This article contains spoilers for X-Men ’97
X-Men ’97‘s Episode 9 saw Wolverine and Magneto play out one of their most brutal battles from the comics, which ended with Magneto ripping out the adamantium from Wolverine’s skeleton, leaving him on the brink of death. While this might be bringing a world of hurt to the character, the trajectory that is being set for the story might be great news for those who miss the X-Men’s resident Cajun.

Remy LeBeau tragically lost his life during the Sentinel assault on Genosha, which claimed the lives of a significant amount of mutants. In the most recent episode of the show, Wolverine found himself similarly indisposed after Magneto crippled the elder mutant. Given that these two characters become Horsemen of Apocalypse, a theory suggests it is quite possible it is something X-Men 97 is setting up.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Godzilla director Gareth Edwards will now take the helm of Universal Pictures' latest Jurassic World movie, but David Leitch was briefly attached to direct before deciding to part ways with the project.
At the time, we were told that Leitch stepped away after coming to the realization that his "creative input would be minimal due to the project’s fast-tracked status," and the filmmaker has now elaborated on his reasons for bailing on the film.
“We have the privilege of choice and that’s daunting,” he explained during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “And it’s true though, and we’ve kind of earned it, in terms of the movies that we’ve made and the successes they’ve had, and hopefully continued success, but to be asked to be in those worlds, you want to take those conversations seriously,...

Guys rock! Who doesn't love guys? Whether they're free or falling, guys really have a lot to offer. The latest guy movie on the scene is "The Fall Guy," starring Ryan Gosling as the titular guy: a professional stunt guy who accidentally becomes targeted by a bunch of criminal guys. The film was directed by David Leitch, who has previously directed other guys in movies like "John Wick," "Deadpool 2," and "Bullet Train."
After grossing $10.4 million on its opening day, including $3.15 million from Thursday previews, "The Fall Guy" is now on track to gross around $28 million in its opening weekend (per Variety). That puts it on par with another recent guy movie, "Free Guy," which starred Ryan Gosling's fellow Ryan (and fellow guy), Ryan Reynolds. "Free Guy" grossed $28.3 million upon its release in 2021 and went on to make $331 million worldwide -- a modest success against its $100-125 million budget.

Deadpool 2 revolved around the Merc with the Mouth's unlikely friendship with Cable, while Deadpool and Wolverine will put the spotlight on...well, the title gives it away!
There's been some confusion about Cable's absence given his use of time travel and Josh Brolin has said on multiple occasions he's not set to appear in the threequel. Now, though, the Dune: Part Two star seems to be hinting that he is the movie!
Interestingly, reshoots are currently taking place with the main intention being to add more cameos to Deadpool & Wolverine. Could that be what's led to Brolin's apparent return as Cable?
"I don't know where it puts me. I'd like to know, though, because a lot of people are asking. Was I there? Did I forget?" the actor teases in the video below. "You know, Ryan Reynolds hit me up the other day and he said, 'Congratulations on Dune.

The Fall Guy is kicking off summer movie season with a No. 1 debut at the box office this weekend, but it’s coming in below initial tracking. After earning $10.4 million on Friday, the feature is now projected to open to $28 million for the weekend, down from earlier tracking that had it in the $30-$35 million range.
The film earned an A- CinemaScore from audiences, so it’s possible word of mouth could help the movie make up ground in the coming weeks. The Fall Guy is said to have a net budget of $130 million when accounting for incentives for shooting in Australia. Overseas, it is projected to take in another $25.8 million over the weekend, which would bring its global haul to $65.4 million. (It already opened in some markets last week.)

The "X-Men" film franchise was one of the superhero genre's first bonafide success stories. After debuting in 2000 to decent reviews and solid gold box office, Marvel's mutants added a new level of legitimacy to comic book adaptations on film and provided a runway for other characters to make it to the silver screen. It's a shame, then, that a franchise once emblematic of its genre's greatest potential has since succumbed to its worst qualities: overcomplicated canon, problematic players behind the scenes (his name rhymes with Shmyan Shminger), and corporate interests milking spin-offs for all they could be worth, even as the udders run dry. If it weren't for the Disney-Fox merger and Marvel Studios' plan for mutant integration into the MCU, the "X-Men" franchise would be as close to dead-in-the-water as you can be.

