Episode 9 made me anxious, wondering how the season could be finished in just one more episode. When I saw that this last episode was only a half hour long, I was confused, checked my internet connection, then laughed.
The series devoured itself, coming "full circle" as a beautiful illustration of the Ouroboros. The exploration and decisions of Episodes 7 & 8 flow right into the Freudian megalomania of Episode 9, and Episode 10 is just pure chemical digestion. Diana's diatribe may come to pass, but if there were any "beings" they would laugh at the thought of the next era being anything new.
The series starts with two men abusing power while casting away innocence, and ends with two women manifesting their own power to "restore" innocence. Everthing in between has just been an exploration of the violence that's constant in the circle. But it cast the exploration in an artistic light that seemed to be ignored by every single-minded character in the show. The last episode may have seemed to fall flat, but that's no surprise: the "protagonists" had no real design to begin with.
