Look the documentary itself is well done, it's entertaining and engaging; however, I have to say with regards to the subject - the guys who assembled the jet pack - never really created ANYTHING! Ultimately, all they did was waste a lot of time and money - messing around with a bunch of stuff they knew wouldn't work - all the while waiting for someone else to actually build a small and light enough jet engine - to do what they needed. They invented nothing!

What makes a great documentary? Great documentaries move you. And baby, this moved me! Great documentaries have a story arc. In Own the Sky, you really feel the upward struggle to create the world's first will jet pack. Combined with sincere interviews and moving music, it doesn't get much better than this.

Wonderful exposition of the challenges and triumphs to bring genuinely new jet powered personal aviation to reality. This is the real deal of an idea and an ambition to do something years before the enabling technologies existed. A decades long overnight success.

This documentary is worth the watch, however the deeper I got into it, the more I realised this is just a rich kid's dream, funded by his parents.

This guy is risking his families wellbeing and his own life to fulfil his dream of flying, the way that he saw it being done on TV 30 years ago... Let's think about what was actually done here, the guy went through >20 engines to find the one that would work. He blew millions of dollars (by his own admission) to finally make the trip. If this man was rational he would have waited until science had the available tools to power his project. This documentary makes him look like the next Elon Musk, when really, this is a man who came from wealth, using the available resources to fund his childhood dream project.

Sorry but this doco failed to convince me that this was a good decision. In hindsight, yes, however this had all the hallmarks of a tragedy and seemingly got lucky because of an engine that was built by another company. Meh.
