DC Studios is developing Booster Gold as a TV series for Max. While rumours of production beginning imminently appear to be incorrect, it seems casting may be heating up as the Dcu readies itself for a superhero unlike any other.
In the comics, Mike Carter was a college football star in the 25th Century who ruined his career by wagering money on his own games. Forced to take a job as a security guard in the Metropolis Space Museum, he stole future tech to travel back in time and become a "superhero" (all while hoping to monetise being a good guy).
He'd later become a genuine time-travelling superhero and is a character who might be a game-changer for the Dcu. While casting such a complex character won't be easy, we have some suggestions which could do Booster justice both on streaming and in theaters.

It’s little wonder why French president Emmanuel Macron was visibly moved as he inducted Mediawan CEO Pierre-Antoine Capton into France’s Legion of Honor last October, calling the exec “the ultimate French success story.”
In a country rarely known to promote social mobility, Capton-esque career trajectories are scarce. A self-made entrepreneur born into a middle-class Normandy family, Capton began his professional life as a teen with an entry-level internship, eschewing elite universities, making the exec a rare bird among France’s top media execs. For all that, Capton remains more humble than flamboyant, letting his track record speak for itself.
In 2015, he co-founded Mediawan with investment banker Matthieu Pigasse and telecom billionaire Xavier Niel, and since then the group has traversed a tumultuous period marked by a pandemic, strikes and economic recessions by growing stronger.

Zac Efron is following The Iron Claw with a new Ti West movie, based on the graphic novel Night Business. More on the film here.
It looks like we may have lost Ti West to the 1980s – at least for a while longer – if a recent report from Daniel Richtman is true.
Richtman is claiming that West’s next film will be Night Business, a 1980s set trashy thriller based on the graphic novel of the same name. The X and Pearl director has recently completed MaXXXine, the third film in his era-hopping horror series. MaXXXine releases in July and is also partly about a serial killer at large in 1980s Los Angeles.
While Ti West has publicly stated that another film in that series could yet happen, his next project looks more likely to be Night Business. Here’s the synopsis, as picked up by World Of Reel:

This year's Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire wasn't exactly a monster hit, but it did manage to take in close to $555 million worldwide on a reported $135 million budget. Now, we have word that a sequel is officially in development, and Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have enlisted a writer to pen the script.
According to THR, Dave Callaham has signed on to write the untitled movie. No plot details have been disclosed, but it's assumed that both the King of the Monsters and the mighty Monarch of Skull Island will return to face a new, potentially world-ending threat.
Callaham has previously worked on several major studio tentpoles, including the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot, Wonder Woman 1984, Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. He also has some prior experience with Big G, having written the early drafts and received story by...

Less than one month after releasing in theaters, Universal has announced that their vampire ballerina horror movie Abigail will be headed home to “Premium VOD” this week.
We’ve learned this morning that you’ll be able to buy ($24.99) or rent ($19.99) Abigail at home beginning tomorrow, May 7, 2024, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
Abigail is the third vampire movie from the Universal Monsters brand in the past year, the film scaring up $34.7 million at the worldwide box office these past few weeks. One of the most fascinating elements about the Assassin’s Creed franchise is how with every instalment, Ubisoft takes the player on a journey to experience a completely new and fresh country. And the icing on the cake for gamers who also happen to be fans of the popular Game of Thrones series is how the next game might just be set in the place where a lot of the shooting for the HBO’s show took place.
This Ubisoft franchise might soon be in a crossover with Game of Thrones indirectly
As many diehard fans would know, much of the shooting for the mentioned series was hosted nowhere else but in Malta, an Island country located in Southern Europe, and a place that has been one of the top tourist destinations ever since, especially for Game of Thrones fans.

Who would have thought that a superhero series could look like a mix of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? It would seem that in the superhero world, where the game was turned upside down many years ago by Daredevil and Jessica Jones, nothing could surprise the viewers.
But there is a man named Noah Hawley, who has already managed to turn the near-perfect Coen Brothers movie Fargo into an excellent modern series of the same name. But Hawley didn't stop there – he made a show from the X-Men universe that doesn't play by the rules of the genre, and follows its own strange logic.

