Confused...until we discovered alternate beginning
troysgrampa15 September 2021
I wish I too had known this was an alternative as Clancy passed in the first movie.....watching, we were confused and really couldn't understand until we found out. We too thought we had missed something and rewatched the original looking for something missed.

Would have liked to know this was an alternative

Would have been nice when watching on Prime if it had said this was an alternative to the first one "Clancy" in which she passed on to heaven! I thought I had missed one somewhere until I went on here and seen it was an alternative. But it was a great movie!!!

What a pleasant surprise! Warning: Spoilers
Okay, I'll be honest - I went into this movie with pre-conceived notions. My first thought when I discovered a second movie was made after Clancy, was they should've left it alone. I didn't see any need for a second film, and if you've seen the first one, you'll understand why I felt that way (if you haven't seen Clancy, don't continue reading this). The first movie this is based off of, is a wonderful Christian story about a 12-year-old girl, Clancy, (Christina Fougnie), running away from home after being abused by her mom, who was addicted to drugs. She encounters a homeless veteran who's also struggling with PTSD and alcoholism, Nick (Jefferson Moore). Initially, he's not welcoming of her tagging along, but over time he takes her under his wing. Just as they were forming a bond, and she was becoming like a daughter to him, she dies. It's a tearjerker for sure. I would even venture to say people who don't usually cry when they watch movies might find themselves getting emotional. I had my reservations, because I figured, as deep and heartwarming as that was, why would they make a sequel, or a retelling of the story?? I thought it was cringe. Well, I was wrong, as I often am when it comes to movies. I formed a negative opinion of if after seeing it on the Positiv channel, and I hadn't even caught it from the beginning. I found it on YouTube, and watching the whole thing completely changed my perspective.

Directed by Jefferson Moore, Clancy Once Again has all of the same characters from the original, with a couple of new people added. It's now eight years later, so Clancy is 20, and she's living with Nick. For some reason though, she was portrayed as a high school senior. He became her legal guardian, and is really the only support she has in her life. I had caught this on TV, and came in on the scene where they were sitting on the floor eating dinner and watching a baseball game. While obviously not romantic, I thought their relationship was a bit weird. I couldn't see why a girl who had blossomed into a young woman would want to share a space with her father, whether they're biologically related or not. But I was watching under the impression that Clancy was an adult in the story, not a teenager. Plus, the bond they had was very sweet, so even if she was portrayed as her real age, her living at home wouldn't have been all that strange. I did take off one star because the pacing was quite slow at times, but the cast was incredibly natural in their roles, which is evident in many Christian films, as opposed to modern Hollywood movies, where some of the actors/actresses seem kind of awkward, and as a result, don't exactly give the most convincing performance.

Overall, I ended up enjoying Jefferson Moore's reimagining of the story. I'm skeptical of sequels/remakes and the like, so my expectations were low. I thought it was best to leave the ending of Clancy alone, even in spite of how depressing it was. But hey, I take full responsibility for being wrong. You'd think I would've learned by now not to judge a film before I watch it, in its entirety. I highly suggest watching this one if you've seen Clancy!

Not like the first one...

I wish I could give it a 10 but for as much as this movies sends a good message it lacks a lot of things. How I wish Christian directors were professionals.

Not so good as the first one but it checks out.

Warning: Spoilers
This is an updated version from the events of the first Clancy to a more different dialogue with all the characters having moved on in a way. Nick Best plays a father figure to the now teenager Clancy. And the officer who is Nick's best friend is like a detective now who goes missing on a anonymous caller's tip. So basically it goes back and forth between Clancy and Nick and finding the missing detective. Otherwise it doesn't gel that much from the first Clancy movie. Although both of the movies have pretty good storylines and no nudity or profanity. I give Clancy once again a 5 out 5 stars...
