Sex & Nudity

  • 1 or 2 sexual jokes are made, but they are really easy to miss.
  • Sharky says "There's no ass to kick, or p#ssy to eat"

Violence & Gore

  • Players are able to use guns, their fists and blunt objects (comical) to defeat enemies. No blood spurts can appear when a character takes damage.
  • A man falls off a cliff offscreen.
  • Sometimes, players have to defend themselves when the villain tries to attack them. Players save innocent people.
  • Although the violence can contain little blood, it isn't as realistic looking and blood effects are slightly cartoonish. Many times, blood is covered by the smoke the weapons cause.
  • Beatings are accompanied by brief blood spurts.
  • A Corpse is seen (comical) There's no blood on the bodies of the corpse. It's not graphic.
  • The player is often encouraged to approach outposts stealthy knocking out enemies with their fists.
  • Right at the beginning of the game, the most brutal thing of the game happens: It's implied that a man falls off a cliff.
  • Most of the time blood will be totally absent. Though when you actually see blood it's very little. Very tame for a M rated game.
  • The main antagonist in a cutscene describes how he killed his newborn daughter. Not really graphic in description but can be a little disturbing and unsettling to some
  • Not that violent in general
  • Constant shooting and some explosions.
  • There are multiple dead animals strung up, cut in half and dotted around the map, and they may upset some.
  • There are multiple corpses strung up and plotted around the map. These are generally quite gory, from having antlers stuck into bare flesh in their stomach, to strung-up victims in body bags. These are generally easy to miss, although missions that include storming one of the Herald's "bunkers", they are quite easy to see.
  • Blood sprays are seen on certain walls and floors after killing a character, and your character's firearm and clothes can appear to be soaked with blood if you take enough damage.
  • Occasional blood pools and marks are found beside and upon victims of the cult.

Profanity

  • F*ck is heard sometimes
  • Some sexual slangs such as p*ssy also appear in dialogue.
  • There is also infrequent use of the word d*ck
  • There is a good amount of swearing in this game, but nothing that most teens couldn't handle.
  • "c*cksucking* is also said.
  • Keep in mind that the game is a lot longer than a movie, almost 20 hours so the cursing is quite infrequent and will for most of the time not be heard (because all of the swearing isn't in the cutscenes)
  • The only thing justifying the M rating (even according to ESRB:s standards). Although it is very infrequent, well also the fact that there are naked women in the game.
  • SEVERE amounts of language, almost every swear word is used in this game, F#ck, sh!t, b!tch, @ss, d!ck, pu$$y, jizz, hell, d@mn, cu#t, c#ck, hoe and b@stard are said throughout the game.
  • Numerous mentions to God and Christ throughout the game.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters are seen drinking various alcoholic substances.
  • Not to much and is really easy to miss
  • At some outposts, players can encounter a gas which will cause nausea.
  • Players can access a pouch of green material labelled oregano, described as being "Surprisingly tasty in brownies". This gives a similar affect to the nauseating flowers, making it quite obviously a disguised version of cannabis.
  • Alcohol can be drunk at free will by the player, however, nothing happens except the screen gets blurry and the character cannot walk straight

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The game can be really thrilling at times. Alongside that most players will find themselves in situations where in the game most scenes are followed by combat, these scenes can go on for a while.
  • There's scene where a bear chases you. The bear doesn't get hurt.
  • The main villain, Joseph Seed, is extremely deranged, psychotic, fanatical, merciless and sinister. His personality goes on par with Vaas Montenegro, the main villain from "Far Cry 3", and this could be disturbing and scary for some.
  • There are a few suicide scenes, and many references to suicide, including the main characters jumping off tall places then waking up, realizing that they were in a drug-addled state.
