The satirical psychological horror American Psycho was released in 2000. Set in Manhattan during the late 1980s Wall Street boom, the film follows the story of a wealthy man named Patrick Bateman who works as an investment banker in Manhattan.
Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman in a still from American Psycho
When the film was released in 2000, it shot Christian Bale to fame and cemented Patrick Bateman as an iconic character. There were times when people used to look up to him as the role model. And all those gym fanatics were obsessed with getting Bateman’s sinewy body.
It’s nearly impossible to imagine anyone other than Bale as Patrick Bateman, but fans believe there’s an actor who can pull it off. Now, with talks of a remake of American Psycho underway, it’s Tom Holland who is receiving strong backing from fans to play the lead role.

The disaster film Twister (watch it Here) was a massive success for Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, and Amblin Entertainment when it was released during the summer movie season in 1996. Made on a budget of $90 million, it earned almost $500 million at the global box office and ranked as the tenth highest-grossing film of all time. Quickly cashing in with a sequel would have made a lot of sense. But while there were rumors – including a memorable one that said the sequel would involve a tornado hitting a major city – a follow-up never made it into production. Until now. Universal and Amblin are reviving the Twister IP with a film called Twisters, which is set to receive a theatrical release on July 19, 2024. Twenty-eight years later, will it be able to replicate or surpass the success of its predecessor? We’ll have to wait and see. But for know, we’re going to...

All anybody wants to talk about these days is flooding, winter vortexes, and other natural disasters stemming from the ongoing climate crisis. Well, apparently, the tornado from "Twister" got wind of this (I'm sorry) and is back with a vengeance in the newly unveiled Super Bowl trailer for "Twisters."
Neither a direct follow-up to director Jan de Bont's 1996 natural disaster thriller nor a complete reboot of the franchise, "Twisters" follows a new team of storm chasers as they battle destructive cyclones in the present day. Apparently, at one point, "Twister" star Helen Hunt and "Blindspotting" co-writers/co-stars Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal pitched a proper legacy sequel that, according to Hunt, would've focused on "all Black and Brown storm chasers." However, the studio powers that be didn't go for it for "potentially shady" reasons, as Diggs told Business Insider last year.

Super Bowl Lviii on Sunday night out of Las Vegas brought more than just excitement for 49ers and Chiefs fans: Universal Pictures debuted the first footage from Lee Isaac Chung’s “Twisters” during the big game. Check it out below.
The Golden Globe-winning director’s first film since “Minari” serves as a follow-up to Jan de Bont’s 1996 original blockbuster about storm chasers in Oklahoma, led by Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt. “Twisters” is written by Mark L. Smith, the scribe behind “The Revenant” (with Alejandro G. Iñárritu) and director George Clooney’s Netflix sci-fi “The Midnight Sky.” Chung’s film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos, with Universal releasing the picture on July 19, 2024 in the United States.
Plans for a “Twisters” follow-up have been in the works for half a decade, with Helen Hunt pitching a sequel about a diverse set of storm chasers that she said the studio rejected.

You can add The Beekeeper to the long list of action movies named for the jobs their protagonist took up after laying down their weapons and trying to live a peaceful life: The Gardener, The Painter, The Bricklayer… etc, etc. Actually Adam Clay always was a beekeeper, that was the name of the elite unit he was a part of before he retired to actually raise bees. He does this on a farm owned by Eloise Parker somewhere in a very confused part of England that wants us to believe it’s actually Western Massachusetts.
Eloise, who is supposed to be a retired teacher and should know better, falls for one of those computer scams that says you have a virus and to call this number to have it removed.

