Rumored backstage tension at Will & Grace did not precipitate the series’ end, NBC’s top exec maintains.
“Some things come to a natural end,” NBC Chairman Paul Telegdy explained to TVLine of his decision last summer to conclude the revival after its current third season (and 11th overall). “[Series creators] Max [Mutchnick] and David [Kohan] told the story they wanted to tell. Just wait for the finale. It’s epic; it ties together so many threads. It is coming to a great, natural end.”

Actor Sam Waterston was among those arrested Friday in the latest weekly D.C. climate protest led by Jane Fonda, his co-star in the Netflix series Grace and Frankie.
This was Waterston’s second arrest. He also was arrested in October when he and other demonstrators blocked First Street on the east side of the Capitol, as they did in Friday’s protest.
Fonda was not arrested, but has been on five previous occasions, including one where she spent the night in a D.C. jail. Last fall, she moved to Washington temporarily to help organize the weekly rallies and demonstrations, called First Drill Fridays, as a way to call attention to the need for urgent action on climate change.
Also participating in Friday’s rally were Iain Armitage, the star of the series Young Sheldon, and director Josh Fox.

When the Screen Actors Guild Awards likes something, it double-downs on it. Despite only being in its 26th year, the SAG Awards has had tons of repeat winners on the TV side. This year, only three of the six regular series acting categories include the defending champ, so which one of them is most likely to repeat?
Interestingly, only the comedy categories could have the same back-to-back winners — made easier by the fact that “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” swept all three races last year and it’s back again in all three. On the drama side, Jason Bateman is ineligible since “Ozark” didn’t air in 2019, while Sandra Oh was dropped in drama actress in favor of her “Killing Eve” co-star Jodie Comer. And two-time defending champ “This Is Us” was sidelined from the drama ensemble field for the first time since its inaugural season.

Leonard Cohen’s career had reached a low point when he wrote “Hallelujah.” It was 1984, and he had been out of the spotlight for quite a long time. His 1977 LP, Death of a Ladies’ Man, a collaboration with Phil Spector, was a commercial and critical disappointment, and his next album Recent Songs fared no better. When Cohen submitted the songs for his subsequent LP, Various Positions, to Columbia, label execs didn’t hear “Hallelujah,” the opening song of Side Two, as anything special. They didn’t even want to release the album,...

Another month, another smattering of new Netflix titles to sift through. And it seems the online streamer is kicking off 2020 with a host of juicy horror movies and TV shows.
First thing’s first: there’s a number of big-name titles leaving the service next month, including Panic Room, Grease, American Pyscho, and the Spartacus series. That’s disappointing, to be sure, but among the January 2020 titles are news installments of Grace and Frankie and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, along with all three Lord of the Rings movies and the Kill Bill films. And it doesn’t stop there.
We’ve compiled the full list below, but a special mention must go to two particularly exciting horror additions: Sam Raimi classic The Evil Dead and Tremors.
Jan. 1
Ghost Stories (Netflix Film): Short films from Indian directors behind “Bombay Talkies” and “Lust Stories.”

Park City is with her — or will be, when an under-wraps documentary series about Hillary Clinton debuts at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
“Hillary,” directed by Nanette Burstein, is one of several projects going up in Sundance’s special events program, announced Tuesday by the festival in step with its short film and indie episodic lineups.
The four-part series, produced by Hulu, is described as “a portrait of a public woman, interweaving moments from never-before-seen 2016 campaign footage with biographical chapters of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s life.” The project will feature interviews with Clinton herself, husband Bill Clinton, close friends and journalists, and represent “an examination of how she became simultaneously one of the most admired and vilified women in the world.” It premieres March 6 on Hulu.
It’s unclear if Clinton will appear at the festival in support of the project. This summer, reports said she and daughter Chelsea Clinton...

The limited series “Perpetual Grace Ltd” aired over the summer from June to August, so it might have fallen under the radar as the Emmys for the previous TV season were still being decided, but with the Golden Globes and SAG Awards approaching it might be time for awards voters to say “Grace,” especially with a showcase performance by Ben Kingsley at the heart of it.
Created by Steven Conrad and Bruce Terris (Amazon‘s “Patriot“), the series follows a young grifter (Jimmi Simpson) who tries to prey on Pastor Byron Brown (Kingsley), but the pastor is more dangerous than he bargained for. It’s a villainous role that has been compared to Kingsley’s turn in “Sexy Beast” (2001), which earned him one of his four Oscar nominations and one of his eight Golden Globe noms. He plays Pastor Brown “with a slight tinge of menace from the very beginning” that is “quickly” unleashed.

We're sure you're familiar by now with the wonderfully chivalrous and preferably shirtless Chris Evans. But if you weren't already aware that Chris has a just-as-sexy younger brother, then we're about to make your day. Scott Evans is two years younger than the former Captain America, and he shares more than just good looks with his brother - he is also an actor himself.
Though Scott is probably best known for his role as Oliver Fish on One Life to Live, he's also appeared in shows like Fringe, White Collar, and Looking, and most recently, he's played the recurring role of Oliver on Grace and Frankie. Scott (as well as his two sisters and mother) often accompanies Chris on the red carpet, and when these two bros step out together, the hotness is almost too much to handle. Just look at these adorable pics of the Evans brothers together to see what we mean.
