Spoilers. Observations. Opinions.
Samuel finds out Aurelia has a husband. Ouch. Samuel, who wants to go and be with her, doesn't want to be the guy on the losing end of things. Meanwhile, it seems as though northern reformer Charlotte is setting her cap for Samuel. Don't let her altruistically-appearing intentions fool you.
The previous medical chief has been sent to Washington. The new one is a rigid, uncaring stiff board who engages in phrenology, the study of parts of the head. This is like a dictator studying his astrology book. This man is rude, obnoxious and majorly boring.
Foster engages the medical machine charlatan to attend to a patient. Foster has heard of some new techniques, and he'll try anything once. This show has other quacks, like that fake dentist, lol.
Mary gets spots on her body, becomes ill, and goes upstairs to hopefully get well. I think, also, that she wants to be attended solely by Dr. Foster. It doesn't take much of a genius to figure this out.
Mr. Green finds a soldier supposedly attacking his darling daughter, so like any good father (ugh) he canes the life (literally) out of the guy -- using a fireplace poker. That's a ton of nasty blood on the floor, there. Quick! Let's roll him up in that bedspread. Shhhhhhh. Keep it quiet. Were duels illegal by this time in history?
10/10.