Right now, Far Cry is currently one of Ubisoft’s longest-running franchises and is still getting new games every couple of years. Ubisoft tries to rediscover it; they try to give gamers a world that is worth exploring and characters worth interacting with. This legacy of having interesting characters, specifically an interesting villain, came from Far Cry 2.
Back then, it was the pinnacle of what was possible if developers invested time in some exciting new technologies. Dunia Engine was a one-of-a-kind game engine; Jackal was a one-of-a-kind villain; and that game’s world was unlike anything players had explored before. But its director explains that the inspiration for that came from a very unexpected place.

When the first installment in this franchise was launched back in 2004, it was developed by Crytek and published by Ubisoft.

While hopes for a fresh Watch Dogs release have been officially extinguished by Ubisoft, the recent release of Watch Dogs: Tokyo, a manga based on the premises of the popular franchise might just be enough to bring the fans together again and demand another video game release, based in world’s most crowded city this time around.
Watch Dogs: Tokyo is a new manga series
The new manga is exactly what many players needed at the time, especially those who have been following the game for a long time, and are disheartened by the discontinuation of the series’ production.
Watch Dogs: Tokyo – Is The Franchise Finally Coming Back?
It was nearly a decade ago that the first ever Watch Dogs title was released for gamers to enjoy, bringing with itself a lot of mechanics that were never seen before in the industry, and the potential for just as many to be introduced in the future.

Breaking the long-standing curse of disappointing video game adaptations, Fallout and The Last of Us have now attained a gold-standard status amongst gamers being delivered faithful small-screen versions of games they pour hours into. This comes after years of inaccurate and shoddy live-actions that have left a stain on the industry, and for viewers and gamers alike.

While we’re still waiting for Resident Evil to give us our favorite Backstreet Boy-looking Leon Kennedy in a perfectly adapted series, and debating whether a triangular…chest is indeed peak Lara Croft, there are some games that deserve another go— Not as a game since they continually bombed, but as a TV show, since their stories can be done a lot more justice.
And while Ubisoft has broken our hearts with a terrible Assassin’s Creed adaptation, there is one more game that is now thought to be long dead.

There is not much that one can do to infuriate a game developer, but one thing that can put the whole studio on the edge is a leak of their upcoming video game. This is something that has been happening frequently in recent times, and Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs 3 was no different when it was time for the title’s official announcement.
Watch Dogs 3’s mechanics were leaked a few days before the game’s official announcement
It was merely a few days before the official announcement of the title when details about it were leaked on the internet, including how the player would be able to practically play as anyone you see in the game’s world. Being one of the featured mechanics in the game, it would have been infuriating for the developers to see it revealed early and by someone else rather than Ubisoft itself.

Anyone who has seen "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" — and going by the film's impressive box-office numbers, that oughta be most of you out there — knows that Dan Stevens is an absolute delight in it. To be fair, this isn't a huge surprise, as anyone who's been following Stevens' on-screen career knows that the actor is routinely a highlight of everything he appears in, whether he's the lead in something like FX's "Legion" and "GxK" director Adam Wingard's "The Guest" or (and sometimes especially) when he's appearing as a supporting character in films like "Colossal" or this month's "Abigail."
His role of Trapper in "GxK" seems particularly special, however, given that Stevens isn't merely playing a comic relief character. Instead, he's some unique combination of a wonder-filled adventurer, an animal-loving veterinarian, and a laid-back hippie dude. That's just one way of describing Trapper, however — Stevens himself has...

Back in 2012, Ubisoft decided to show their fans an incredible new game called Watch Dogs. This game was to start a brand-new IP featuring a protagonist who could hack everything he could see. The first thing gamers noticed about that game was its visuals. Then came the gameplay: a character running around a city, hacking traffic signals and bridges using his cell phone. It looked just incredible.
Ubisoft saw much promise in this new game, and fans were pretty hyped too. This game seemed like one’s ultimate power fantasy had come to life. Eventually, the game was released to a mixed-to-positive response from fans as well as critics. This is how the Watch Dogs franchise started, but no one saw it ending so soon.

