Sauron’s rise in Season 2 of “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will begin August 29 when the new installment of Amazon Prime Video’s fantasy series based on J.R.R. Tolkien IP arrives on the streamer. Prime Video released a teaser trailer and behind-the-scenes featurette Monday. Based on parts of Tolkien’s posthumous “The Silmarillion,” the series has a planned arc of five seasons.
What is ‘Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2 about?
The drama series takes place thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” books with an ensemble cast of familiar faces mixed with new characters. Set in the not-for-long peaceful Second Age of Middle Earth, the show marks a first-time venture into the adaptation of Tolkein’s history of the fabled period. Villain Sauron (Charlie Vickers) will be “out and about...

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a prequel to the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogy, started airing on Prime Video in 2022. The series got a lot of flak from fans because of poor writing as well as because of the speed at which the story unfolded. Many found it to be lacking because most people were unable to connect with the characters or the story itself.

The first trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 has been debuted (via SFFGazette.com), teasing the ramifications of Sauron's return to Middle-earth.
The Dark Lord is in disguise after sowing discord in the elven kingdom of Eregion by manipulating Celebrimbor into forging the show's titular rings of power. We saw three of them in the season 1 finale, though Sauron still has plenty of work to do: remember, there are seven rings for the Dwarves, nine for mortal men, and his own, secret "One Ring to Rule Them All."
There are plenty of exciting teases throughout this trailer, including a glimpse of the Stranger wielding a wooden staff. While not confirmed, all signs point to him being a young Gandalf and it looks like his story will remain key to The Rings of Power.
Elsewhere, you'll spot Mount Doom, a Great Eagle, and even...

All hail the king ... or the queen! Which one has the rightful claim, you ask? Well, that depends on which side you happen to have sworn allegiance to in the great Targaryen schism known as the Dance of the Dragons.
"House of the Dragon" lived up to its billing as an essential "Game of Thrones" prequel, set hundreds of years before Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen ever made their claims on the Iron Throne. The events of the mythic Targaryen civil war always loomed large in the background of the original HBO series, but never before had we seen the fire, blood, and (of course) incest depicted with as much fervor as the 10 episodes that comprised its debut season. With all the major players fully established and the stakes set impossibly high, season 2 now has a full runway to double down on our favorite royal squabble and dive deep into...

Whether you liked it or not, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power became a hit series for Amazon, and it was expected that the series would be renewed for a second season. The series explored the era of Tolkien’s world before the main series, as well as the story of The Hobbit, expanding the universe we’ve already explored earlier. Now, some of the fans weren’t happy with the series in general, but the series has done fairly well and we are now waiting to see where it heads in the upcoming season. The second season will premiere later this year, and Amazon is slowly heating up for the upcoming premiere, which is what we are going to do with this report as well.

A lot of hype surrounded the debut of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” on Prime Video. The series is reportedly the most expensive in history (when you include the cost of the rights and all that), and it’s a new story set in the world of Tolkien’s classic fantasy series. And the result was, well…fine. It had a lot of viewers and was seemingly a hit for Prime Video, but it didn’t have the same sort of excitement that the “Game of Thrones” prequel did.

Today brings us some big news for the most annoying people you know. Seemingly out of nowhere, "The Lord of the Rings" has become a hot commodity once again between the recent announcement of the "Hunt for Gollum" spin-off/prequel movie, this year's upcoming animated effort titled "The War of the Rohirrim," and, of course, the ongoing television show that's caused no controversy or divided opinions whatsoever known as "The Rings of Power."
Set thousands of years prior to the events of "The Fellowship of the Ring" during the period known as the Second Age, season 1 of the wildly expensive streaming series was a solid and enjoyable enough experience that attempted to reach the same heights as Peter Jackson's original trilogy. It may not have become the instant "Game of Thrones"-sized cultural juggernaut that Prime Video was likely hoping for -- it's worth noting that even the hit...

Sauron is on the rise in the first trailer for Season 2 of the Prime Video series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” which premieres on Aug. 29. Amazon unveiled the trailer and the premiere date in New York City on Tuesday as part of its upfront presentation to advertisers.

