In a world replete with quick-spreading disinformation and the subsequent, dangerous proliferation of kooky conspiracy theories, the 2021 animated series "Inside Job" — created by Shion Takeuchi (a writer on "Gravity Falls" and "Disenchantment") — was perfectly timed. "Inside Job" posited that every single conspiracy theory you've ever heard — whether it be Reptilians, JFK, the Mandela effect, the flat Earth, or the faked moon landing — were all 100 percent real. Clones were out there, severed heads were being kept alive in labs, and aliens regularly visited Earth. Just like in "The X-Files," ordinary citizens weren't allowed access to this knowledge.
Earth's conspiracies were overseen by a mysterious underground organization called Cognito, Inc., one of six major shadow governments secretly in charge of the world. The other five were the Catholic Church, the Illuminati, Atlantis, the Reptoids, and the Juggalos (tee hee). The central joke of "Inside Job" was that Cognito, Inc. was staffed by flawed,...

Netflix has produced many hit TV shows over the past seven years, ever since they started pumping out their own original programming. However, the streaming service has developed a reputation for not letting its series go on for too long. Fans know to be wary of getting attached to their favorite new Netflix shows as they could be unceremoniously cancelled after one or two seasons.
Earlier today, for instance, Hilary Swank vehicle Away was given the chop by the company after just a single outing. This makes it the 56th original series that Netflix has cancelled. That number only includes shows that were original to the platform and produced in-house, so it doesn’t count pick-ups like Lucifer, for example. Those series luckily enough to end on the creators’ own terms, such as House of Cards, are likewise not included. Shows that were axed by Netflix before being picked up elsewhere,...

In a rare move of transparency, Netflix has released a list of movies and television projects that have been banned from streaming on its platform over the last five years (via Variety). The list includes nine projects, from the much-publicized episode of “Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj” that got removed in Saudi Arabia to Stanley Kubrick’s war epic “Full Metal Jacket” being taken off Netflix in Vietnam. Netflix says these nine film and TV shows are the only times it has ever removed content because of government censorship demands since it began streaming in 2007.
A statement on the report from Netflix reads: “We offer creators the ability to reach audiences all around the world. In some cases we’ve also been forced to remove specific titles or episodes of titles in specific countries due to government takedown demands.”

Netflix disclosed for the first time the movies and TV shows it has pulled from its streaming service at the behest of governments, as part of a new transparency report.
The nine titles, which Netflix removed between 2015-2020, include a single episode of “Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj” pulled in Saudi Arabia after the government demanded removal of the segment that was critical of the regime. The company said the nine cases are the only times it has ever yanked content because of censorship demands since it began streaming in 2007.
Other titles purged by Netflix in individual countries include five in Singapore alone: “The Last Hangover,” “The Last Temptation of Christ,” “Cooking on High,” “The Legend of 420” and “Disjointed.” In 2017, Netflix pulled George Romero’s horror classic “Night of the Living Dead” in Germany; the film is banned in the country.

Exclusive: When the opening credits in the upcoming Season 45 premiere of Saturday Night Live roll this Saturday, they will reveal that featured players Heidi Gardner and Chris Redd have been upped to repertory players, I have learned. A rep for SNL did not respond to a request for comment.
It has become customary for SNL to promote the featured players who have made it to their third year on the show. Gardner and Redd were two of three new SNL feature players added in September 2017, along with Luke Null who was not picked up for a second season.
Last fall, Gardner and Redd were joined by Ego Nwodim who will be heading into her second season as a featured player, joined by new SNL cast additions Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman..