South African production house Nthibah Pictures isn’t afraid to take risks. The company, which was established in 2018, is coming off the back of fully-financing upcoming big-budget, high-octane genre title Boy Kills World, which opens in the U.S. today (April 26) across nearly 2,500 screens. The film, which is being released by Lionsgate’s sister label Roadside Attractions, stars Bill Skarsgård and is produced with Sam Raimi and is, says Nthibah Pictures’ chairman Wayne Fitzjohn and CEO Simon Swart, one of the “biggest-budgeted” titles to come out of South Africa.
“Not only is it the biggest budget from a South African production company by some margin, but also we’ve doubled down on the P&a,” says Fitzjohn.
“We raised the P&a [for the release] as well,” says Swart of the Moritz Mohr-directed project, which was shot entirely in South Africa. The film centers on Skarsgård’s Boy, who vows revenge after his...

A previously reliable leaker of Ubisoft info claims that open-world hacking videogame franchise Watch Dogs has been quietly shelved.
In videogame terms, things have been rather quiet on the Watch Dogs front in recent years, with the most recent title in the open-world hacker franchise, Watch Dogs: Legion, getting its last update in January 2022.
There may be a good reason for this. According to Twitter/X user j0nathan (via Push Square), who has form when it comes to leaking Ubisoft information, the publishing giant has quietly shelved Watch Dogs. In the process, the rumour goes, it also cancelled some sort of battle royale mode or spin-off, which possibly would have been added to Watch Dogs: Legion in an update.
“Watch Dogs is basically finished at this point,” j0nathan wrote (as translated from French via Google). “The flop of Legion destroyed the licence’s projects (including a pretty original battle royale).”

Dan Stevens is having the time of his life as Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has become a big hit for Warner Bros and Legendary. His latest release Abigail has also received great reviews from critics and audiences, with many praising his performance. His versatility in switching from a delightfully charming role to an intense individual in the two films is impressive, to say the least.

Watch Dogs: Legion released in 2020 and became the worst-selling game in the series. And that, according to a new rumor, killed “and buried” the entire franchise.
Popular leaker j0nathan posted the information on Twitter, which loosely translates to:
“Watch Dogs is normally dead and buried. Legion’s failure destroyed the projects on the license (including a fairly original Battle Royale).”
Watch Dogs est normalement mort et enterré. Le bide de Legion a détruit les projets sur la licence (dont un Battle Royale assez original)
— j0nathan (@xj0nathan) April 21, 2024
The original Watch Dogs released in 2014 and reportedly went on to sell over 10 million copies. Watch Dogs 2 came out two years later and had sold over 10 million units by 2020. However, Watch Dogs: Legion, which released in 2020, did not perform as per Ubisoft’s expectations despite selling 1.9 million units in three days of launch. Going by this data, the series being cancelled sounds possible.

It’s been less than 12 years since Dan Stevens raised a middle finger to the British aristocracy, quitting “Downton Abbey” as the show neared its Emmy-amassing zenith and setting sail for America with his family. As he admits, he had “absolutely no idea” what was going to happen to him.
“There was no roadmap,” the 41-year-old actor explains with frank honestly about a decision that, at the time, was considered by many to be sheer lunacy. “I left ‘Downton’ with a blank slate. It was just, ‘I think I want to do other things.’ But I didn’t know what that looked like.”
To have an idea of what that currently looks like, anyone need just head to their nearest cinema, where Stevens is going head-to-head against himself in two of the biggest studio releases of the season. In what has become something of a calling card for the Brit...

It’s like everyone is planning a battle royale game for their franchises, and Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs is no different. Well, ‘would have been no different’ is more appropriate, as the studio’s battle-royale game will likely never see the light of day. After all, a new game can’t be released from an already-dead franchise.
This might be news to some fans, but others would have seen the writing on the walls a while ago. While some franchises experience a natural death with the conclusion of their stories, others are forcibly interred due to their lack of profitability. It’s disappointing to see the franchise fall into the latter category, with a potential title that could have saved the series.

