with it. I still think the premise needs some work and the production is only slightly better than the general Lifetime movies.

Good twist, good TV movie.
deloudelouvain11 June 2020
When I was watching Swept Under I constantly had the feeling I was watching a series, one of those televion shows about a couple detectives solving murders and mysteries. There is nothing wrong with that even though it's supposed to be a movie and not a series. But for a TV movie Swept Under is certainly worth a watch. It has a good twist that not a lot of people will see coming, I sure didn't, and that's a good thing, nothing wrong with a good element of surprise to make it interesting. The acting wasn't always on top, but nothing cringing to watch either so that wasn't an issue. Overal it's a good mystery thriller, not good enough for theaters but certainly good enough for a TV movie.

Not a spoiler
nemosmokes6 September 2018
The big hurdle in the first twenty minutes for me, having watched Dexter three times through, is they name the lead Morgan and she could easily play Deb in some kind of spin off prequel series. It's extra tough since the movie is all about police work. I keep waiting for Doaks to walk in on a precinct scene. Good flick, slightly cookie cutter.

actors good, plot bad
laineandrews27 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Caught this on late night TV. Beginning was intriguing enough to stop me dialing around. The two leads were good actors, but then the plot holes began after the twist. The rookie homicide detective and supposedly upstanding moralist turned out to be a pretty poor detective and a hypocrite when it came to ethics.

Spoilers After basically deputizing the cleaning lady as his helper he made the morally questionable decision of treating her as his girlfriend, then continued to blab to her about the case he's trying to resolve using police resources. He can't even put two and two together when his police badge goes missing temporarily and a suspect who insisted on seeing the badge before unlocking his door is killed at home without forced entry. And perhaps the "bad" cops he ratted on in his back story might have something to say about his letting a known serial murderer go after insisting he'd turn his own mother in if she broke the law. But of course, he wasn't sleeping with his mother....

A **** movie
Kay77726 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Where to begin? The beginning seemed promising, but the movie (or Devin Kelly) quickly grew tiresome. The female lead was not relatable or appealing; even after her backstory was revealed, she was still unlikable.

The premise was interesting, but the script just didn't deliver. If it hadn't been for Aaron Ashmore, whose work I like, I'd have given up on this one 30 minutes in.

The ending was unrealistic and and out of character, a lousy ending to a movie that never worked.

So many head twists and turns its better than any rollercoaster ride
Ed-Shullivan20 September 2018
Impressive for a made for TV movie. This would have done well in a chain of movie theaters and we got to see it for free on TV. What a bargoon!!!!

The overall story is of a post murder scene cleaner named Morgan Sher (Devin Kelley) who gets hired by the local police stations to clean up the blood and brain matter left on walls and furniture from residences after the murder scene is cleared by the detectives, impresses one of the new detectives named Nick Hopewell (Aaron Ashmore).

So the murder scene cleaner Morgan and the novice detective Nick start discussing the murder scene and what may have caused the murder in the first place. Before you know it, the two new friends start finding more dead bodies which seem to all have a few common elements to their murder scenes.

I don't want to spoil any of the better than average story line with its twists and turns but suffice to say the film is well worth watching. In fact I will be looking for it in the future to watch it again.

I love a good mystery/suspense/thriller and SWEPT UNDER fits that bill. i give this made for TV movie a solid 8 out of 10 rating

Ludicrous Plot Twist Ruins Promising Story
grafengestrom-9622223 March 2021
Another example of a third-rate, low-budget made-for-TV movie from Canadian production company Incendo. Despite fine performances by the lead actors Devin Kelley (crime scene cleaner) and Aaron Ashmore (homicide detective), the film is destroyed midway through when an absurd plot twist undermines the narrative. Rather than describing the event which would be the ultimate spoiler, it is better to advise potential viewers to avoid this TV movie that has been churned out as a purely commercial product to play in markets as filler to be shown at 2 am on Bulgarian TV.

But perhaps what is most disappointing is that there was interesting chemistry between the two leads and that is what draws audiences to follow an otherwise routine murder investigation drama. But any viewer identification with the budding romance between Morgan and Nick is utterly destroyed by the truly sophomoric plot twist. Sad!

Good Plot, Awful Acting

This movie had great possibilities but was fell short by bad acting. In places the dialogue was painful to endure. Watch a different movie if you can.

Warning: Spoilers
Ok so from the moment Morgan had a casual one night stand and sneaked out the next morning I despised her. No matter her back story what she did was unjustifiable! Killing her assaulters in cold blood. And in the end dumb (so-called a good cop with integrity) letting her get away, even though he yammered on about bringing people to justice! The acting overall was good. But the plot and premise appalling. Morgan did not win one iota of sympathy from me!

SWEEP UNDER THE RUG AND SKIP IT
toralyoshida31 May 2021
Not a real movie here. Go else where.. It's more about a platonic stupid relationship than about a crime movie. A little nice twist at the end but that's it.

Enthralling
garyoa15 April 2017
Fascinating story, interesting plot twists. Not to mention incredibly brilliant acting. More or less a dark comedy that turns darker. I stumbled across this one by accident and seemed it may prove interesting. Well, it was much more than that. A real pleasure to watch actors actually acting. They make it look easy.

Not though not Bobby Drake but I still want my Iceman movie
ThunderKing613 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
About: A Lady Punisher goes on a ramapage for revenge against men who violated her.

Story: Engaging. Almost caught me off guard.

Production: Decent acting from the lady female. Iceman's brother did a good job. Great pacing and a twist that you knew was coming.

Highlight: Nothing really

Soundtrack: No problems

Main Intelligence: 9

Unworthiness Level: 1

Should you watch this? Yes. It's a good TV movie. It doesn't involve head aching cgi or over the top violence. Young and old can enjoy this movie. I watched these types of movies as a child and I came out alright. If children can't handle this, then I feel sorry for them.

Good beginning middle and end
phd_travel5 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
A crime scene cleaner (remember Amy Adams in Sunshine Cleaners) is god at piecing together crimes from her experience. A new homicide investigator enlists her help and they fall in love. There is a nice chemistry between the leads Devin Kelly and Aaron Ashmore. The crime involves the world of classical music which is a bit different.

There is an unexpected twist in the middle I didn't see coming and a feel good satisfying ending.

Worth a watch.

Clever Scripting and Well-Developed Characters
lavatch31 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
For the first half of the film, "Swept Under" (a.k.a., "Maid for Murder") unfolds like a typical mystery with a dash of romance thrown in. Then, the screenwriters offer up a jaw-dropping plot twist and proceed to have everything make sense by the climatic ending.

This superbly crafted film focuses on the relationship of a scrupulously honest police detective (Nick) and a meticulous "cleaner" (Morgan) who succeeds the forensic crew in tidying up crime scenes.

Nick recognizes that Morgan has outstanding investigative instincts and recruits her as an assistant. A romantic connection soon develops. Then...the rugs is pulled out from the standard thriller, and the complex backdrop for the murders consumes the final portion of the film.

"Swept Under" is an example of how a made-for-television picture may have all of the ingredients of a big-budget feature film...and even more. The acting, directing, and, above all, the screenwriting make this film incomparable in the constituent elements of character and narrative.
