Exit Through the Chop Shop (2014)

This 25-minute documentary is really just an interview with director David Schmoeller who discusses his early work at film school and how this got him to direct TOURIST TRAP. The making of TOURIST TRAP is what this really is but only Schmoeller is actually talked to. He starts off by discussing his days at film school and how he knew several people who wound up working on Tobe Hooper's THE Texas CHAIN SAW MASSACRE. From here he talks about how TOURIST TRAP found money to be made and how both Jack Palance and Gig Young turned down the role that eventually went to Chuck Connors. The director also talks about the casting of Jocelyn Jones and Tanya Roberts. From here he talks about a wide range of subjects including the problem with the PG rating. He talks about how this really hurt the film at the box office because people wanted a R-rated movie but he also discusses how it helped TV sales. Overall this is an extremely good interview with the director telling plenty of great stories that fans of the film should enjoy. Once wishes that some of the cast members had been interviewed but there's still plenty of great information shared here.