At a pre-release screening, "The Fall Guy" director David Leitch and star Ryan Gosling greeted the audience by not only thanking them for attending (and playfully encouraging them to stay off their phones) but clarifying that the ensuing film — inspired by the 1980s TV series starring Lee Majors — is a love letter to the stunt community. That much would be true even if the film's end credits didn't include a lengthy montage of the making of some of the stunts that occur within the story. Leitch has a long history in the stunt community, having worked on everything from "John Wick" to "Deadpool 2" and "Ocean's Eleven." It's one thing, of course, to say that you've made a movie that's a love letter to stunts but it's another to actually pull off jaw-dropping stunt sequences. It is rumored that the film will feature many prominent characters from the earlier Marvel movies as cameos which will induce cheers in the theatres. However, one of the major characters was out of the equation- Cable.

As you are likely well aware, the Walt Disney Company bought 20th Century Fox back in 2019, just one year after “Deadpool 2” hit theaters, and in the process, became the owners of all of Fox’s Marvel properties, The Fantastic Four, X-Men, and the Deadpool franchise. But if you’re wondering why it took so long for a third ‘Deadpool’ movie to happen, six years after the second film, well, we finally have answers.

Six years after "Deadpool 2" became a huge hit (technically Brad Pitt's biggest movie), we're finally getting a third entry in the wildly popular superhero franchise. This time, Ryan Reynolds is suiting up again as the Merc with a Mouth in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a wild, R-rated trip through the multiverse. Not only that, he's also called upon Hugh Jackman to put on the claws once more, with the actor suiting up as Wolverine for the first time since 2017's "Logan." The resulting film is director Shawn Levy's "Deadpool & Wolverine," which figures to be one of the biggest movies of the summer. However, arriving at the story at the center of this superhero blockbuster was no small task, as it turns out.

The summer movie season kicks off in earnest with the release of "The Fall Guy" this weekend. Starring Ryan Gosling ("Barbie") and Emily Blunt ("Oppenheimer"), this movie has been garnering great buzz ever since it premiered at SXSW in Austin, Texas, back in March. /Film's own Jacob Hall gave the film a near-perfect 9 out of 10 review. It's part action movie, part rom-com, and Universal Pictures has been marketing the hell out of it.

Josh Brolin Is More In Love With Cable Than Thanos Reveals Whether He’s Part Of Deadpool & Wolverine Or Not ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Josh Brolin is one of those actors who has played two Marvel characters and that too in the same year. He appeared as Thanos and Cable in 2018. With Deadpool & Wolverine’s release almost around the corner, several speculations have been made on social media. One of them is Brolin’s return to the MCU, as his name is reportedly listed on IMDb as part of the upcoming movie’s cast.
Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War were released in 2018, and Brolin was an integral part of both the movies. Now, Marvel has finally acquired the rights to the Fox characters, and as a result, Wade Wilson and Logan are coming home. The possibilities for the makers to include the characters in the movie have increased, courtesy of the multiverse concept.

The hype surrounding Deadpool & Wolverine is unreal. And it is a given that when the Merc with a Mouth and the Clawed Mutant team up, whether in comics or on-screen, the result is going to be an explosion of gore and profanity. David Leitch has had ups and downs since co-directing John Wick a decade ago. While he's always been an incredibly talented action filmmaker, courtesy of his background as a stunt performer and coordinator, his apparent passion for mixing action and comedy hasn't always served him well. Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train both shortchange the action for comedy that's often just as likely to cause groans as laughter, but with The Fall Guy, Leitch has found the perfect balance of humor, hits, and heart. Maybe that's because The Fall Guy is a movie about a stuntman, maybe not. Either way, there's a sense of joy and love for filmmaking broadly and the people who make movie magic possible in The Fall Guy that invites viewers to...

