Ryan Coogler could be exploring extraterrestrials in a possible reboot of “The X-Files.”
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” writer-director Coogler and his Proximity banner are teased to be helming an updated reimagining of the Fox series that aired from 1993 to 2002. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson starred, with the franchise spurring two movies and two continuation seasons between 2016 and 2018 whose quality was controversial among fans.
Original “X-Files” series creator Chris Carter said during the “On the Coast” podcast that the rumored upcoming project will be a “remount” for the legacy series.
“I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount ‘The X-Files’ with a diverse cast,” Carter shared. “So he’s got his work cut out for him, because we covered so much territory.”
IndieWire has reached out to representatives for Coogler and 20th Century Television for comment. Whatever form the Cooger-led series takes will likely play on Disney-owned Hulu,...

Michael B. Jordan is “corny” no more.
The “Creed III” director-star recognized a former classmate on the red carpet for the film’s premiere. “Morning Hustle” host Lore’l attended high school with Jordan in Newark, New Jersey, and previously admitted to teasing Jordan on the “Undressing Room” podcast.
“To be honest with you, we teased him all the damn time because his name was Michael Jordan. Let’s start there – and he was no Michael Jordan,” Lore’l said (via The Independent). “And he also would come to school with a headshot. We lived in Newark; that’s the hood. We would make fun of him like, ‘What are you going to do with your stupid headshot?’ And now look at him.”
Lore’l’s co-host Dominique added that Jordan seemed like a “nice, corny guy.”
“You know what I really think deep down inside? I think that Michael B.

It has been such a pleasure watching Michael B. Jordan evolve onscreen. From his breakout as Wallace, the emotional center of the first season of The Wire, to Vince Howard, the anchor of the latter seasons of Friday Night Lights, on to film projects that showcased his true leading man ability like Creed and Fruitvale Station, Jordan has always projected both naturalism and star power. He’s been compared to Denzel Washington by The Hollywood Reporter, listed as a “rising young star” in just about every media trade publication, and has even been named People’s Sexiest Man Alive. Yet despite this, Jordan still projects an everyman quality that makes him believable in superhero spectacles and courtroom dramas alike.
Jordan’s next film is Without Remorse, which hits Amazon Prime on Friday. Based on the Tom Clancy novel of the same name, Without Remorse is a film set in the...

Update: MGM confirms Michael B. Jordan will make his directorial debut with “Creed III,” opening in theaters Thanksgiving 2022. Jordan will star, produce, and direct, with Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad expected to reprise their roles. Deadline has confirmed that author Ta-Nehisi Coates is writing a Superman reboot feature for Warner Bros and DC, which J.J. Abrams is producing under his Bad Robot label.

The problem with making a movie as critically acclaimed and commercially successful as Black Panther is that people will soon start wondering if you can do it all over again. Indeed, expectations are already high for Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther 2, but from the sound of things, the director isn’t letting all the pressure get to him.
In an interview with IndieWire, Coogler observed how none of his three feature films have exactly been walks in the park, and so this upcoming project is just one more challenge to take on.
“I think the pressure is kind of always going to be there,” Coogler said. “I’ve had a chance to make three feature films, each one of them had its own very specific type of pressure. In the process of it, it feels insurmountable each time.”

Michael B. Jordan is more than just an actor, and his rapidly expanding Hollywood portfolio speaks to a performer eager to leave his mark on all sorts of projects. It doesn’t hurt that he’s been inspired by a few of the entertainment industry’s most successful and formidable talents, including LeBron James and Jay-Z.
In the new cover story for Vanity Fair, Jordan’s big ambitions are top of mind, including his plan to be, in the words of journalist Joe Hagan, nothing less than “a one-man movie studio whose every move has a dollar sign attached to it and for whom nothing is left to chance.” Jordan is well on his way to that, too, bolstered by “multi-million-dollar endorsement deals, his own production company, and a new marketing-and-consulting start-up in the works.”

