Starts Slowly and Ends Well
GunnersMate20 April 2018
The Great White Moose begins slowly (and unfortunately un-engagingly) with another wave of Julia's moody and grumpy pregnancy. It's almost enough to press the fast-forward button... The episode continues with a political focus, which is also unfortunate, because the political and international "intrigue" episodes are traditionally not the strongest offering from Murdoch Mysteries. The episode does pick up part way through when some station detective work kicks in (hooray for Crabtree!) and makes for a tidy and well-played second half. Terrence Myers is back and is true to form with his crafted combination of annoying and entertaining, and our guest-celebrity-president is recognizable and interesting. Overall, an imperfect but highly watchable episode.

Perhaps enough of the "spy" episodes?
apbryant7 February 2021
When I first started watching Murdoch Mysteries I found the espionage related episodes quite intriguing. It was fun to see just how those things would have happened at the turn of the 20th century. Unfortunately now it seems as though they are creating contrived spy related plots just for the sake of bringing back popular characters. It is very similar to what they did with the most recent Pendrick episode "F.L.A.S.H." Not to besmirch any performances, but the writing in these unnecessary episodes is not strong enough for anyone to shine. Even Julia's pregnancy is becoming tiresome. It feels like the show is deliberately treading water leading up to the season finale. Let's hope things start to pick up from here to the finish.