Based on the television show of the same name that ran for five seasons from 1981-86 and starred Lee Majors and Heather Thomas, director David Leitch’s new film, The Fall Guy, employs the same combination of action and sexual tension that fueled the show (albeit not necessarily between the two main characters). This approach makes for an entertaining and somewhat nostalgic aura around a film that, if approached a different way, could have resulted in another disappointing cinematic adaptation of a popular television property.

Right from the beginning, the big-screen outings of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool have been… well, distinctly Deadpoolian affairs. In his 2016 debut feature, he made a joke about fondling Wolverine’s nether-regions before laying gory waste to a car full of goons. In 2019’s Deadpool 2, he finally assembled the long-rumoured X-Force team – before thrusting them into a skydiving mission that killed them all off instantly. Now, he’s changing things up once again for his third outing – teaming up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine for a reality-breaking adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And despite the dual-headline status of title Deadpool & Wolverine, make no mistake – tonally, this is Deadpool through and through.

“The Fall Guy” (Universal) opens in the U.S./Canada Friday — one of the most prestigious spots on the movie release calendar. Since “Iron Man” in 2008, and since Disney initiated the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2012, the first weekend in May has marked the start of the summer movie season.
When MCU “Deadpool & Wolverine” left this date in favor of July 26, Universal grabbed it — and the expectations that come with it. As a result, there’s an unusually wide range of estimates for the domestic opening weekend: We hear everything from the high 20s to over $50 million, with consensus closer to $35 million or a bit more.
An opening weekend of $35 million-$40 million would be a big improvement over a disastrous April (where “Civil War” was the sole film to debut over $25 million), but that would be only the fifth-best opening of 2024. Historically, this date tops any opening gross and usually...

An opening weekend of $35 million-$40 million would be a big improvement over a disastrous April (where “Civil War” was the sole film to debut over $25 million), but that would be only the fifth-best opening of 2024. Historically, this date tops any opening gross and usually...

Deadpool & Wolverine has garnered anticipation ever since Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman released an announcement video where Reynolds would ask a seemingly apathetic Jackman if he’d like to appear in the third Deadpool movie as Wolverine. The two popular X-Men characters would famously have a love/hate relationship in the comic world, and previous Deadpool entries would only feature fourth wall-breaking jabs at each other both inside and outside of the movies. Now that they’re officially capitalizing on their bromance with a multiverse plot which opens up possibilities for more cameos, many fans have been theorizing about who could possibly appear in the film.
The movie is centering on this mismatched partnership, but one person who is disappointed that they didn’t get invited back is Josh Brolin. Brolin would deliver a one-two punch to the Marvel cinematic world by portraying both Thanos and Cable in 2018 for...

Deadpool & Wolverine hype has been on the horizon since the announcement of the movie (even before the title announcement). The biggest surprise for fans has to be Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine, despite the death of his character in the 2017 movie Logan. But convincing Jackman was not enough, Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy wanted a lot more for the movie.

Josh Brolin's Cable was introduced in Deadpool 2, and after initially serving as an antagonist for Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), the time-travelling warrior joined forces with the Merc With a Mouth and his allies.
It was Cable's future tech that allowed Deadpool to travel back in time and prevent Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) and the members of X-Force from being killed, so it was generally assumed that the character would return when Marvel Studios announced that a third movie was in development.
Though there is always a chance Cable - and Zazie Beetz's Domino - will appear in Deadpool and Wolverine, their returns have not been reported on by the trades or the various online scoopers who accurately leaked a lot of the other cameos.

One of the biggest upcoming MCU releases is most certainly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The movie marks several big things. It’s Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU and also the only MCU movie to be released in 2024, in the hopes of restoring at least some of the faith that the fans of the franchise lost in the last several years due to a string of several poorly received movies.
The recently released trailer also confirmed that several old faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises are going to be making a return, a few faces were however notably missing, Angel Dust, Cable, and Domino.
Most of the fans were aware that Gina Carano likely won’t be reprising her role as the actress was let go due to “offensive” posts made on social media after which she was promptly fired by Disney. But fans were still holding...

