Gerri is heading West.
J. Smith-Cameron, the actress best known for her two-time Emmy-nominated performance as acid-tongued general counsel Gerri Kellman on “Succession,” is joining the cast of “Hacks” Season 3 as a recurring guest star, Variety reports.
Details of Cameron’s role are being kept under wraps, but it’s very easy to see her trading barbs with Deborah Vance (Jean Smart), or being polite but cutting with Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder).
“Hacks” is a Max comedy series about the professional and personal relationship between an aging Las Vegas stand-up comic (Smart) and the young writer (Einbinder) she hires to help her modernize her material. Smart has won two Emmys for her performance, and the series has earned two nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series, among many other nominations.

Poll any 25 movie fans on what their favorite Gary Oldman performance is and you’ll get nearly as many answers (I’ll take Sid Vicious in Sid and Nancy). But one that surely connected with a core audience was Sirius Black in the Harry Potter series. And it was those movies – and by taking on James Gordon in Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies – that helped him find a balance between work and home life.
Speaking on The Drew Barrymore Show (via Variety), Gary Oldman said the turmoil following his divorce from third wife Donya Fiorentino put him in a tough situation when it came time to manage his career and bond with his sons. Fortunately, some high-profile projects were on the horizon, with both Prisoner of Azkaban and Batman Begins being released within just about one year of each other. On this episode he shares his experience of working with Christopher Nolan on that film (which he says seemed less sprawling than some student films he’s worked on!), why he felt the freedom to bring his ideas and “all of himself” (spoiler: Nolan is not afraid of actors!), and how all this affected the work in the moment. Disney Entertainment TV has suspended a slew of overall and first-look deals with producers across its subsidiaries, including Billy Porter, Yara Shahidi and Gina Rodriguez, among others, TheWrap has learned.
Additional non-writing producers impacted by the suspensions include fellow “This Is Us” alum Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore, as well as “Rebel” executive producer Marc Webb, “The Bear” EP Hiro Murai and FX Productions’ Stacey Sher.
Despite the suspensions, Disney Entertainment TV plans to continue paying for the deals in order to provide salaries for assistants through the end of 2023, as well as cover salaries for development executives through the first week of October 2023, an individual with knowledge of the decision told TheWrap.
The entertainment giant becomes the latest company to make the move to suspend deals as the WGA strike stretches into its fourth month, with SAG-AFTRA members joining striking writers on the picket line in mid-July.

The CW’s “Nancy Drew” aired its final episode on Wednesday, following last year’s news that Season 4 of the detective series would be its last. At the time, showrunners Noga Landau and Melinda Hsu Taylor said they were “full of gratitude, knowing that we were able to bring this chapter to a close with intentionality,” but executive producer Larry Teng is telling a different story.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, the EP said The CW did not tell the “Nancy Drew” team that the network planned to cancel the show until a “random call 3/4 into our season.” According to Teng, “Nancy Drew” star Kennedy McMann “was in line to shoot ‘The Good Lawyer,'” so her agent called CBS Studios (a production company behind “Nancy Drew”) to ask about scheduling in regards to “Nancy Drew” Season 5. CBS then apparently made a call to The CW “right around the...

It's both exciting and heartbreaking to know that Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 12 is the penultimate installment of the series.
As thrilled as I am to get answers to this sin eater mystery, and as hopeful as I am to see Temperance's curse finally broken, it's difficult not to be disappointed in all the plot lines and character arcs that feel incomplete.
And worse to know that this is the end of our relationship with the Drew Crew.
For several episodes now, no one has even mentioned Temperance or her death curse. We know that's what's keeping Ace and Nancy apart, but it almost feels like the show has forgotten as it's found other ways to drive a wedge between our favorite couple.
The first three installments of the season were amazing, but we haven't had a satisfying romantic moment between Nancy and Ace since Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 3.
That montage was epic!

Big Brother finally made its return to TV screens Wednesday night, and as expected, the numbers were strong.
The 90-minute premiere had 3.3 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in the demo, easily dominating the competition on the broadcast networks.
With a later-than-usual premiere due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the reality TV hit was down slightly vs. its July 2022 premiere.
The true test will be whether fans will connect with the multiverse-themed twist that seems a bit too confusing to follow.
Big Brother continues Sunday at 10 p.m. -- an incredibly late slot for the show.
But we'll see how the numbers hold up when they come out on Monday.
The series will be on the air through November this year, helping to bolster CBS' reality-heavy fall schedule.
Over on ABC, Judge Steve Harvey (2.8 million/0.3 rating) and The Wonder Years (1.5 million/0.2 rating) each picked up some steam for the network.

