As I stated in my review of this series, I LOVE the "Fresh of the Boat" series, and am always enthusiastic about more Asian leads and representation in general on TV. In this episode where Eddie returns home to Orlando, his AWESOME real-life family is feature; and while I don't think anyone can't help but fall in love with his parents, episode after episode Eddie makes it that much harder to sympathize with him, let alone like him. Unlike the ultra-leftist whiners (of which Eddie is a card-carrying member), the rest of us who disagree with his political views can absolutely look past them, since everyone is entitled to their own opinion (take a hint there, Ed). And while the vast majority of Americans might think fart-jokes and drug-references are immature, 5th-grade humor, we can still look past this if there is an interesting plot-line or substance to be had. But this episode underscores just how full of himself Eddie is in two separate scenes; First, even though he knowingly takes the crew (and us viewers) to a very "whisky tango" location for a day of strippers, fire-arms and general debauchery (fully aware that this is GREAT shock-value for the series), at some point he just can't resist the opportunity to do some leftist virtue-signaling and scolds his host for what he sees as "ordering people around"...like he does to his camera crew in every episode. Nevermind the fact the women featured actually make a living on social media/private web-cams and are trying to boost their following in their chosen profession (and Eddie is most likely a paid subscriber)...no, this is just "wrong!!!" and needs his admonishment; fart-jokes are great and all, but watermelon flowing down a girl's butt is where he must draw the moral line! Later, at his family's celebration, he flies off in a rage and starts angrily cursing at everyone for someone's mistake. Once again, we see the wisdom and beauty of his mother as she tries to calm him and give him some sound advice on his bad behavior. So, on the one hand, Eddie continuously comes off as an immature, oafish tool who's so full of himself that he doesn't realize how insanely ridiculous he has become, yet on the other hand, his ego serves us, the viewers, in that he allows these clips/segments to air, apparently oblivious to the fact at how bad they make him look. The one thing I can say is unlike a lot of the rehearsed and scripted "reality TV" we see, this absolutely comes off as real.
