Hands of Steel: An Interview with Sergio Martino (2017)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
This seventeen-minute interview with director Sergio Martino has him discussing his 1986 action picture HANDS OF STEEL. He talks a great deal about the production including the accident that happened on the set, which killed a helicopter pilot as well as actor Claudio Cassinelli. The death of his friend gets a lot of the running time devoted to it as you would expect and Martino tries to explain what happened and why. He also bears responsibility for what happened, which isn't something you always see directors do. He also shares a few stories about Daniel Greene and he manages to talk about Italian cinema at the time. If you're a fan of Martino then you'll certainly enjoy what's here. The interview is a nice one and certainly worth watching. Martino switches from English to Italian throughout but it's a lot better when he does the Italian.