It seems Ubisoft just can’t catch a break these days. The company is constantly in the news, more often for controversy than most other gaming studios. Whether it’s for a title that missed the mark or a bad business decision, gamers are using everything they can to call out the company.
The issue is that Ubisoft is giving these gamers ammo to use against them. Such as the latest confirmation from an insider, which, if true, could turn a lot of people against the studio. By burying a beloved franchise after creating lackluster sequels, the studio better have a strong PR team.

The Dragon Ball saga has left fans mesmerized to the core through the original manga created by Akira Toriyama sensei and the anime adaptations that followed. However, despite being such a massive fan-favorite that almost everyone loves, the story failed to deliver perfectly in its first and last Hollywood live-action adaptation to date from 2009, which starred Justin Chatwin in the lead.
Dragonball Evolution (2009).
In fact, one of the most hated and criticized elements of the Dragonball Evolution film was the fact that Chatwin was chosen to play Son Goku, whose performance also didn’t sit well with fans. But that wasn’t the worst part, for from the plot elements to the superpowers to the way the animated characters were brought to life, Db fans were met with the worst nightmare of their imagination.

Jonathan Nolan’s Fallout adaptation is a success for many reasons, the least of all being its unique sense of identity separate from the games despite being true to the source material in every respect. It is this individuality of the Amazon original series that allows some room for creative liberty while Nolan and his writers’ room build a megalomaniacal post-apocalyptic world spread over the vast wasteland of America.
Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean in Fallout [Credit: Amazon MGM Studios]Before veteran gamers and inexperienced fans flock to Amazon to tout their opinion on the adaptation, it might be wise to learn about the true extent of what Nolan has in store for his viewers. A Reddit fan theory that has recently been making the rounds might just shock some Fallout loyalists into a state of awe for its M. Night Shyamalan-esque twist waiting in the wings of the series’ Season 2.

At its core, the Alien franchise is easy to understand: people meet aliens, bad things happen. It’s a lot harder to keep track of when exactly these things occur.
Alien takes place in 2122, Aliens 57 years later, and then Alien 3 happens shortly afterwards. But then things get weird. Alien Resurrection jumps ahead 202 years, Prometheus begins sometime in prehistory and then in 2093, and Alien: Covenant is in 2104. Alien: Romulus will squeeze in between the first two movies, around 2142, which is 20 years after the original. And that’s not even going through the Alien vs Predator flicks or the countless games, books, and comics.
Then there’s the new Alien TV series coming from creator Noah Hawley, best known for the Fargo show and Legion. Deadline has confirmed the movie takes place about 30 years before the events of Alien, or as FX chief John Landgraf put it to THR, “near the...

There’s a lot going on in the world of Alien at the moment. The original classic is returning to theaters, for starters, and the Xenomorphs will be fighting Marvel’s superheroes in the upcoming mashup comic Aliens vs. Avengers. Of course, the main event for 2024 is Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus, a brand new big screen movie set between Alien and Aliens!
With so much going on, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that Disney is also working on an “Alien” television series, in the works for FX from creator Noah Hawley (“Legion”).
The Alien franchise’s first ever television series is likely to arrive sometime in 2025, set to be the first story in the franchise that takes place on Earth, roughly 70 years in the future.
FX teases, “Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth.”
So what’s the latest on the “Alien” TV series?...

On April 5th, 20th Century Studios gave a theatrical release to The First Omen, which serves as a prequel to the 1976 horror classic The Omen (watch it Here) – and the movie was surprisingly well-received, with JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray giving it an 8/10 review and Tyler Nichols writing an article about why it works so well. The movie hasn’t been burning up the box office charts; made on a budget of $30 million, it has only pulled in $36 million so far. But if a sequel were to get the greenlight, director Arkasha Stevenson knows one subject she would want to cover in the follow-up: the mystery of the jackal.
In the original The Omen, we were told that the Antichrist was born of a jackal. The First Omen digs deeper into his parentage, letting us know that it wasn’t quite as simple (although very strange) as it appeared to be in the original movie,...

