Real Good Cinema

This short film is impressive. The subtle beauty of the story and the character was very refreshing for the audience. The cinematography is beautiful as is the editing and the use of source music. This feels like a European movie from many years ago, I felt that it was classic film but with a colorful and bright new cinematic atmosphere.

An enjoyable short film with some amazing scenes
puroresumatt30 July 2017
I enjoyed watching this short film. Kitakyushu is fast becoming an Almeria, but for major players. A lot of big budget movies, TV shows, and commercials are filmed in the Garden Paradise that is Kitakyushu, so it was nice to see an independently funded art-house film use Kitakyushu as its backdrop. Director M.J. Di Rocco did a fine job casting a local actress and incorporating some amazing Kitakyushu scenery. While I am pretty much a spaghetti western fan, I was able to thoroughly enjoy this movie. It is nice to see it getting a lot of media attention, as well. Hopefully, they will be able to get funding for the upcoming chapters of this series. Definitely worth a watch!

I enjoyed this short movie. The story was simple and that made it charming, it was a character study and a study of human happiness. The imagery is a pleasure for the eyes, it was very well shot. Moreover, the way the director uses music in the movie is excellent. The main girl in the movie is very good, her character is identifiable for anyone watching the movie.

Amazing Film

I am glad I could watch this movie. It was amazing and it had very beautiful scenes. The story and the character made the audience think. They style in which this movie was made lets the audience to decide the meaning. I was impressed that a short film could make me think about so many things. I think the directing, acting and the shooting are all excellent. Many movies today, have action and special effects, it was nice to see one with focus on story and humanity. I am very impressed and I want to watch it again if I can.

Great Short!

I caught this movie at the Buffalo International Film Festival (great fest!) and I was quite surprised by this Japanese short. The movie left its impression on myself and most of the audience. Its amazingly shot, the cinematography beautifully compliments the story. It seems that each shot is composed just perfectly for the what the main character is expressing in her voice over. Her acting is great too, I think anyone can identify with her. The music is right on target too and everything just works so well together. I always like seeking out shorts because they are the secret surprises of cinema.

This film is nothing short (no pun intended) of brilliant. It left quite the mark on me. The story, the music, the actress--WOW. All of it just seemed to flow nicely. The cinematography is stunning, every shot seems perfect and the colors just pop! The way the subtly of the story is brought forth through the energy of the character and the cinematography, is really magnificent to watch.

Worth seeing.

I don't usually watch short films, I prefer features because the stories and characters are more drawn out. I was taken to see a block of short movies, which included Kitakyushu Stories. Of all of them, I felt that this one made the whole block of movies worthwhile. It is able to tell a layered story and develop a complex character in 20 minutes. Well made, with solid acting and some scenes that stand out. I liked that it felt like classic cinema, it didn't try to wow me with big CG or FX. Impressive work.

Well shot, great film to look at and it has an intriguing story. The message in the film is delivered subtly and you can't help but see the world from the character's eyes. its refreshing to see a movie with emphasis on classic visual style. This is what art house move making is all about. I'm glad I discovered it. It's a sweet little film.