“Prepare yourselves.”
That’s what a sword weilding Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) declares to Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and her other warrior companions in the just released teaser trailer for Season 2 of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – see below:
Season 2 of the J.R.R. Tolkien adaptation is coming on August 29, and “prepare yourselves” just might be an understatement.
One word: Sauron. Another word: Unleashed.
Much grittier and darker than most of Season 1, the just released peek at Season 2 also gives a brief look at the Charlie Vicker’s portrayed Mordor master’s Dark Tower. As well, there’s some new rings and their creation in there too, and one Hell of an explosion that could rival Mount Doom’s big blow-up in Season 1. Or, as Khazad-dûm Prince Durin (Owain Arthur) puts it in said minute-long teaser: “an evil, ancient and powerful has returned” — as you can see above.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is returning later this year with even bigger battles in season 2, but before the new season of the Prime Video series takes us back to Middle-earth, you can head back to the fantasy world yourself, courtesy of Lego.
It's hard to believe that it's been over 20 years since Peter Jackson's unbelievable adaptation of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy hit theaters (which you can celebrate with the extended editions of "Lord of the Rings" returning to theaters in 4K this summer), but here we are, and the fantasy film series is still one of the greatest trilogies of all time. To celebrate, Lego is releasing a massive Lego set that will let fans build the imposing dark tower of Sauron, also known as Barad-Dûr.

When it was announced that Amazon was set to produce The Rings of Power, a prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, fans were ecstatic to revisit J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-Earth. But despite opening to a record 25 million viewership, the highest in the streaming platform’s history, the sentiment surrounding the new addition to the iconic IP was pretty mixed.
Despite winning over fans with its eye-popping visuals, with many deeming it a worthy addition to the iconic franchise, its naysayers accused the show of pushing a woke agenda. And with the trailer for Season 2 set to be unveiled soon, a similar discourse has popped up once again.

Prime Video has announced that we will get our first look at some footage from the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power tomorrow when the first teaser trailer is released online.
Production has been underway since late 2022 at Bray Studios, just outside London. Season 1 was shot in New Zealand, but the decision was made to change-up location because The UK is "considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub."
The first season concluded with the reveal that the seemingly benevolent Halbrand was actually Sauron all along. The Dark Lord offered Galadriel the chance to join him once his ruse was discovered, and when she refused, he fled back to the Southlands (soon to be known as Mordor).
It was also heavily implied that "The Stranger" was really Gandalf, but this is yet to be confirmed by actor Daniel Weyman or the showrunners.

Zack Snyder is one of the most prolific filmmakers of today’s age. Having created epics like 300, Army of the Dead, Justice League, and more, the director is known best for creating action-packed, grim tales of adventure that are often characterized by intricate details. Whether it is his independent features or the Snyderverse, Snyder’s movies are a true treat to audiences who love bold and gritty themes.

While Snyder’s imagination and ability to craft fictional worlds are quite impressive, the director’s Snyderverse shares unmistakable similarities with Peter Jackson’s The Lord of The Rings franchise. The two different worlds have several distinct connections that are quite baffling.

Despite Fallout taking place in the aftermath of a nuclear war, it’s truly not the end of the world for the Prime Video series, which has many miles to go.
Fans of video games are fanatics about how faithfully adapted into movies and series, and according to Fallout executive producer Geneva Robertson-Dworet, speaking recently during an interview with cast and creatives at Deadline Studio at Prime Experience, “there is so much we had to leave behind” in Season 1. “[There’s] potentially thousands of hours of gameplay; we have eight hours to tell our story.”

The duo’s newly announced collaboration almost certainly means the franchise is going to cover old ground – which makes you wonder, why bother?

“Fallout” debuted as the most-streamed title of the April 8-14 viewing window and hit the highest viewership ever achieved by an Amazon Prime Video title in a single week. The video game adaptation was watched for 2.9 billion minutes in its first five days of availability, which is more than one billion minutes above the previous record set by the best week of “Reacher.”
This also marks the 39th highest viewership achieved by a title on any service in a single week. Of the 38 slots above “Fallout” on that list, 22 are taken up by individual weeks of “Stranger Things,” “Ozark” and “Suits.”
Interestingly, Amazon doesn’t claim “Fallout” as its biggest ever debut. The company says that the series reached 65 million worldwide viewers in its first 16 days of availability, coming second to “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” though a 16-day statistic for Rings of Power” was not provided.

It looks like Warner Bros. Discovery is going back for second breakfast.
Variety reported that fast work is underway for a new “Lord of the Rings” film, with Warner Bros. hoping to get it into theaters within two years. The project will focus on the character of Gollum/Smeagol and comes from director Andy Serkis, the actor who played the character in the early films.
Script development for the film, tentatively titled “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum,” is underway, according to CEO David Zaslav, who spoke about the new project during the Wbd earning call. Moreover, the originators of the Oscar-winning trilogy (and highly profitable “Hobbit” prequel trilogy) director Peter Jackson and co-writers Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens “will be involved every step of the way.”
Amazon famously bought the rights to all things Middle Earth in late 2017 directly from the Tolkien estate for $250 million. This...

