Tenerife-based Bendita Film Sales has taken international sales rights to Nely Reguera’s sophomore outing, drama “La voluntaria” (“The Volunteer”), toplining “Broken Embraces,” “Perfect Life” and Piggy” star Carmen Machi, one of the biggest marquee draws in Spain.

Ricky Martin had long been an international superstar before he began “Livin’ La Vida Loca” — and there seems to have been hardly a dull moment in the 20 years since.
In 2010, the Puerto Rican singer came out to his fans as a gay man; nearly 10 years later, he received his first Emmy nomination, for his role in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. This spring, Martin — now a father of four with his husband, Syrian-born artist Jwan Yosef — released a new EP, Pausa, featuring collaborations with Sting, Residente and Bad Bunny.

Wait For It. More than just one of the best songs in Hamilton—that Aaron Burr has soul!—those words signify how long fans around the world have waited to see Hamilton performed. Not everyone could afford a ticket at the height of the musical’s popularity or lived near a city where the touring show has visited. Yet now, in times when the lights across Broadway are out, we all can be in the room where it happens.
Thanks to Disney+, and the $75 million the Walt Disney Company shelled out for the rights, a filmed performance with the original Broadway cast of Hamilton is here. Exclusive: Isaac Powell, who originated the lead role of Tony in Ivo van Howe’s Broadway revival of West Side Story, has signed with CAA.
For his critically acclaimed performance, which includes a production highlight in the classic musical number “Maria,” Powell received an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical and was nominated for the Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance. (Tony Award nominations have not been announced due to the ongoing Covid-19 Broadway shutdown.)
The actor made headlines even before West Side Story’s opening night on February 20: Producer Scott Rudin postponed the opening night by two weeks to wait for a recuperating Powell, who had injured his knee onstage.
Powell made his Broadway debut – two months after graduating from the University of North Carolina’s School of the Arts – as Daniel in director Michael Arden’s 2017 Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Once On This Island.

Fernando Bustamante, who raps and produces as Crudo Means Raw, is finely attuned to the power of the loop. Both his viral hit “La Mitad De La Mitad” and the follow-up “Maria” gained much of their undeniable energy from funky, circular bass fillips.
But on his new track “Novena,” Bustamante shifts his focus to a sinuous guitar line. One lick slinks forward and ends on a higher, questioning note; another riff provides a reassuring answer. The attenuated tone of the guitar suggests traditional Colombian music, but also rap radio hits from 20 years ago.

“West Side Story,” one of the most beloved and enduring Broadway musicals of all time, has often been seen on the Great White Way since it premiered more than sixty years ago, but never quite like this. The revolutionary musical has been reimagined in equally revolutionary fashion this season by Tony-winning director Ivo van Hove (“A View From the Bridge”), whose production opened at the Broadway Theatre on February 20.
This modern, taut staging of the Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Arthur Laurents musical stars Isaac Powell and Shereen Pimentel as star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria, who lead a company that boasts dozens of Broadway debuts. To distinguish his take on this iconic material, van Hove enlisted Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker to contribute new choreography––controversially replacing Jerome Robbins’ original, indelible dances––as well as designer Luke Halls to create videos that accompany the onstage action on a massive screen that...

One of the breathtaking moments in director Ivo van Hove’s bold, gorgeous multi-media re-imagining of the great New York musical West Side Story comes when those famously brawling street gangs restrain the tale’s star-crossed lovers from kissing. Each side pulls its own, tug-of-war-style, one holding back Tony, the other Maria, and it takes every last Jet and Shark to do the job. They succeed, more or less and just barely.
If there’s a fresher, more vivid way to interpret “Tonight,” that classic ballad of hope and anticipation, it likely hasn’t been seen since this 1957 Broadway masterwork debuted all those decades ago. The tableau – at once funny and ominous – is set against a video backdrop depicting a New York street as rainy and full of shadow as any film noir. Theatrical stylization collides bang-on with cinematic realism, and the result is thrilling.

