The MonsterVerse has brought some great projects for fans, delving into the story of iconic monsters such as Godzilla and King Kong. The franchise officially began after the successful run of the 2014 Godzilla movie, leading to a shared franchise.

Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan is considered a gem in the anime and manga world. The series is considered to be one of the best works that has ever hit the screens of anime fans. The anime series ended in November last year, but the Attack on Titan manga was already finished by 2021.
Attack on Titan
Attack on Titan revolves around the story of Eren Jaeger, a young boy whose world changes when Titans attack and eat his mother. He then vows to remove every titan from the face of the Earth. The story follows the theme of Post-apocalyptic dark fantasy action which amassed a huge fan following.
The first three seasons of Attack on Titan anime were animated by Wit Studio. However, for the last season, the series shifted its animation studio and Mappa took over the responsibility of doing justice to the finale of the series. Recently,...

The MonsterVerse franchise is an underrated contender in the cinematic universe wars, with a clear watching order that avoids confusion or an overwhelming number of entries. Part of the success of the franchise is that the continuity and canon are not overly complicated — well, it is a franchise about giant monsters punching each other in the face, after all.
After doing what all big cinematic universes do and expanding to TV — albeit with a really good show in this case, the MonsterVerse is back on the big screen with "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire." The movie is set to not only bring the King of the Monsters and the Eighth Wonder of the World together once again but also bring a bit of a buddy-cop vibe to the MonsterVerse.

Let them fight? No. Let Them Be Friends!
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire had me feeling like a little Donato again; sitting on the couch, cradling a bowl of sugary cereal, with my favorite Saturday morning cartoons on TV (like Godzilla: The Series). Will the screenplay win an Academy Award? Hell no. Does director Adam Wingard have an absolute blast staging supersized Titan mayhem? Big time.
Godzilla: Minus One satisfied our cravings for societally introspective and richly commentative kaiju narratives that produce more than citywide destruction. Godzilla x Kong is almost exclusively about everything Toho’s Oscar-winning Godzilla flick is not. The only thing missing from this royally massive rumbler is famed ring announcer Michael Buffer’s “Let’s get ready to rumble!” catchphrase and a ring bell’s ding each time mayhem erupts. That’s the energy Wingard brings — the definition of Friday night popcorn entertainment.

Anime grows more popular with each passing year, yet an endless debate in the community still argues the merits of “subs vs. dubs.” Among some, dubbed anime continues to be viewed as a concession or a way to lure mainstream international audiences into the Japanese medium. It’s always a good idea to experience something in its original language, but dubbing has also proven itself to be its own artform that has the power to complement and improve upon the original series.
Certain anime dubs, such as Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and My Hero Academia, have won over fans and are viewed as equals to their original subtitled versions. However, the anime dubbing industry has made tremendous strides over the past decade and Attack on Titan has become the crowning achievement of what’s possible when inspired dubbing meets groundbreaking storytelling. Gareth Edwards’ visionary masterpiece, Godzilla, reinvented the saga of the iconic monster for a Western audience and acted as the foundation of Legendary Studios’ Monsterverse, a tribute to Toho’s classic Daikaiju epics. At the center of the franchise’s Titan-human correlation, the organization ‘Monarch’ was introduced, which initially served the purpose of introducing, researching, and explaining the Titan-related affairs to characters in-universe and, in the process, to the audience as well. However, soon enough, the narrative choice throughout the following stories made Monarch kind of redundant, with its usefulness being limited to only serving as an exposition device. This aspect gradually became so ludicrous that the characters in the movies acknowledged the fact through meta-jokes.
The recently ended Monsterverse series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters changed the equation by tracing back to the origin of the organization, linking it with a post-World War II geopolitical scenario, and doubling down on...

Although almost every Kaiju movie fan would prefer the tedious human drama to be as lessened as possible so as to not meddle with the monster spectacles, it is an undeniable fact that a well-crafted human institution makes Kaiju stories more interesting. Aside from the fact that Godzilla movies are inherently symbolic of nature’s retribution against humanity for their folly, human actions give viewers a third-person perspective into the world of monsters. Legendary’s Monsterverse adhered to this perspective by introducing Monarch as a secretive Titan research organization, positing it as a mediator between humans and Titans, aiming to pave the way for co-existence.
On the exact opposite side of the spectrum exists Apex Cybernetics, a seemingly rival conglomerate that was introduced in Godzilla vs. Kong and whose origins can be traced back to the recently concluded Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Motivated by a different goal to that of Monarch,...

