  Lena Luthor : That's because your blood cells are oxygen-deprived. They're shrinking. In fact, they look like they're becoming dormant.

  Samantha Arias : We need to fix this. I have not fought this hard to lose now.

  Lena Luthor , Alex Danvers : We will.

  [a thought strikes her] 

  Alex Danvers : She's right.

  Lena Luthor : The sun lamps should heal you.

  Alex Danvers : We're gonna supercharge you.

  Samantha Arias : You're such a bad liar. But I am grateful for that.

• Lena Luthor : Okay, Sam, I need you to count to three, and then look at us.

  [Lena activates the scatterfield] 

  Samantha Arias : Yes, you're waving. Is that supposed to mean something?

  [Lena deactivates the field] 

  Samantha Arias : What? What's going on?

  Lena Luthor : It's a refractive scatterfield. It's basically an eye test.

  Alex Danvers : If your cells were expressing in a Kryptonian manner, then you wouldn't have been able to see us. I mean, your eyes would have hurt just trying to even look through.

• Ruby Arias : So the sunlamps aren't working?

  Samantha Arias : Okay, so what's next?

  Lena Luthor : Well, environmental factors can influence gene expression, turning it on and off. Maybe this Harun-El can rewrite the process. I could take this blood back to the lab and see if the Harun-El will rejuvenate your cells.

  Alex Danvers : [Lena leaves]  We're gonna figure this out. I promise, okay? Stay strong.

• Lena Luthor : [on the phone]  I am so sorry, Alex. You just keep monitoring Sam, and I'll keep you posted on my end. Okay. Bye.

  Eve Teschmacher : More bad news?

  Lena Luthor : Yeah. Sam's no better. And there are three people in National City with the same powers as Supergirl that just murdered somebody.

  Eve Teschmacher : Oh. That is not good. And my news is no better. I re-worked the Harun-El to try and jump-start Sam's blood cells like you asked, but they're not responding. They're getting weaker.

  Lena Luthor : Well, maybe I can adjust the ratio of the solution we used and re-inject Sam.

  [putting Sam's sample on a slide and putting it under the microscope] 

  Lena Luthor : This should still have the blood of Reign and Sam on it.

  [seeing the results on the monitor] 

  Lena Luthor : I think I know what's wrong with Sam.

• Mon-El : Can you imagine if we had Reign to deal with?

  Lena Luthor : Unfortunately, I think we do.

  Alex Danvers : Sam, you should be in bed.

  Samantha Arias : I need to be here. This involves me.

• Lena Luthor : I know why Sam's sick.

  [showing them her tablet] 

  Lena Luthor : Okay, these are Sam's blood cells, and these are Reign's. Sam's blood cells are getting weaker, while Reign's are getting stronger. They share a symbiotic, non-local entanglement. Reign and Sam are still connected. Reign's back and she's getting stronger by the minute.

  Supergirl : But I destroyed the Worldkillers' blood.

  Winn Schott : Demos gave his life to stop them.

  Lena Luthor : Well, I don't know how, but they have it.

• Mon-El : Well, if... if Reign is getting stronger, then couldn't the opposite be true? If-if Sam gets stronger, then Reign would get weaker.

  Lena Luthor : Yeah, my thoughts exactly.

  Alex Danvers : But how? Nothing we've tried has worked.

• Alura Zor-El : Years ago, when I sentenced Jindah Kol Rozz to prison, she spouted about vengeance. One fountain gave infinite strength. The other brought weakness. She spoke of a woman born of the fountain with the power of destruction.

  Supergirl : Reign was created in the Dark Valley, and she doesn't get her powers from the yellow sun. Maybe she got them from this fountain.

  Samantha Arias : Then it's settled. I'm going back to the Dark Valley.

  Alex Danvers : Sam, you're too weak.

  Mon-El : We don't have Brainy to get you there.

  Samantha Arias : Lena was able to do it.

  Lena Luthor : That was using electric shock, and in your current condition, Alex is right. I don't know if you'd survive.

  Samantha Arias : Well, that's a risk I'm willing to take if it means ending Reign and saving the world. And I have to do it for my daughter. I promise you, I am not dying today.
