Ashley 'Ash' J. Williams: Wow. Last time I was here with a girl, I was hopin' to get laid. Didn't quite work out that way. I cut my hand off with a chainsaw, though. It was a fun weekend.

Wow. Last time I was here I was hopin' to get laid. Didn't quite work out that way. I did cut my own hand off with a chainsaw, though. Fun weekend.
Cabin in the woods. And to be back in the cabin is fun.
Lots of fun.
The only thing that could be said against this episode is that Ash's loneliness, which I expected to be longer and to bring us a showdown with his hand, is ended quite soon, as Amanda arrives to the cabin just seconds after he does. On the other hand (no pun intended), it was already there too and don't worry, it has something to say too. And to any fan, what it says may be the best it could say.
Apart from that...
Let's say that if you are watching Ash vs Evil Dead because of the movies you will have your good dose of nostalgia, not rose-tinted, more deep-red-tinted, and which is not just for the sake of it, but brings plot development. Ditching almost everything to center on Ash and the tricks the place plays on people is great. Quite a lot of things happen in this episode, and you will have everything, from a little bit dirty, to a little bit violent. The visit to the cabin actually brings focus and tension to the story, a sense of fulfillment, in some way, as Ash is back home. The atmosphere is the best since the show started and on top of the gore, action and humor, it brings a good dose of dread.
And it leaves two episodes to the mayhem to continue, as the last part of the episode lets everything ready for an amazing ending to the first season of Ash vs Evil Dead.