There’s a joke thrown around The CW offices: “We have more fans than viewers,” the network’s president of entertainment Brad Schwartz told TheWrap in a recent interview.
It’s a good line, one that alludes to the network’s dedicated fan bases that routinely make small-audience shows like “Nancy Drew” and “Gotham Knights” trend on Twitter. But it’s also a joke that nods to why the network is in the middle of such a massive transition following its 2022 acquisition by Nexstar. For Schwartz, The CW’s future is dependent on both retaining the passionate audience that’s been loyal to the brand over the past 20 years, and diversifying so it can compete with its network peers.
This fall, the network is expanding well past what audiences may think is the typical CW brand. The 2023-2024 season features everything from more mature dramas and a Tuesday night comedy...

So does anyone think Nancy and Ace will go their separate ways and find new love after Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 5?
Yeah. Me, either.
Does Ace really believe that an epic love story like his and Nancy's will come around twice in a lifetime, and for both of them, no less? Or is he simply making the best out of a horrifically bad situation?
I'm really not sure. Ace can be difficult to read at times.
But he certainly was an easy read when he couldn't take his eyes off of Nancy or how hurt he was that Nancy could barely look at him.
They're both in so much pain. And as much as I feel for them, I feel worse for the fans because it is excruciating watching not only Ace and Nancy accept that they're going to be apart but also all of the friends who care about them.

As if knowing the beloved series was coming to an end wasn’t difficult enough, Drew Crew fans were forced to wait a torturous year and four months for the final season to begin.

Let’s take it from the top.

It was filled with things that made us smile, like Nancy in a floral crown, Ace with gorgeous hair, and a My Two Dads breakfast. Add in Bess and Addy making out, a heartfelt talk between Nick and George, and Ryan getting his Porsche back, and we’re more than ready to dive into the latest season of Nancy Drew.
Let’s take it from the top.

No matter where fate propels Oliver Twist—from the workhouse to the funeral home to the hideout of a master pickpocket—the orphan maintains a fierce sense of who he is, plus a willingness to stand up for himself and, yes, even ask for more in his pursuit of a loving home. And Benjamin Pajak, the actor who plays him, is on a similarly dogged quest: a nearly one-kid glorious mission to rescue the New York City Center’s lumpy revival of Lionel Bart’s 1960 musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’s classic novel Oliver Twist.
If it felt like hyperbole to praise the 10-year-old playing Winthrop Paroo in the revival of The Music Man as the most electrifying performer on stage, there’s no need to pull punches now that he’s taken on a title role. Indeed, Pajak, now 12 years old, is a marvel in Oliver! For one, his...

Since he first appeared on "Saved by the Bell: The New Class" in 1993, James Marsden has slowly become a Hollywood mainstay. He rose to fame with roles in movies including "X-Men" and "The Notebook," and his star reached new heights when he showed off his singing skills in "Enchanted" and "Hairspray." More recently, Marsden starred as the kindhearted android Teddy Flood in "Westworld," and he also plays himself in "Jury Duty," albeit a more narcissistic version.

Finding common ground despite our differences is something humanity has always struggled with. Though we all vary in appearance, beliefs, likes, and dislikes, underneath it all, there is a commonality that has the potential to bring us together.
The upcoming Disney/Pixar film "Elemental" is set to tackle that in animation, with the story of a world where everyone corresponds to an element like air, fire, water, and earth, making the differences between them visually clear. "Elemental" will show us how a woman made of fire and a man made of water — who cannot touch — find that they're not so different after all.
"Elemental" features voice performances from Leah Lewis ("Nancy Drew") as Ember Lumen, the fire woman, and Mamoudou Athie ("Jurassic World: Dominion") as Wade Ripple, the water man, and now we've got a new look at their blossoming relationship thanks to Pixar's new trailer.

