This is another web series from Adam Green that I really like, it's another documentary series buts it's one that's actually worth watching.
I really like about it is it's premise, it's basically an anthology horror comidy but here it's all based on small experenses from actors, producers, director, just anyone in the entertainment department. Personally I think it's a cool idea it's something different in anthologies because each of the stories are true.
How it's done is unique, really like that it's all done in black and white which gives sort of a throw back feel but also sort of adds a dark atmosphere to the stories told. Another thing to that throwback feel is the title graphic as well as some of that music before the story, sort of like something you'd hear from 50's drive in films.
Corri English is a fun host for the show, I'll admit she really looks good in the black dress and glasses get up. But I really love how she plays it straight when ever she presents one tale after another she tells it super seriously which kinda makes it funny. But also those segments are a character of it's own when there is a frak up of some sort in them, how the heck anyone can frak it up in something so simple is anyone's guess.
Each of the stories aren't reinactiments but are actually told from the people themselves. We simply see them sitting on a chair, with some circular spotlight shining in from of them which looks like that circular graphic from "Looney Tunes" and see them tell it as it is. Personally I think this is a really cool idea, this easily could of been an audioplay series, seeing this makes me wonder why the hell "Big Finish Productions" hasn't made a horror anthology series yet.
Personally I'm glad we don't see any reenactments otherwise the stories wouldn't of been effective and personal. But most importantly we actually get to use our imaginations, which makes it all the better because we can picture in our minds whatever we want from those stories.
The stories themselves aren't exactly scary per say, in a way most of them are actually funny because their true. We've all had our share of snaffoos, something in our lives happens that is out of our control as if the stars aren't allied right or the universe isn't moving correctly.
Most of these experences we've had made us experience a certain degree of fear for the moment, wherether the possibility of death, harm, or just seer embarrassment. Of course in the end none of these things are really that big of a deal but still you have to admit what you felt in the moment was real it was defendantly real for the storytellers.
Though there are some stories that are serious which I'll admit are a bit scarry because those are some real bad sittuations. But those stories go to show that those sittuations can happen to anyone and even were not alone in that matter.
The other thing that's good are each of the storyteller guests themselves whom all seem to be having a good time telling the story and are being themselves honest. Each episode that comes is always a mystery from what kind of story we will hear but also who is going to tell it; I'm honestly wondering if in next season we'll see and hear horror alumi Danalle Harris, Felissa Rose, Tony Todd, etc. The possibilities are almost endless and depending on whether they have stories to tell.
Truth can be scarier than fiction, well kinda.
