Do you thrive on taking copious notes, observing minute details, and working closely on set with a director? Yes? Then you might want to consider a career as a script supervisor—the person who makes sure that the visual details in a scene are consistent from shot-to-shot and even scene-to-scene.
And you might want to consider these insights from expert script supervisor, Sarah Horton, whose credits over a 12-year career include Mutt & Stuff, Aftermath, Behaving Badly, and Liza On Demand. Continuity and consistency are crucial for the development of your project. Your movie simply has to make sense. Script supervising—and filmmaking in general—is all about helping to answer these questions: “How are you getting into a scene?” and “How are you getting out of a scene?” And, most importantly: “How are your scenes blending together to make a beautiful piece of art?”

An all-new documentary series following Demi Lovato’s ups and downs over the last three years is coming exclusively to YouTube, as part of the video giant doubling down on its music, celebrity and creator-focused originals strategy.
In addition to the new four-part Lovato docuseries, YouTube has renewed four original projects featuring big-name digital talent: “Instant Influencer with James Charles,” “The Creator Games Presented by MrBeast,” a sequel to interactive series “A Heist With Markiplier,” and “Retro Tech” hosted by Marques Brownlee.
“We’re continuing to invest [in originals] – and we’ve investing more,” Robert Kyncl, YouTube’s chief business officer, said in an interview. He called out YouTube’s recent announcement to establish a multiyear $100 million fund dedicated to Black creators and artists.

YouTube has taken the axe to Impulse, one of its earliest and last-remaining premium scripted series.
The show, which was produced by Universal Cable Productions and executive produced by Doug Liman (the director of Bourne Identity), ran for two seasons on YouTube Premium. Variety reports that Impulse -- about a 16-year-old girl from a small town grappling with sexual assault trauma, who discovers she has the ability to teleport -- was YouTube’s last-remaining traditional drama series, with other remaining scripted series including Cobra Kai and Liza On Demand.
YouTube has been pivoting away from premium scripted content in favor of shows that hinge around three key content categories: native creators, music, and education. It also overhauled its original programming strategy in Nov. 2018, putting all original programming in front of the subscription paywall. YouTube has canceled its sci-fi series “Impulse,” leaving “Cobra Kai” and “Liza on Demand” as the only remaining scripted YouTube Originals.
“‘Impulse’ will not be going forward at YouTube,” showrunner Lauren LeFranc tweeted Monday. “We tried to find a new home, but sadly it wasn’t meant to be.”
A rep for YouTube confirmed the cancellation Tuesday.

YouTube has canceled “Impulse,” arguably its final out-and-out drama, after two seasons.
The cancelation leaves only a couple remaining scripted series at the web subscription service, namely “Cobra Kai” and “Liza on Demand,” and is the latest example of YouTube’s shifting content strategy.
The shift became clear in April of last year, when the quadruple cancelation of “Champaign Ill,” “Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television,” “Sideswiped,” and “Do You Want to See a Dead Body” signaled that rather than taking on streamers like Netflix and Amazon with a traditional slate of scripted projects, YouTube was changing its focus to genres such as unscripted, educational and music artist-focused docu-follows.

“Justin Bieber: Seasons” has broken a record for YouTube: The docuseries’ first episode scored as the most-viewed premiere in its first week of all the platform’s originals to date.
Episode 1 of “Seasons” had 32.65 million views in the first week after its Jan. 27 debut, according to YouTube. That beat out YouTube’s original comedy “Liza On Demand” Season 2 debut (25.4 million) and the first episode of “Cobra Kai” Season 2 (21 million) over the same time periods.
YouTube paid upwards of $20 million for the 10-part Bieber docuseries, making it YouTube’s most expensive content acquisition to date, Variety reported. “Seasons” promises fans a revealing look at the making of the “Changes,” the pop star’s first new album in over four years.
Bieber, who famously got “discovered” on YouTube, is the most-followed music artist on the platform — and just surpassed 50 million subscribers for his channel. “Started as #kidrauhl and now this.

Illusionist David Blaine will do his next live TV stunt on YouTube, so not really on TV.
The internet-video company announced Saturday during the Television Critics Association press tour that Blaine has partnered with YouTube originals for what the company is calling “an unprecedented live event” this fall. But this time, the twist is that Blaine, known for darker and more mysterious stunts, will do something “lighter and brighter” for YouTube.
While that sounds nice, YouTube promises it will still be “death-defying.” Blaine was on hand Saturday in Pasadena to tease this event, which includes some kind of aerial component.
Blaine’s last TV special, “Beyond Magic,” aired in 2016 on ABC.

Quibi has given a green light to Floored, a comedic dance competition series with a moving dance floor, hosted and executive produced by Liza On Demand star Liza Koshy.
In each episode of Floored, produced by Mission Control Media, two teams of skilled dancers take on an insane dance floor with a life of its own. Dancers try their best to perform a pre-rehearsed routine on a floor that actually lifts, tilts, drops, shakes and spins in time to the music. Additionally, the dancers will have to dodge obstacles that are unexpectedly thrown their way.

YouTube star and comedian Liza Koshy will preside over a dance-competition reality series coming to Quibi — a kind of mashup of “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Wipeout.”