Exclusive: The First Omen director and co-scribe Arkasha Stevenson and the pic’s screenwriter/EP Tim Smith have signed with WME for representation in all areas.
The news comes in the wake of the 20th Century Studios’ prequel to the 1976 theatrical release grossing north of $35M at the global box office through its first ten days of release, as well as 80% certified fresh with Rotten Tomatoes critics. Stevenson and Smith wrote the screenplay with Keith Thomas off a story by Ben Jacoby, based on the characters by David Seltzer.
The duo partnership first came to public attention with the short film Pineapple, which made its debut at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. Under Stevenson’s direction and Smith’s production acumen, Pineapple was not only a festival standout but also a concept robust enough to be sold as a TV series to AMC, for which Stevenson and Smith collaboratively penned the pilot episode.

Dan Stevens’ Legion was one show that was liked by fans in many ways. However, its end was one they weren’t so ready for. Deadpool 3 is turning out to be an action-packed multiversal flick that fans have nothing but anticipation for.

Horror has been a real anchor for the box office in the pandemic era, with franchises like "Halloween" and originals like "M3GAN" managing to break through in a meaningful way. Now, Universal Pictures is looking to strike with something original while also playing in familiar territory with "Abigail." The upcoming horror film deals with vampires, something Universal has done dating back to the original "Dracula" more than 90 years ago. But this one comes with a pretty unique spin on the tried-and-true genre. The question is, will it be enough to motivate moviegoers to turn up for a vampire movie? Or will this be another unfortunate misfire for the studio?

It’s a bit of a mixed bag being a nun in The First Omen. One minute you’re enjoying smutty talk with the sisters while peeling potatoes, or jumping on a trampoline smoking a cig, and the next you’re at the center of a terrifying conspiracy which could change the world as we know it.

Get ready for an absolute blood bath, sometimes literally, to get unleashed in the Radio Silence-directed Abigail. Also cue the blood canons: Bloody Disgusting can exclusively debut Abigail‘s “It’s a Blood Bath!” featurette, giving a closer look at the carnage in store.
Releasing April 19, Abigail has been rated “R” for “Strong bloody violence and gore throughout, pervasive language and brief drug use.” And it’s not hard to see why, either.
Watch the featurette below to get a peek at the actors getting coated in blood and discussing the gory challenges of making Abigail.
In the film, “After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle,...

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains some spoilers for “The First Omen.”]
In the final act of Richard Donner’s iconic 1976 horror feature “The Omen,” star Gregory Peck — driven almost mad by the realization this his adopted son Damien is probably the Antichrist — heads to the Italian cemetery where Damien’s cursed biological mother is said to be buried. When he cracks open her grave, he’s not entirely surprised to find, not the skeleton of a young woman, but of a large jackal. After all, he’s already been told Damien is the product of a satanic breeding ritual between the devil himself and a willing female jackal.
What Arkasha Stevenson’s prequel feature “The First Omen” presupposes is: What if Damien’s mother wasn’t actually a jackal? In the pantheon of horror classic remakes and reimaginings — like “Halloween” and “The Exorcist,” to name some recent offerings — it’s a hell of a starting point. A smart one,...

Easter is behind us, we’re into a new month, and we’re fully into spring … and yet, the box office might be hitting another lull. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
There aren’t many scenarios where “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” doesn’t win its second weekend at #1. Even with a steep drop from its Easter opening, it should still be able to bring in another $30 million this coming weekend, which will be hard to beat.
It might be a coin flip on which of the other two new wide releases might do better, but I have to give a slight edge to “The First Omen,” 20th Century’s prequel to a horror franchise that began all the way back in 1976 with the horror film, “The Omen,” directed by Richard Donner pre-“Superman.” That led to two sequels in 1978 and 1981, even though the original...