After grossing over $1.3 billion worldwide and becoming the third highest grossing movie in U.S. box office history (unadjusted for inflation), Marvel’s “Black Panther” is inevitably going to get a sequel. Chadwick Boseman will return in the lead role, of course, but will the same be true for director Ryan Coogler? Neither the director nor Marvel has announced who will direct “Black Panther 2,” but the studio is actively hoping Cooger returns behind the camera.
“We definitely want Ryan to come back and that’s actively being worked out right now,” Feige told Collider. “When will it be? A lot of it will be when Ryan wants to and not rushing anything, but I think we have an idea of when it will be. But, again, [we’re] not going to announce any post-‘Avengers 4’ movies until hopefully after ‘Avengers 4,’ which is another reason we’re not going to Comic-Con.”

Don't panic: it's not a remake of the earlier film. But there's a new Black Hole movie coming...
Charles Burns’ graphic novel Black Hole turned teen dreams into an adolescent nightmare. A sexually transmitted virus was being spread and it had the strangest side effects. Dope and Confirmation director Rick Famuyiwa will write and direct the New Regency and Plan B’s film adaptation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Black Hole was a 12-issue graphic novel published between 1994 and 2004, and collected in book in 2005. Set in Seattle in the 1970s, it follows a group of teens contract a sexually transmitted disease called “the Bug.” The side effects included mutations like having a second mouth grow on someone’s chin.
“We learn from the outset that a strange plague has descended upon the area’s teenagers, transmitted by sexual contact,” according to the Amazon synopsis.

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler explains why he passed on directing Creed 2...
Riding high off the back of his extraordinary success with Black Panther, writer and director Ryan Coogler is next set to make Wrong Answer, a film that’ll reunite him for the fourth time with Michael B Jordan. Details on that project can be found here.
Jordan, right now, is set to start filming Creed 2, the follow-up to the Rocky spin-off that Coogler directed. But this time, Coogler isn’t involved in the project, with Steven Caple Jr set to direct the new movie instead.
Coogler has now confirmed in a new interview that scheduling was part of the reason he couldn’t do the new film. But as it turns out, it’s not the only reason. "I mean of course it was possible", he explained. "Creed was about my dad and me, so...

The Black Panther and Creed duo, Ryan Coogler and Michael B Jordan, are teaming again for Wrong Answer...
At this point, Black Panther might just be the biggest superhero movie of all-time. Opening larger than any solo superhero film yet — bigger than Batman, Spider-Man, or Iron Man — and having a larger four-day haul in the Us than even Marvel Studios’ highest grossing movie, The Avengers, all eyes are certainly on Ryan Coogler’s newest film.
But for fans of the merely 31-year-old filmmaker, as well as the film’s villain played by Michael B. Jordan, this and the movie’s overall sterling quality is hardly a surprise. After all, it’s Coogler and Jordan’s third collaboration, as well as their third success.
Indeed, the duo teamed on Coogler’s directorial debut, the harrowing Fruitvale Station, before graduating to a franchise film that landed on the awards circuit with Creed.

Last night Sylvester Stallone announced on Instagram that he will be directing “Creed 2.” “Looking forward to directing and Producing The incredibly talented Michael B Jordan in Creed 2 next year … One more Round!,” wrote Stallone.
Stallone has previously said he had completed writing the first draft of the script for “Creed 2” and hinted he is bringing back Dolph Lundgren’s Ivan Drago character (and presumedly his offspring) from “Rocky 4.” Last month Stallone also announced production would begin in 2018, although distributor MGM told Variety the project was still in development.
In addition to writing and starring in the original “Rocky,” Stallone had directed four of the previous sequels, including “Rocky Balboa” — made 30 years after the original, when Stallone was 60 years old — which was assumed to bring closure to the successful franchise.

There are lots of ways to get prepared for a scene. In the case of “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman, one method involves sparring with your director. That’s according to a new interview with the actor, who spoke to Vulture about “throwin’ punches and kicks” with helmer Ryan Coogler.
