So What Did We Learn Tonight?
sevenlilxenos18 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The title Omega suggests the end of someone or something. Lets hope its the end of Henry's hormonal induced stupidity as he is way too hard up for female companionship. But for a perfectly timed mental trigger he would prolly have a hole the size of a hammer in his head

Flashback stories can be extremely interesting (ie- what defined Morgan as who he is today) or ambiguous as when told from the perspective of a young child. Learning what has shaped a new character to behave in the manner which they do is critical especially given the revolving door of people lately.

As despicable as the subject of child abuse is, it may serve to hasten bonds between those who have shared experiences.

Long handled spears are good weapons for killing for the first or second time.

Worms not drenched in tequila are gross to eat regardless of their protein content.

Apparently cutting your hair short or bald puts some women in beast mode.

Little Michone needs to be smarter and far less impulsive no matter how well intended she may be or she wont be around long.

Taking on dark subjects good, filming those flashbacks too dark bad.

Tara seemed to be just way too forgiving and polite with Yumika who had blatantly disobeyed her order, what could this be foreshadowing? Oh, never mind.

The very best adversaries or leaders thus far, Governor, Negan and Rick all had one thing in common, I guess Alpha was inevitable.

For those of you keeping count, that makes 2 eps in a row someone wanted back in their jail cell.

Why was Tom Payne's name still in the opening credits? Are they waiting at least 3 days, in show, to make sure his character doesn't resurrect?

A good ending can make a 7 star filler episode into an 8.

Great Sequel
claudio_carvalho20 February 2019
In Hilltop, Henry has a long conversation with the Whisperer Lydia about her life, unaware that Daryl, Enid and other leaders of Hilltop are listening to. They learn that Lydia-s mother is a cruel woman and leader of the Whisperers. Meanwhile, the newcomers Yumiko, Magna, Connie and Kelly join Tara in the unsuccessful search party for Alden and Luke. During the night, they disobey Tara and sneak out from Hilltop to search Luke and Aiden. When they return to Hilltop, they are followed by Alpha and her group.

"Omega" is a great sequel of "Adaptation" introducing Alpha, the leader of the dangerous Whisperers. The stupid Henry again jeopardizes his friends exposing not only Hilltop, but also The Kingdom to a dangerous stranger that is a member of a group that killed Jesus. The group of newcomers also does not follow Tara´s direct order and also jeopardize Hilltop. Maggie needs to return to Hilltop and to the show to control these irresponsible people. My vote is eight.

Storytelling is back!
jeff-4727818 February 2019
TWD is back to storytelling again. It's what makes a good show great again, backstories in particular. It's where they went wrong with Negan, we never saw anythig about his past. Unlike the Governor's tremendous backstory, it's the reason we care for a character. Now we just need a good twist here and there like they used to be so very good at.

Lydia and Daryls scenes were fantastic
jacklivi-1287018 February 2019
Really well acted tonight between Daryl and Lydia an interesting relationship with Daryl seeing himself in Lydia. The flash backs were used really effectively dropping through-out the episode making the whisperes feel more humanised. Really liking the slow and intense build up to the whisperes!

Awesome
stephen-6159418 February 2019
An amazing episode, they really focused a lot on domestic abuse with lydia suffering from it, Daryl of course and also the mention of carol with ed. I did like how they went from flash back to present day and back and forth. Then that ending was so cool just seeing the whisperers walking up to the gates of hilltop. What made is so cool is even though you know they are people seeing those "walkers" walking up to the gate with purpose and not mindlessly wandering around was so eerie. Damn this season is so good and hell Beta has not even arrived yet!

This goes to Bababooe, a reviewer who gives 1 star just because
maxh-68-85325617 February 2019
Bababooe, what are you even doing here? You make it very clear that you give this show not one chance at all. Your reviews say that you hate this show for seasons already. Why are you still here then? Season 9 has been a very good season so far and every episode deserves at least 8/10. But people like you keep voting 1/10 for no reason, just because. When you look at the votes you can see that at least 300 people give 1 star and that can't be more obvious. Imdb is no longer a representative platform for me, because of you fakers and haters.

Over and out.

I am Alpha

Warning: Spoilers
Episode was excellent in terms of how they handled the flashbacks and developed characters through similar pain,

domestic abuse plays a main part in this and digs into why lydia acts the way she is so for the character stuff it was really well done!

although it did come off as a filler episode but even so filler episodes are entertaining if done right!

overall 9/10

Not Bad
dmenzie24 February 2019
Decent episode folks need to forget the characters that have recently left. The show has reset and is less cartoonish than season 7-8...I am enjoying it and the new storyline is watchable. I will stay tuned people giving 5 stars and below simple solution stop watching.

Omega

Warning: Spoilers
This felt like a different kind of episode, almost Lost-like with all of the flashbacks.

The quality was not what we needed and the "Alpha" character isn't working for me, but this is just what the doctor ordered. We need something fresh and we go it.

Dead but not walking.
johnofardeal20 February 2019
I remember the days when I couldn't wait to watch another episode. Now... I'm tired of waiting for things to change. The mid-season finale gave me some hope and now, it's gone.

Magna's group... I don't even recall their names. They're too bland and make stupid choices. Just like Henry. Just like every other filler character that brings nothing to the table.

An absolutely wonderful episode!
ariani8118 February 2019
I can't get enough of Alpha, Lydia, the Whisperers and how they're all being thrown together with our survivors. This season has been amazing and all I want is more, more, more. The Walking Dead has really stepped up and delivered a much stronger story for season 9. If you gave up on it, it's time to come back. If you've been faithfully watching all this time, you've been given the best reward.

