Great song, great video, featuring Saoirse Ronan no less.

Lovely.

"Galway Girl" is a recent song by Ed Sheeran and here we got the music video accompanying it. It says on imdb 5 minutes runtime, but the version I watched barely makes it past 3 minutes. Writer and director is Jason Koenig who worked with Sheeran on other projects too, but is mostly known for his many many collabs with Macklemore and Lewis. The song is pretty simple and not too deep. However, it is somewhat catchy. The real reason to see it though is because the title character is played by Saoirse Ronan, one of the finest actresses of her generation. And even if she was somewhat wasted here, her presence still elevates the video a lot I must say and clearly she is the main reason why I give this one a thumbs-up and recommend checking it out. I am generally far from a Sheeran fan, but he did okay here I guess. Still Ronan is the positive deal breaker and the reason why you should not just buy the CD, but watch the music video. Go for it, especially if you like the actress as much as I do (or even more).