George Miller is about to return to the wasteland with "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," but it might surprise some people to know that his biggest box office hit to date remains the technological marvel that is "Happy Feet."
Though you wouldn't think of "Happy Feet" as being connected to "Mad Max: Fury Road," they have some things in common — particularly their stunning visuals and how they approach VFX. Despite what some fans would like to believe, "Fury Road" is full of CGI. As Miller himself told Vulture in 2022, "There was not one shot in that movie that wasn't CGI in one way or another." The film works because it blends digital and practical effects, using CGI to enhance scenes, delete wirework, and otherwise make what is already real feel larger-than-life. This is the approach that the best movies take -- the ones that understand CGI is a tool and not a shortcut.

Warner Bros. has confirmed that a new Lord of the Rings film, produced by Peter Jackson, is targeting a 2026 release. Titled The Hunt for Gollum, the film will be directed by and star Andy Serkis, who will reprise his character from the original trilogy.
During an earnings call on Thursday, Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav divulged that the film is “now in the early stages of script development” and will “explore storylines yet to be told.”
Jackson, who helmed the original Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, and his longtime writing partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens “will be involved every step of the way,” Zaslav added.
Based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy book series, the original Lord of the Rings trilogy was released in the early 2000s, grossing nearly 3 billion worldwide. The Hobbit trilogy followed in the early 2010s and proved just as successful at the box office.

Lord of the Rings has shaped many a child’s life almost a century apart. Be it J. R. R. Tolkien’s literary series in the 1930s or Peter Jackson’s trilogies in the 2000s, the franchise has brought the world of epic high fantasy tales involving Elves, hobbits, kings, and wizards just a little bit closer to our fingertips.

History stands as a testament that reboots, spin-offs, or adaptations fail the moment makers decide to give their own twist to the mythos. From The Witcher to Eragon, there have been several series and movies that ended up being ridiculed and sneered by fans and critics. And Amazon’s Rings of Power too can be found among such projects.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
Based on the famous J. R. R. Tolkien books, the series provided its own spin on the tale by being set thousands of years before the events in the books. Needless to say, the series was not as well received. And even Lord of the Rings star, the late Bernard Hill had some deeply insulting words to say about the series.

The Dark Knight trilogy is one of the finest superhero franchises out there, and while The Dark Knight Rises did close the book on Christian Bale’s Batman, screenwriter Jonathan Nolan would eagerly return for more.
Jonathan Nolan, who co-wrote both The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, was asked by Showsha if he’d like to return to the Batman franchise. “Wouldn’t that be a dream?” Nolan said. “That period was 10 years of my life [from] when I got the call to work on Batman Begins, and it was epic. Working with Christian [Bale], Heath [Ledger], Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and to honor an American icon. If I had the chance to go back and work on that again? Absolutely.“
Getting that bang back together would be a tall order, as Nolan admitted, “We’ve moved onto other things,” and “other people have picked up the mantel and moved on with those characters.

Peter Jackson once contemplated erasing his memory about The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Being an avid fan of J. R. R. Tolkien’s novels, the filmmaker crafted a cinematic world that captivated audiences globally and has since become one of the most influential franchises.

While his films have been a source of joy for fans worldwide, the filmmaker himself never had the opportunity to enjoy the trilogy like an ordinary viewer. And his desire for an unspoiled viewing experience for the film prompted Jackson to consider hypnosis to forget everything about Middle Earth.

Fallout was a successful live-action adaptation of a popular video game with the combined efforts of Bethesda Game Studios and Amazon Prime Video. It shattered records and even made short work of popular series like The Boys and Invincible but couldn’t top The Lord of the Rings.
The show was able to pull an impressive 65 million viewers in the first 16 days since the day Prime Video released all of the episodes. Compared to an equally well-budgeted show based on the popular work of author J.R.R Tolkien, it was considerably better and more well-received.
The Fallout Series Is Way Better Than the Lord of the Rings Spinoff The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power had a strong start but failed to capture the fans, unlike Fallout.
Despite having a strong start, the video game adaptation was the second most-watched title on the platform and fell behind The Rings of Power.

"Fallout" is the smash success Amazon Studios has been waiting for. The show, based on the popular video game series of the same name, has become one of the biggest hits to date on Prime Video. Amazon has revealed that the series is now the second-most-watched show in the history of the streaming service, trailing only the mega-budgeted "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
According to Variety, "Fallout" was streamed by 65 million viewers during its first 16 days of release. Amazon made the choice to release the entire first season all at once on April 10. That's closer to the traditional Netflix binge model, rather than the week-to-week episode model that Prime Video has employed in recent years. That may have attracted more viewership in the early going, and that makes the show one of Prime Video's biggest hits ever out of the gate. As such, it's not surprising that...
