Funny and entertaining.

Exit, Pursued by a Bear is a truly entertaining, fun and intriguing mystery. It's a clever story, which sees the duo employed by Sally Balthasar, an actress who means to get on, and doesn't care who she steps on in her ambition for success.

The scenes of Frank and Luella watching Sally's role in a trashy hospital soap were really funny, acting worthy of Eastenders. I think the episode was elevated by the appearance of Morgana Robinson, who played Sally Balthasar with real gusto, she was terrific as the self obsessed Diva.

As usual the regulars were terrific, nice production values, and understated acting. I enjoyed this very much. 8/10

Juliet and Romeo

Warning: Spoilers
Sally Balthasar ego flushed from her appearance in a TV soap, decides to spread her wings on the stage.

Not content with simply appearing in Romeo and Juliet as the eponymous heroine, she feels that her character's billing should represent her opinion of her own self worth.

In this vein she sets about rewriting Romeo and Juliet in own self image, in the process her version begins to appear not so much a play rather more a performance of agit-prop.

Understandably this behaviour doesn't exactly endear Sally Balthasar to either her fellow thespians in the cast, or production staff, and theatre intelligentsia.

Will Sally Balthasar's ego blind her to what could become, an inevitable consequence of her attitudes and actions?

Not entirely as she hires Shakespeare and Hathaway, to keep an investigative eye on all of the proceedings.

Ever the ham actor desperate to get any part however minuscule Sebastian Brudenell, persuades Luella and Frank to let him work undercover as a young thespian.

Juliet

Warning: Spoilers
I became a fan of Shakespeare and Hathaway when it debuted around six years ago, and the chemistry between Frank Hathaway and Luella Shakespeare was superb. Also, I think Amber Aga as DI Marlowe was an important part of the series, and it's a shame her character went missing I think from season three onwards, and so far no explanation has been given. Anyway, Morgana Robinson plays Sally Balthasar, who gets into deep trouble for attempting to write a reboot of Romeo and Juliet, and yes, you can see what was coming. I really like the scenery and the charm of this series that stands on its own init.

Pursued by a Bear

Morgana Robinson was a hoot in House of Fools and guest stars as a vain and ambitious actress, Sally Balthasar who receives death threats in a reworking of the play Juliet and Romeo.

The director of the stage play, Roman Randall worked with Sally in a trashy hospital drama where a character was poisoned in a similar manner to Sally.

Luella and Frank go through various episodes of the bad soap drama, they find out that a fellow actress was much better and she was written out of the show at the last minute and he career never recovered.

This is another easy going mystery, we discover that Luella has a photographic memory, Sebastian gets to use his RADA training as he goes undercover in the theatre production.
