- Following Treville's funeral the musketeers survive an attempt by Grimaud to kill them when their garrison is torched, leaving many casualties, and gunpowder and weapons stolen. To lure the musketeers into a trap Grimaud takes hostages including Sylvie but the four comrades stage a rescue, and the queen and Dauphin are restored to the palace with Milady as the royal spy master, her first task being to take care of Gaston. However the mortally wounded Grimaud escapes and the musketeers must stop him from blowing up the city with the stolen gunpowder.—don @ minifie-1
- After the deal with Lorraine, the rebel siege of Paris seems hopeless, but after the funeral of Treville, who contracted it, Grimaud manages with the remaining mercenaries and red guard to set fire to the musketeers garrison. The trio was outside and saves a few loved ones from the flames, while loyal cadets are welcomed in the dwindling ranks if they survive. The quartet frantically searches for the missing arms and especially a lot of gun powder, duly fearing a major attack. Grimaux fails in setting a trap for them by taking hostages. Queen mother Anne is installed as queen regent, promoting Aramis to prime minister, Athos to captain of the royal guard and Milady to royal spy, who deals with Gaston in her gruesome way. Accompanying the dauphin's parade to be crowned puppet king in Notre Dame cathedral, they work out Grimaus set his deadly last trap in the basement.—KGF Vissers