Reports that the McU’s Hawkeye TV show has been delayed indefinitely have prompted a mixed response from Marvel fans on social media.
Though Clint Barton’s Disney Plus series was previously expected to premiere in 2021, popular scoopster Charles Murphy relayed intel this weekend saying that the show has been removed from this year’s production schedule. Naturally, the internet has its opinions on the matter, and while some fans are hoping that the delay could help secure Hailee Steinfeld for the role of Kate Bishop, others would apparently be happy to see the series scrapped completely:

Things move pretty quickly in the opening third of Avengers: Endgame. So while the film has much to tell us about the effects of Thanos’ genocidal snap from last year’s Infinity War, it only figures that the movie doesn’t find the time to confirm the fate of each and every McU regular.
That being said, in the official Endgame screenplay – which was recently released online for awards consideration – we get a short breakdown of some of the Mad Titan’s dusted victims, including a few characters whose whereabouts were left ambiguous in the final film.
The text in question reads as follows:
“A Holo-display Rotating Through Faces Of People We’Ve Lost: Wanda. Vision. Bucky. T’Challa. Maria Hill.
Rhodey
It’s been twenty-three days since Thanos came to Earth.
Tony, weak, sits in a hi-tech wheelchair, IV dripping into his arm. He stares, taking in the loss: Sam Wilson.

As a young man, Che Apalache leader Joe Troop left his native North Carolina and spent time working and playing music in other parts of the world — Spain, Morocco, and Japan, before settling in Argentina. He’s lived the immigrant experience as an American abroad, and that instilled in him a great amount of empathy for anyone attempting to do likewise in the States.
“People will talk about you in front of you, as if you weren’t there,” says Troop. “Being an immigrant takes a lot of courage.”

Colombia’s viral chart is generally awash in tuneful reggaeton — the dominant sound of commercial pop in that country, with its tightly programmed beats and curt rumbles of bass. But in June 2018, an unusual song rocketed to the top of the Spotify ranking: “La Mitad De La Mitad” by Crudo Means Raw. The looping rhythm section evokes old funk records, rather than laptop wizardry, and instead of sketching tales of love (or at least lust), the lyrics rallied against new anti-drug laws in the country.

Chicago – “When you’re a Jet, you’re a Jet all the way … “ And there is no more appropriate way to lyrically pay tribute to a classic staging of the Leonard Bernstein/Stephen Sondheim musical, “West Side Story.” There is a new staging currently at Lyric Opera of Chicago, which runs through June 2nd, 2019. Click here for more details and tickets.
Play Rating: 4.5/5.0
The musical first opened in 1957, and its message of fearing the “other” – by adapting the universality of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” – will resonate as long as people suffer through their bigotry. Two rival gangs, girl-from-one-side-guy-from-another then meet/fall in love, tragedy ensues, and along the way are one of the greatest collections of songs/lyrics in one musical, so standard that they are practically in everyone’s DNA. It’s “West Side Story,” babies, and this latest adaptation at the Lyric Opera of Chicago is spot on entertaining.

Without any formal film school training, Lopez dropped out of college early when he realized that his true calling was in the entertainment industry, behind the curtains particularly in dark editing rooms where he started. He went on to pursue a career in broadcasting in local Philippine TV networks and in the advertising industry as a self-taught video editor. Then, he went on to teach himself visual effects and motion design until finally moving on to visual effects as a VFX supervisor. Eventually, he became an accomplished and award-winning music video director and TV commercial director – sought-after for his attention to detail and technical creative vision as well as his extensive expertise in post-production and visual effects.

The theme of the female vigilante with the additional value of the protagonist being a very beautiful woman not previously associated in any way with the action genre, has been working quite well recently for the Philippino film industry. In that fashion, after Richard Somes‘s “We Will Not Die Tonight” with Erich Gonzalez came Erik Matti’s “BuyBust” with Anne Curtis and now was the time for the latter’s co-protagonist in “No Other Woman”, Cristine Reyes, to play Pedring Lopez’s “Maria”.
The rather generic story involves a former BlackRose cartel assassin named Lily, who, after refusing to complete her last mission, has escaped and managed to evade the grasp of the syndicate, even forming her own family. Some years later, and as the power struggles in the organization, between Kaleb and Victor, the two number 2s in the hierarchy, rise over the assassination of an influential politician,...