One of the most anticipated MCU releases is undoubtedly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ This movie marks several significant milestones—it’s Deadpool’s first step into the MCU and the sole MCU film slated for release in 2024. The aim is to regain some of the faith lost by fans in recent years due to a string of poorly received movies.
The recently unveiled trailer also confirmed the return of several familiar faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises. However, notable absences include Angel Dust, Cable, and Domino.
Many fans anticipated that Gina Carano wouldn’t return to her role, as she was fired following “offensive” social media posts, leading to her swift termination by Disney. Despite this, fans clung to hope for Domino and Cable’s return, especially after their expanded roles were hinted at in ‘Deadpool 2.’

Producer Kelly McCormick isn’t prone to counting chickens before they hatch, especially when they come in the form of $125 million blockbusters built around the long-gestating resurrection of some classic TV IP. But, given the critical affection already poured on her latest, “The Fall Guy,” and the apparent readiness of the moviegoing public to see a tentpole that truly has it all (plus stunts so massive they are already literal world record-breakers), it might be time for McCormick to start thinking “franchise potential” right now.
As co-founder of the production and action design company 87North — along with her husband, “The Fall Guy” director David Leitch — McCormick is a major player in the action space. Man, does she have fun with it. She’s produced everything from “Bullet Train” and “Atomic Blonde” to “Nobody,” along with executive producing “Deadpool 2” and “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.”

Ryan Reynolds has given his fans just what they seek from him through every single one of his performances. This especially includes his anti-hero Deadpool, which has even given fans the delight of seeing their favorite actor immaculately fight the most brutal and scariest villains from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, always standing his ground no matter how barbarous they were.

But while those menacing villains don’t seem to be able to terrify him, there’s something else that managed to do that part. And, surprisingly enough, this something else actually included Reynolds performing in front of his Korean fans while promoting the sequel to his 2016 masterpiece film of the beloved anti-hero six years ago, even though he was beyond “scared” to do it!

Despite David Leitch’s background as a stunt actor and coordinator, not to mention the fact that his co-directorial debut, John Wick, set a bar for hard-hitting action, there’s been a certain weightlessness to every film he’s made since his sophomore film, Atomic Blonde. From Deadpool 2 to Bullet Train, they all glide along as briskly and smoothly as, well, a bullet train. They’re sleek, sure, but they’re also free of any heft or tactile quality.
The Fall Guy, then, is a modest improvement, in that there’s at least a sense of physicality to some of its action sequences, though that’s to be expected: As this is a film about the making of a movie, so much of the action that we’re watching has yet to be beefed up by chaotic editing and CGI noise. And thanks to magnetic performances by Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt,...

Michael Douglas is in terrific form as Benjamin Franklin in Apple TV’s new historical limited series “Franklin” but he isn’t the only actor to emerge with awards whispers whizzing through the air. Veteran actor Eddie Marsan features in a key supporting role as John Adams and delivers one of the finest performances of his career while also shining a new light onto a man that many actors have depicted before.
The limited series follows Franklin’s eight years in France as he tried to persuade King Louis XVI (Tom Pezier) to join the colonies’ cause and aid them in the American Revolutionary War. The scenes between Douglas and Marsan are nothing short of spectacular and Marsan nails his performance as Adams, as noted by critics.
Clint Worthington (Roger Ebert) noted: “Marsan’s energy as Adams is decidedly different from Paul Giamatti’s in Ellis’ original 2008 miniseries—“Franklin” feels...