A bit confusing but pretty interesting episode
Chocoalatv18 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Being a fan of Samantha Morton, I was so glad to finally see her as Alpha!

The flashback scenes were a bit confusing though, since all the men look alike and also because Lydia's memories are messed up.

Also the outing of the new group (Yumiko and others) did not make much sense - Yumiko insisted on going out after dark to look for Luke and then she quickly decided to give up and go back??? What was that all about???

But I'm giving it a nine anyway, because of Alpha and Lydia :)

How a filler episode should be, a great episode with fantastic acting
Holt34418 February 2019
This episode was one of the best filler episodes thanks to the wonderful writing and acting, making the jail scenes work perfectly as Norman Reedus and Cassady McClincy had chemistry and just seeing Cassady portray Lydia in such a believable and true form as the character is truly broken, won't spoil anything more than she does an incredible performance. Letting the camera and story focus more with Magna's group is nice to see as more screen time means more development and that's a good thing for new viewers that haven't read the graphic novels. The focus on telling Lydia and Alpha's backstory was a good idea, I can't wait to see what Angela Kang and the film crew bring next to the remaining 6 episodes.

Samantha Morton was the highlight, seeing her act was interesting, strong acting. She doesn't really have the same body type as Alpha in the graphic novel but it looks natural and with her as woman makes Alpha even more terrifying. I'm glad she got the role, only good things can come from her as Alpha.

Great Episode
michaelscheindlinger129 March 2019
Trust me, I am TWD's harshest critic. I wasn't even going to watch the second half of Season 9, but it was on my DVR. I really enjoyed the episode. The flashbacks told a very important story. They were a little confusing, but when I finally saw what was going on, I was blown away. These other people giving this episode 1, 2, and 3 stars are idiots. Watch it twice if you have to. Just make sure you get it all in because I have a feeling that this was a an important episode to watch and understand.

All Filler
skaterryan1218 February 2019
Walking Dead struggles hard with filler episodes and especially filler ones without Rick. Given the fact that he's gone now certainly doesn't help. I'm a huge fan of the show. The show has been awful the past 2 seasons but this season has really stepped it up. This year has been perfect...until tonight's episode. I was not a fan of it at all. Walking Dead has always struggled hard with backstory and especially flashback sequences. To be honest, the episode was awful. The whole Henry was just absurd and worse than the young Carl storylines. It's one thing to tells lies through your story, but to actually show them on screen and then fool us all that the backstory was a lie? That's a huge cop out. I understand we're seeing her vision of it all being a lie, but remember, we can't physicaly see what she did so if you're going to feed us lies then just have her speak about it and then show the actual event later on. The only good thing about this episode was Alpha approaching Hill Top. That was something out of a horror movie. Other than that, this episode was the Walking Dead not doing at all and once again trying to take a crack at backstory while failing. Obviously the Whisperers are going to be great, but this episode felt pointless and something that could have been done as a side story in a bigger episode.

Flashback fun
spyder-2046020 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The flashback scenes were the definite highlight of this. And that really helps establish the character of Lydia as she resolves the conflicts in her head. Daryl was good, and the Alpha in the flashbacks was really impressive. This seemed to lose a lot at the final moments though, where she and her group did not seem especially menacing, just a crazy woman with weird makeup and a thick southern accent.

Henry is still annoying and not that bright. It would be nice if Carl was there instead. The scenes with the newbies and Tara were pretty forgettable too. I assume the newbies are to make the cast younger, but they've added very little so far.

At least with Lydia they're taking the time to develop a good character. There seems to be a shortage of these now.

Wow, this episode did surprise me a lot. The character of Lydia is doing it in a great way, I loved the introduction of Alpha, it was just great, something very different from what we are accustomed to see. Daryl and Henry were also very good..

"Omega" delves into the backstory of Lydia, revealing the dark and twisted world she grew up in as the daughter of Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers
fernandoschiavi27 March 2024
Lydia finally opens up about her past where she reveals that her mother and father were with a group for over a month and the group was soon overwhelmed and her father was killed in the attempt to fight them. Daryl, however, sees the cracks in her story and finds bruises on her arm which were obviously caused by abuse. After talking to Henry some more, she remembers that her mother killed her good-natured father and forced her to remember things differently. She reveals her mother leads the group which is bigger than they thought. The next day, Alpha shows up at Hilltop to demand Lydia's release.

"Omega" delves into the backstory of Lydia, revealing the dark and twisted world she grew up in as the daughter of Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers. The episode explores themes of trauma and abuse, as Lydia recounts her experiences living among the Whisperers and the lengths she went to survive. One of the most chilling scenes is when Lydia describes how her mother forced her to wear the skin of the dead, highlighting the brutal and inhumane nature of the Whisperers. "Omega" adds depth to the character of Lydia and provides insight into the inner workings of the Whisperers, setting the stage for future conflicts.

The episode also examines the theme of empathy, as Henry attempts to connect with Lydia and understand her perspective. This theme is exemplified in Henry's decision to trust Lydia and offer her compassion, despite her past actions. This theme of empathy underscores the series' exploration of humanity and the capacity for understanding even in the most dire of circumstances.

fernandoalfonzoo18 February 2019
Wow This is what TWD really is The Daryl/Lydia scenes are great The writers are doing a good job I thought that Magna was going to take a lead role. At least, more than Yumiko That scape night was something stupid. How did Alpha know that they have her daughter? Intense.