Bottom Dollar is closing shop.
Starz has opted to cancel Minx, the comedy about the first porn magazine for women, after a two-season run. The news comes after the series from creator Ellen Rapoport was originally developed for Warner Bros. Discovery streamer Max, which aired the first season and paid for a second before ultimately scrapping the show as a tax write-off with mere days remaining before production on the sophomore run was completed.
Minx was shopped by producers Lionsgate Television with the studio ultimately setting up the comedy starring Jake Johnson and Ophelia Lovibond at Starz, which is currently controlled by its parent company, Lionsgate. Max effectively paid to produce season two, with Lionsgate footing the bill to complete production and market season two. The second season premiered in July, in the thick of the writers and performers’ strikes making it challenging for cast members and producers to promote the show’s return.

‘Shadow And Bone’, ‘Glamorous’ & ‘Agent Elvis’ Among 5 Series Canceled By Netflix Amid Strike Impact
Exclusive: Netflix will not be going forward with more seasons of live-action series Shadow and Bone and Glamorous and adult animated comedies Agent Elvis, Farzar and Captain Fall.
The decision was made a week after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike and a month and a half after the end of the WGA work stoppage as networks and platforms continue to evaluate the impact from the strike-related seven-month production shutdown.
While there had been a slew of series cancellations and un-renewals by linear networks and streamers during and immediately after the strikes, Netflix had largely refrained from making cancellation decisions during the past 6½ months while announcing a number of renewals, including One Piece (S2), Ginny & Georgia (S3 and S4); The Lincoln Lawyer (S3), Xo, Kitty (S2), Heartstopper (S2 and S3), The Night Agent (S2 picked up on the eve of the WGA strike), The Diplomat (S2), Fubar (S2), Sweet Magnolias...

Starz is going back to gladiator school, with the network greelighting the new series “Spartacus: House of Ashur.”
The series will see Nick Tarabay return as Ashur, while original “Spartacus” series creator Steven S. DeKnight onboard as executive producer and showrunner. The show was first reported to be in development back in February.
The official description states, “The series poses the question: what if Ashur hadn’t died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of ‘Spartacus: Vengeance?’ And what if he had been gifted the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus in return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and putting an end to the slave rebellion?”

Ava DuVernay’s romantic drama series, which landed a three-year script-to-series commitment in May 2022, is not moving forward at Starz, Deadline has confirmed.
The series had begun filming in Wilmington, N.C., in March but was paused in May due to the WGA strike. It was to star Joshua Jackson and Lauren Ridloff, who also executive produced, and followed two polar opposites who become intertwined in a love affair that turns their worlds – and those of everyone around them – upside down.
Within the past month or so, Starz made a similar decision not to go forward with The Venery of Samantha Bird, which also had paused production in May due to the strikes with two episodes left to film, and also canceled Heels, Run The World and Blindspotting after two seasons each.

Ava DuVernay’s untitled drama, starring and executive produced by Joshua Jackson and Lauren Ridloff, is not moving forward at Starz, Variety has confirmed.
The series had begun filming in Wilmington, N.C., in March but was paused in May due to the WGA strike. Starz decided not to move forward with the series following DuVernay’s decision to walk away after her overall deal with Warner Bros. TV came to an end in May. Additionally, Starz has been making multiple series changes; in September, the network axed “Heels,” “Run the World” and “Blindspotting.” Plus, “The Venery of Samantha Bird,” which began filming, paused during the WGA strike and is not continuing.
The DuVernay drama, which had received a three-season pickup, reunited Jackson and Ridloff, who co-starred in Broadway’s 2018 rendition of “Child of a Lesser God.”

There are some big changes at Starz, and it's bad news for four shows.
Variety reported Monday evening that the premium cabler has canceled Heels, Run the World, and Blindspotting and is scrapping The Venery of Samantha Bird ahead of its premiere.
Heels, Run the World, and Blindspotting lasted for two seasons on the premium cabler, but it seems that the trio didn't have enough interest to sustain additional seasons.
The highest profile of the three shows was Heels, which starred Stephen Amell as Jack Spade, a man who inherited the league from his father.
However, he struggled to keep things running well, leading to plenty of drama across the two seasons.
The cast also included Alexander Ludwig, Chris Bauer, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, and Trey Tucker.
Rounding out the cast were Robby Ramos, Alice Barrett Mitchell, Roxton Garcia, David James Elliott, Joel Murray, and Cm Punk.

