"Invisible" is the sophomore directorial work of veteran animator and supervising animator Akihiko Yamashita, the first being the Ghibli Museum-exclusive short film A Sumo Wrestler's Tail (2010), premiered eight years prior, and his debut as a writer.
"Kanini & Kanino" is both the first work with a screenplay written by Hiromasa Yonebayashi alone and the first directed by him with an original screenplay.
"Life Ain't Gonna Lose" is Yoshiyuki Momose's first time directing an original creation of his own since Ghiblies: Episode 2 (2002), premiered 16 years ago.
The film was originally intended to have four segments rather than three, with the untitled fourth one being directed by Ghibli director Isao Takahata. However, Takahata died on April 5, 2018, so the film was limited to three segments.
During the short film of "Kanini and Kanino", apart from names of characters or expressions, nothing else is said.
