Warning: Spoilers
The exit from Egypt is pretty easy. God separates the waters of the Red Sea so they can get across. Pharaoh changes his mind and decides that he wants to bring the Hebrews back, but for some reason, they disappear long after the Hebrews cross the Red Sea. Ascension begins in the desert because of a lack of water, and when they first do find it, it's filled with salt. More disruption inues as they realize that Moses is going a different way than they thought, taking them to Sinai for God-knows-what, they believe.

While the Ten Commandments would be long over by the time this episode (the fourth out of six) is complete, the viewer is by now feeling that they've taken a parallel universe journey from Moses' journey to freedom than what Cecil B DeMille and Charlton Heston had taken them through nearly 20 years before this was made. This episode also deals with the creation of the Sabbath, showing a gender gap between the elders and the young people who come on feel the need to rebel. They also encounter the Amalekites, bringing further danger. This is the first reappearance of narrator Richard Johnson since the first episode, adding a continuity flaw to the miniseries.
