The "Murder In..." series isn't usually this grim. It has a happy-ish ending, but throughout it's a lot of very stressful and unhappy family interactions. It's also even less realistic than most cop shows. There are apparently only two police officers in this entire area? Why don't Tess and Francois seem to have any coworkers? Why is Tess's husband so irrational about his accident? Maybe it's because I'm American, but any bad guy waving a realistic toy gun at cops can expect to get shot dead and no one would blink an eye. And who in God's name would let their young teenage daughter spend the night alone with a creepy old guy the family barely knows? And finally, these "Murder In" episodes generally feature attractive scenery, but this one has lots of ugly industrial-wasteland shots. Definitely not my favorite entry in the series.
