Warning: Spoilers
I am a big Jenna Coleman and found her really solid in a role much different than what she has been doing on Victoria.

The time jumps are a bit much. I think playing with the timeline on a show like this can be useful, but hopefully it is dialed down a bit.

The anticipation to the big scene where they lose the baby was perfect, even if the pilot did drag at times.

Good start overall. I am intrigued for sure.

Was I drinking lighter fuel, or was this confusing?

I will start by saying that I did enjoy it, it's well made, the story is intriguing, and though I'm not Jenna Coleman's greatest fan, I think she's rather good here. The time jumping aspect is making it very confusing to watch, you can't be texting or flicking through the news, you have to concentrate absolutely, or you'll be in Scotland, or in a Court Room, when you should be in Melbourne.

By the title, and the trailers, I had expected the story to play out in a particular way, it does eventually, but they certainly take their time to get there. I liked how it shows just how difficult motherhood can be, the plane sequence for example, they don't often show you that side of it on TV, but it happens. People can tolerate other people's children crying up to a point, then they suddenly have all the answers to make it stop....not.

I digress, I'm intrigued, I'm confused, but enjoying it. 7/10

terrible addaption

A good novel, Jenna Coleman (doctor Who, Victoria) Asher Keddy (offspring) and Stella Gonet.(the house of Elliot), what good go wrong? When it's not the novel nor the leads, than it must be the scriptwriter, What a scramble of a first episode. Skipping through time. If you hadn't read the novel it is so confusing. And what is it with the kidnapping? Just viewed this first episode, but I missed one key occurence. I fear that this scriptwriter wants this to be a mystery, what happened to the baby, who took him and why. I await episode two for further judgement.

Episode 1.1

This first episode was a slow burner as it took its time to set up its stall.

Jenna Coleman plays Joanna, a new mother who seems to be suffering from postnatal depression. She has to endure an horrid journey to Australia where the baby cries almost non stop.

Joanna travels to Australia as her partner Alistair (Ewen Leslie) is in a custody battle with ex wife over his teenage daughter.

The drama shifts backwards and forwards in time, rather apt given Jenna Coleman's previous Doctor Who connections! We sense that something bad has happened to the baby and Joanna gets the blame.

There is good performance from Coleman, but it really was too slow to get going. I felt listless until it settled down in the second half.

Pointlessly Jumps around in time
Upsetting premis, not that it's clear what's going on. Took til the end of 1st episode to even say what the issue was. I know they want to build suspense but this was just painful. As for the jumping about in time, now I'm pretty switched on but it was not easy to follow. Not for me, won't be watching the rest of it. Disappointed
