- TRES CAFÉS is a trilogy which attempts to examine, through different eclectic encounters, how appearances can be deceiving and the consequences of ensuing prejudice(s) regarding stereotype, all tied together by a common setting. - TRES CAFÉS is a short-film trilogy which attempts to examine, through different more or less humorous encounters, how appearances can indeed be deceiving and the consequences of ensuing prejudice(s) regarding stereotype, all tied together by a common setting. While the three short films work independently from each other as unique pieces of storytelling, they complement one another and hence benefit from being shown together as originally intended. CAFÉ Y APATÍA is a satire which turns stereotypes on its head when two desperate souls - a young man lacking work and a middle-aged waitress lacking compassion - meet at a café which time (and patrons) seem to have forgotten. Through dark humor, current gender roles get an overhaul as questions are raised about our past, present and future in this first short in the TRES CAFÉS trilogy. CAFÉ SIN LECHE, the second installment in the trilogy, takes a lighter look at the consequences of stereotyping in a Chaplin/Keaton-inspired silent comedy short about a man trying his best to get a coffee from a geriatric waiter at a café, and pick up a young female patron in the process. Except that he needs to get her attention first - and good luck at that! CAFÉ Y COMPAÑÍA, the last in the trilogy, takes a middle of the road approach in setting just the right tone of comedy and drama when dealing with four girlfriends who use this out of the way café as the meeting place for their regular girls' night out in a particularly crucial day when revelations will be made and had. With engaging levity and frankness, they discuss relevant issues affecting their lives as women of today - from age to motherhood, power to love - as femininity and feminism come to clash in this heartwarming short.—Hector Patrick Pino
