First of all, the game IS among the better Star Wars Games for sure.
The game makes us play Rianna, the Twilek Rogue, and her Droid Zeelo. The background is dark schemes of the Empire being discovered on her early missions, and becoming of interest to the Rebel Alliance.
Rianna is an acrobatic cat-burglar type of Rogue. So besides her basic weaponry of Blaster Pistol and Punching Dagger Renamed, expect a LOT of jumping, climbing, and swinging. Some like it, but it can be a spoiler on occasion.
The PSP version I played did sadly not allow to modify her outfit or optics, as I knew it from Jedi Academy or the Sequel we played as Kyle Katarrn.
Gameplay is good, and quite fluent. The game can be played on easy difficulty, so us old ones can take a nap in the middle of a firefight, or on harder difficulties, which enforce you must be fast and precise, or willing to reload a lot.
One of the games strong sides is the Owner-Droid therapy included. Rianna's life, often literally, hangs on her Droid. The little Droid drags her through entire maps with obstacle-dodging giving us the time to see that all it needs for a happy Lifeform-Droid relationship is energy and timely repairs.
The gameplay and story worked. The achievement feeling of unlocking improved or additional gear does allow alternate approaches to enemies and some obstacles. Once we can turn Zeelo into a temporal energy shield many enemies can be killed by redirecting their own powerful shots back at them, to give an example. The Sniper Rifle allows us to neutralize Stormtroopers without the risk of being paralyzed and arrested! Arrest is Game Over.
A lot in the game depends on cooperation between Rianna and her Droid. In example protecting the Droid while it hacks a computer terminal, or making the Droid fly into maintenance tunnels to unlock doors for Rianna.
Some flaws of the game remain though: One can jump-off or fall into Certain Death on several occasions. And not even a female Ninja Master could jump in such high-heel-boots!!! The game forces jump & crawl where all others just walk the pedestrian way.
Some fights are lost due camera issues. Reload is usually possible, but younger gamers tend to be impatient.
The Story is authentic, but not really thrilling. A nice excuse to indulge a nostalgia for those who played predecessors of that game.
Fans of the older Star Wars games will most probably like it. But compared to more modern approaches like 'The Force Unleashed' it is a bit antiquated and outdated.
What I really missed were roleplaying stats, as there is a Star Wars Roleplaying Game and personalizing my Rogue would have increased the fun. Especially, when feats and skills allow to boost the own playing style. Still a good, older game with typical issues of its creation era!
