Violence & Gore

  • There are many intense fight scenes, but there isn't any blood, aside from one end card scene and an early scene in the series. Wounds are represented by glitchy red scars. However, there are many graphic images that are explained in great detail by characters that may be off-putting to some.
  • A scene from the movie scanners where a persons head graphically explodes is played a few times throughout the series as a running gag.

Profanity

  • Only in the first 3/4 of the first episode is the constant profanity in this show censored. You have been warned.
  • Fuck, shit, bitch, and other curse words are all used frequently.
  • There is a scene in episode 8 where Kirito mocks another characters appearance. Fucked is used once in a sexual context during this exchange. Played for comedic effect.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Drugs are moderately referenced, and there is a depiction of someone over-drinking alcohol in an episode.
  • In episode 5 Kirito gets high off eating random mushrooms he found on the ground and starts saying a lot of weird philosophical stuff. Played for comedic effect.
  • In episode 3 a character says, "winners don't use drugs. Except steroids, in which case, use lots of drugs!"

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There are many scenes throughout the series that could be considered torturous, most of them are used for comedic affect.
  • While Sword Art Online Abridged is mostly a comedic parody, it does have some genuinely emotional, frightening, and/or disturbing scenes.
