A unique documentary with a home-grown flavor!
rayglasser-227 February 2017
This is the first of its kind - a home-grown documentary with a local flavor, basically with interviews of mom and pop video stores that still exist in 2017 (the year of release of this doc). Real people, telling real stories about how they began their business, how they grew it, and whom they cater to in their respective markets. As a bonus, the filmmaker interviewed two "video pioneers"; the man who published the first video magazine ("The Videophile's Newsletter"), as well as one of the earliest stalwart collectors (yours truly), who began with, and stayed with, the Betamax format from the 70s thru the 2000s. All in all, a very well portrayed and unique look at the now almost-defunct neighborhood video store, with insights into the beginnings of the home video revolution. A must-see for a unique look into the home video industry.