Best Actress Oscar nominee Andrea Riseborough (“To Leslie”) recently chatted with Gold Derby’s David Buchanan about what it was like working on the low-budget film about an alcoholic mother, Leslie “Lee” Rowlands, who wins the lottery and spends all of her prize money. She opens up about how “To Leslie” didn’t have “hundreds of millions of dollars” for a proper awards campaign, “and that’s as it should be.”

Gary Oldman is one of the greatest film actors of all time. His versatility is so established now that there are internet memes about his uncanny ability to just simply vanish into a role. No other actor could convincingly play real-life figures as diverse as Lee Harvey Oswald and Winston Churchill, let alone such contrasting literary characters as Dracula and George Smiley. It's this versatility that has led to his success and longevity as an actor; he can play the hero, the villain, a supporting role, or a mere cameo, and never gives a part anything less than his all, whether he's playing Beethoven or a CGI peacock.
It's true that he displayed a propensity for playing villains in outlandish science fiction romps like "The Fifth Element," popcorn actioners like "Air Force One," or serial killer thrillers like "Hannibal." However, more recently he has received long overdue recognition for his...

The Series: "The Kid Detective"
Where You Can Stream It: Starz
The Pitch: Remember Nancy Drew? Encyclopedia Brown? The Hardy Boys? Those precocious kid detectives made childhood seem exciting and all they did was solve benign mysteries like The Case of the Missing Pencil Sharpener. But even though their whodunits were small-scale, they were still pretty damn magical. So what happens when you subtract the childhood magic, skip ahead 20 years, and catch up with a 31-year-old washed-up kid detective? Evidently, you get a great movie out of it.
"The Kid Detective" is the story of Adam Brody's Abe Applebaum, a once-celebrated mystery-solving kid who's gone from making headlines in local papers to wallowing in his own self-pity. Still solving...

Update, 3:30 Pm: We finally have a complete Fall 2022 TV schedule, now that Fox has graced us with its presence.
With a lot of that “if it ain’t broke, don’t touch it” mentality, the Murdoch-owned network didn’t exactly drop a ton of surprises after holding out on releasing its line-up with ABC, NBC, CBS and the CW during the upfronts last month. Still, giving the long on the shelf Susan Sarandon, Trace Adkins and Anna Friel starring Monarch a pretty sweet September 11 post-nfl launch perch, Fox did manage to pull focus by being the first network to unveil their premiere dates.
After its gridiron enhanced kick-off, Monarch moves to a Tuesday 9 Pm regular time slot, following The Resident.

The residents of Riverdale are set to say goodbye as The CW has announced that the popular drama series will end its run with the upcoming seventh season. Riverdale was renewed back in March, alongside fellow CW dramas The Flash, All American, Superman & Lois, Walker, Kung Fu, and Nancy Drew. The Archie Comics series is currently airing its sixth season on Sunday nights, averaging a total of 560,000 viewers with Live+7 DVR playback included. The cancellation news came as part of The CW’s 2022 fall schedule release, which confirmed the seventh and final season will debut at midseason in 2023. Riverdale now joins its fellow network shows Dynasty, Charmed, Naomi, 4400, In the Dark, and Roswell, New Mexico, all of which were axed last week. Riverdale was developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and based on the characters from Archie Comics. The show follows a group of teenagers trying to unravel the evils lurking within this seemingly innocent town.

The network that once renewed its entire line-up is making some big decisions.
The CW is up for sale, and it's becoming evident that many of the more marginal performers will probably not be on the 2022-23 schedule.
It's sad, but it's true.
Several shows are in jeopardy, and the cancellations of Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow has us worried about many shows.
Scroll down to find out how we think the network's renewals and cancellations will play out.
Superman & Lois - Renewed
The series is the network's highest-rated in the demo and averages 904,000 viewers and a 0.19 rating.
The show draws a strong reception with critics and is one of the network's biggest hits.
All American - Renewed
It's crazy to think that All American was on the bubble during its first season. It is averaging 568,000 viewers and a 0.17 rating.
Now, the series is the second-highest rated on the network.

"Nancy – let's go to bed." Lionsgate UK has revealed the official international trailer for Good Luck To You, Leo Grande, one of my favorite films from this year's Sundance Film Festival in January. The film is opening on Hulu in the US and in UK cinemas starting on June 17th this summer.
