The portrayal of Scottish Nationalist Party leader Nicola Sturgeon as a Bond-type villain was lauded by critics and angered some SNP supporters. Sturgeon took to Twitter the day after the episode's airing tweeting: "Great to see my fav Scottish designers @TottyRocksLtd featuring on @TraceyUllmanTV last night ;)" SNP MP Mhairi Black, who is also parodied in the episode and acts as Nicola's henchman, was quoted as saying, "It was all right. It was quite a bizarre scenario. But I thought it was quite clever and quite witty."
Singer Toyah Willcox implored Nicola Sturgeon to take the show's impersonation in the right spirit. Tracey Ullman had impersonated Willcox back in the early 1980s.
