It might be said that this film has preached a sermon
deickemeyer1 November 2015
A homely story, showing how a young man went to a city and ultimately forgot his sweetheart and his mother, until suddenly restored to his senses by a telegram informing him his mother is dying. It reaches him at a revel at a gilded café, but so forcibly does it restore his former good sense that he immediately starts home. His arrival helps restore his mother to health. The attachment is renewed with the old sweetheart, and the ending is a happy one for everybody. The story is well told and some of the causes of forgetfulness are made plainly apparent. It might be said that the firm in producing this film has preached a sermon, but maybe that would be putting the case too strong. Nevertheless, the story is good, well told and will linger in the memory. - The Moving Picture World, January 28, 1911
