In Japanese culture, the word for "four" is considered unlucky because it is very similar to the word for "death", hence Ayako's comment that there is no Room 4 on the bedroom level. Another number, which is given to one of the guests, is also considered unlucky because it is very similar to the word for "pain" or "suffering".
The recorded accusations against the ten are given in the same order as in the original novel (mostly alphabetical by the original characters' last names - Doctor Armstrong, Miss Brent, Detective Blore, Miss Claythorne, etc.). The explanations given by the ten (or rather, nine, since Mrs. Midorikawa is not in the scene) are also given in the same order as in the original novel, and with many of the same transitions and embellishments (for example, the doctor questioning the honesty of the judge's explanation, or the general comforting the secretary before launching into his own story).