Starz is canceling four of its series, Variety has learned exclusively. Specifically, “Heels,” “Run the World,” and “Blindspotting” will not get new seasons at the cable network, while “The Venery of Samantha Bird” Season 1 is being scrapped without airing.
“Heels,” “Run the World,” and “Blindspotting” all recently aired their second season at Starz, while “The Venery of Samantha Bird” was in production on its first season. Production was shut down, however, at the onset of the WGA strike. It was reported at the time that only two episodes of the first season were left to shoot.
“The Venery of Samantha Bird” was to star Katherine Langford as the title character. Per the official logline, “Samantha, while visiting family in New England, reconnects with her childhood sweetheart and falls headlong into a seemingly perfect storybook romance. But the couple’s picture-perfect love story isn’t as sweet as it seems on the surface.

"Twister," one of the most successful disaster movies of all time, is finally getting a sequel set to release in 2024, more than twenty-five years after its debut in 1996 (per Deadline). Legacy sequels made long after the original entries are still going strong as ever, if the wild critical and financial achievements of "Top Gun: Maverick" weren't proof enough, so it was only a matter of time before the highest-grossing movie about a natural disaster got a chance to return to its former glory.

Frank Marshall, husband of Kathleen Kennedy (who co-produced the first entry) and co-founder of the Kennedy/Marshall Company, is also producing. "You don't get to doubt my loyalty!" Starz has debuted an official trailer for the Blindspotting TV series, which will premiere on Starz starting in June. We're breaking our no-tv rules to feature this trailer, mostly because it's also a chance to highlight the outstanding film this show is based on. Blindspotting premiered at Sundance in 2018 and earned quite a bit of acclaim, but it's still being discovered by more people. This new show is executive produced by Rafael Casal & Daveed Diggs from the film, and Casal co-stars and is also working as the showrunner. Set right after the events of the film, the show focuses on Ashley, played by Jasmine Cephas Jones, Miles' partner who must now deal with the challenges of life after he ends up in prison. The cast includes Helen Hunt, Jaylen Barron, Ziggy Baitinger, April Absynth, and Andrew Chappelle. "This provocative and powerful narrative couldn't be more timely,...

The 2018 feature “Blindspotting” remains one of those movies that many felt should have been bigger. Now, there’s an opportunity to celebrate the story and learn more about the world courtesy of Starz’s upcoming series adaptation, which has unveiled its first trailer.
The series picks up six months after the events of the film and focuses on Ashley (played by Jasmine Cephas-Jones), the girlfriend of Miles (Rafael Casal), who’s trying to establish a quality middle-class life in Oakland, CA. But after her boyfriend is arrested and sent to prison, Ashley and her young son are forced to move in with Miles’ mother, Rainey (Helen Hunt) and his half-sister Trish (Jaylen Barron).
The trailer certainly shows off the bombastic world established in “Blindspotting,” with bold colors, wry humor, and existential questions delivered straight to camera. It also features Casal, who co-wrote and co-starred in the movie, though his writing and onscreen partner,...

Another standout performance from the young actor lifts a sturdy, if at times uneven, tale of a teen unknowingly caught up in a crime
Although it screened back at the 2018 Sundance film festival, stark Harlem-set drama Monster about a black teen swallowed up by a cruel legal system, remains just as timely in 2021, a story of a grim predicament that would probably feel similarly relevant in another three or even six years down the line. Strange that it’s gathered dust for so long, less a sign of its quality and packed cast (many of whom have grown in stature since) and more perhaps of the time of its premiere, nestled alongside two other dramas covering crudely similar ground (Blindspotting and Monsters and Men), finding itself swallowed up by an industry still only willing to give black stories a small piece of the pie.