The Fall Guy Producer On Ryan Gosling & Emily Blunt’s On-Screen Relationship ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling created box office history with their respective movies last year. Oppenheimer and Barbie not only clashed at the theatres, but both were successful. The Barbenheimer clash [Barbie & Oppenheimer] was one of the most talked about topics on social media last year, and now the actors have paired up for the movie The Fall Guy about stunt performers. Producer Kelly McCormick has recently given an insight into Ryan and Emily’s incredible chemistry on the film’s set.
Emily and Ryan are two of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood, and they rekindled their Barbenheimer banter on the 96th Academy Awards stage last month. Although Blunt did not take home the golden statuette, her team ruled the night with seven wins, including Best Picture. Meanwhile, Ryan’s Barbie won the box office war last year.

When the highly-anticipated blockbuster superhero film “Deadpool & Wolverine” slashes its way into theatres this July, fans can expect to see the nostalgic return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and probably a whole ton of cameos, if the rumors and meta trailer jokes are any indication. However, as already reported, one character that viewers may have wanted to see but sadly won’t be in the anticipated blockbuster is Josh Brolin’s Cable, who previously appeared in “Deadpool 2.”
Brolin’s absence from the film is already known; he was never reported as part of the film, and there’s no trace of him in any of the recent trailers; he even joked that he had beef with “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds.

On Saturday, WeAreMovieGeeks.com got a sneak peek at the Fall Guy Stuntacular at Universal Studios Hollywood. Based on the upcoming reboot of the 80’s classic TV series, The Fall Guy Stuntacular is a limited running show at the popular movie theme park. Presented just before the Water World stunt show at Universal, this new show features many of the big stunts from the movie. And as if that wasn’t enough, Ryan Gosling, star of the new film was on hand to treat the invited audience to the first look at the stunts and the stunt men and women who make it all possible. Gosling called the film, “a love letter to the stunt community” that has been overshadowed for years. Laughs were also abound, as Gosling doubled down on his likeability and comic chops, joking with the crowd and director of the film David Leitch who was also in attendance.

Plot: After being gravely injured, a stuntman named Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) tries to win back his ex, a movie director named Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), by finding the star of her mega-budget action movie, who’s gone missing after falling in with a dangerous crowd.

L to R: Ryan Gosling is Colt Seavers and Emily Blunt is Judy Moreno in The Fall Guy, directed by David Leitch © Universal Studios. All Rights Reserved. The Fall Guy is generating some serious hype! Think about it: a huge cast, a director who knows how to deliver explosive action, and those early reviews are fantastic. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt – both Oscar nominees – are headlining this one. And with David Leitch behind the camera…well, let’s just say the guy who made Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train knows how to keep an audience on the edge of their seats. This movie has all the ingredients for a hit. But even a great director needs a stellar cast, and Leitch certainly has that in Gosling and Blunt. He raves about their talent and on-screen chemistry. It's no secret that the first third of 2024 has been at best uneven as far as the box office goes. Ticket sales are lagging way behind this same point in 2023, in no small part thanks to movies like "Abigail" and "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" underperforming on the same weekend. Thankfully, the summer movie season is on the horizon and Hollywood, as well as theater owners, will hinge their hopes on a varied slate being able to sell an outsized number of tickets. That all begins next weekend with the release of Universal's "The Fall Guy." The question is, can Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt strike gold in the summer season once again after last year's Barbenheimer phenomenon?
"The Fall Guy" will be the first blockbuster to hit theaters in May, which typically ushers in the summer for Hollywood. Currently, the big-budget action/comedy is looking at an opening weekend in the $40 million range,...

In a scene early in The Fall Guy, a nameless crewmember buckles Ryan Gosling’s seat belt as his character is about to attempt a cannon roll, a classic car stunt, on the set of a fictional science fiction movie called Metal Storm. Gosling plays Hollywood stuntman Colt Seavers, who is reluctantly returning to the film business after an injury, but in many ways the real star of the scene is the background actor buckling him in, Logan Holladay. Though his screen time lasts only a few moments, Holladay was the real-life stunt driver for Gosling — the one who actually steered a Jeep Grand Cherokee down a Sydney beach and rolled it eight and a half times on the sand, breaking the Guinness world record of seven rolls set by Adam Kirley, the driver of James Bond’s Aston Martin in 2006’s Casino Royale.