YouTube star and beauty influencer James Charles is launching a “Project Runway”-style reality competition show — in which he’ll pick one up-and-coming makeup artist as the winner of a $50,000 cash prize.
The show, which has the working title “James Charles Instant Influencer,” is slated to debut in the spring of 2020 on Charles’ YouTube channel with episodes to be released weekly. Charles will host, direct and executive produce the series.
YouTube is funding the four-part series as part of its revamped originals strategy, focusing less on scripted fare and more on personality-driven, music and learning content, with all original programming being made available on the free, ad-supported service.
“Ever since I entered the beauty space three years ago, I’ve dreamed of producing my own beauty competition show,” Charles told Variety. “It’s a dream come true… It’s such an amazing opportunity for [YouTube] to take it above and beyond what we expected.

I have learned that the online video platform is not proceeding with new seasons of its drama series Step Up: High Water and comedy Wayne, and is not going forward with drama pilot Dark Cargo and comedy pilot It’s a Man’s World.
The development comes on the heels of YouTube in March canceling the sci-fi drama series Origin and the comedy Overthinking with Kat & June, and its new drama series On Becoming a God In Central Florida starring Kirsten Dunst being put in turnaround and landing at Showtime in June. In addition to participating in a panel presentation on July 13, Koshy and her co-stars Kimiko Glenn and Travis Coles will preview footage from the show and spill behind-the-scenes gossip.
The pilot episode of Liza On Demand has been seen by 22 million viewers. The half-hour series follows the chaotic misadventures of Koshy's character and her two roommates, as she takes on various tasks and odd jobs in the gig economy. The series is produced by Above Average, Koshy, Deborah Kaplan (Can’t Hardly Wait), and Harry Elfont (Josie & The Pussycats). Koshy’s manager, Courtney Carter, will serve as an Ep on the project.

YouTube has canceled four shows, continuing with its going-forward strategy to reevaluate its original scripted programming strategy as it focuses on unscripted shows and specials.
Getting the ax were Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television, Champaign Ill, Sideswiped and Do You Want to See a Dead Body.
“Our goal is to create amazing programming focused on music, education, YouTube creators and some lighthouse shows,” said Susanne Daniels, Global Head of Original Content for YouTube. “We just had our most successful year to date and will soon announce a slate of new and returning hits.”
Several scripted hits continue on YouTube, most notably, Cobra Kai (season 2 premieres April 24), Step Up, Liza on Demand, and Impulse (currently in production).
YouTube quietly stopped taking new scripted pitches over the last few months. The company remains committed to its current series and projects already in the pipeline,...

YouTube has canceled “Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television” after two seasons, along with three of the streaming service’s other series, “Champaign Ill,” “Sideswiped,” and “Do You Want to See a Dead Body?”
The four shows were canceled because the tech giant is shifting its focus from scripted programming to unscripted, educational and music artist-focused “docu-follows,” as it begins developing projects for a new ad-supported, free tier in addition to its subscription option, YouTube Premium (which is ad-free and includes YouTube Music), an individual with knowledge of the decision tells TheWrap .
The company is preparing to announce the ad-supported option at its Brandcast event on May 2 and clearing its deck of several shows originally developed for YouTube Premium, before unveiling a new slate of originals designed for both platforms, the source says.

YouTube is clearing its deck, as the service gets ready to unveil its new original programming plans. As part of the spring cleaning of sorts, YouTube series “Champaign Ill,” “Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television,” “Sideswiped,” and “Do You Want to See a Dead Body” won’t be back.
Those shows join previously confirmed cancelled series “Overthinking with Kat & June,” “Youth & Consequences,” and “Origin.”
YouTube isn’t completely wiping down the mat, however. Breakout hit “Cobra Kai” is back for Season 2 on April 24, and “Step Up: High Water,” currently in its second season, continues to perform well for the service. Also, comedy “Liza on Demand,” starring Liza Koshy, and sci-fi drama “Impulse” are both in production for their sophomore releases.
Meanwhile, YouTube hasn’t yet revealed the fates of comedy “Wayne,” which premiered in January, and anthology series “Weird City,” which launched in February.

Liza Koshy may have made a triumphant return to YouTube in her own Dollar Store-themed music video, but now the 23-year-old is co-starring in somebody else’s.
Koshy is teaming up with the New Zealand band Drax Project on the clip for their latest single "Woke Up Late," which features guest vocals from Hailee Steinfeld. The four-piece Drax Project band formed in 2014 and have hit the road as openers for Ed Sheeran and Camila Cabello. Koshy shared a teaser for the music video on Instagram ahead of its premiere this morning via YouTube Premieres -- a tool that enables creators to schedule uploads ahead of time so that fans can experience new video releases as a community.
In addition to cameo, in which Koshy appears to play the love interest of Drax Project lead singer Shaan Singh, she also shared on Instagram her cover for the March issue of...

Liza Koshy is back in the dollar store.
Well, more importantly, she’s back on YouTube after a yearlong break from releasing self-made content on her main channel. But fans of Koshy’s content will be glad to know the video marking her return is an epic musical ending to Koshy’s saga of dollar store videos.
Liza’s Last Dollar Store is a full-fledged glitz-and-glamour music video. It’s also apparently the cap to a much-viewed series Koshy started way back in 2015 with Get Money!! Dollar Store With Liza. That first video was meant to be a lo-fi “what’s up with all those dollar store hauls YouTubers are doing” parody, stamped with Koshy’s trademark humor. But the video was so well received that it ended up spawning multiple sequels, including the most-viewed video on Koshy’s channel.