We have always talked about how well Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has broadened the scope of modern monster epics by assimilating interesting human storylines with creature spectacle, but even we didn’t expect the engrossing emotional output the resultant treatment will provide as the season finale of the series managed to present. There were a number of well-connected story arcs in the series, the major one being the three-generation-spanning, Titan tracking tale, with both the Randa family and Lee Shaw at the center of the entirety. Aside from the core storyline, the emergence of Titans during the past and present timeline showcased differing coping mechanisms undertaken by humanity, ranging between willingness to co-exist to destructive reactions stemming from egocentric ideologies. Both of these narrative strands are tied up in the final episode of the first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, titled ‘Beyond Logic’, in a spectacular fashion, leaving enough...

Perhaps the most intensely discussed horror reboot of the 21st century is David Gordon Green's "Halloween." With a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and a 72% audience score, it seems like most of the intended crowd for the slasher legacyquel walked away satisfied, so Universal Pictures quickly put two more sequels on its calendar. Unfortunately, "Halloween Kills" was a drastic step down, earning only a 39% critics score. Sure, the audience score only dropped a bit to 66%, but when you're dedicated to the franchise, you're bound to be fairly pleased with whatever you get. "Halloween Ends" didn't fare much better, with just a 40% from critics, and a steeper drop to 57% from fans, officially taking it into rotten territory on both counts.
It's that last movie that has sparked some debate among longtime "Halloween" fans, with some appreciating the bold new direction that Green takes the franchise by making new character Corey Cunningham...

A video by AiTelly describing the Titan submersible implosion has become a sensation on Youtube, hitting five million views in only 11 days.
The six-minute video uses animations to show how the implosion that killed five men, Hamish Harding, Shahzada Dawood, his son Suleman Dawood, Paul-Henry Nargeolet and Stockton Rush, would have occurred, including the different factors leading up to the incident.
One of the issues with the submersible was the material used to create it. Instead of utilizing steel, aluminum and titanium, which has successfully been used in other submarines, Ocean Gate used “an experimental design.” Carbon fibers were applied, which can be advantageous as it is a light material, but it has not been studied for deep sea use. The main concern with it is that “it can crack and break suddenly,” which is probably why it is not frequently experimented with.

For a certain class of cinephile, the news that Ben Wheatley (Ben Wheatley! “Kill List” and “Free Fire” and “A Field in England” Ben Wheatley!) was directing the sequel to Jon Turteltaub’s 2018 hit “The Meg” could only be met with joy and confusion. If nothing else, it suggested a big-budget film about Jason Statham fighting massive prehistoric sharks that would actually be fucked up, creepy and scary and weird and spine-tingling. Alas, “Meg 2: The Trench” is none of those things, and only occasionally (perhaps even accidentally) fun, yet another seemingly unassailable combination of story and filmmaker that fails to capitalize on any of its obvious promises.
It’s never a good sign when you’re checking your watch during a film — especially a film built on the inherently entertaining elevator pitch of “Jason Statham fights massive prehistoric sharks!” — but audiences will likely find themselves doing just that during...

James Cameron has won Oscar gold and traveled 2,000+ fathoms through his love of the Titanic, but the director is assuring everyone that he will never make a movie about OceanGate’s Titan, the submersible that imploded last month leaving all five onboard dead.
James Cameron took to Twitter over the weekend to let everyone know, “I don’t respond to offensive rumors in the media usually, but I need to now. I’m Not in talks about an OceanGate film, nor will I ever be.”

Los Angeles, July 16 (Ians) ‘Titanic’ director James Cameron has shot down the ‘offensive’ rumours that he will be making a film on the recent Titan submersible tragedy which was reported by several U.K publishers.
As reported by ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, The Sun had first reported the anonymously sourced story which claimed that the Oscar-winning director was in talks with a major streamer to helm a movie or series about the ill-fated final Titan voyage, which claimed the lives of five people.
Taking to Twitter, the ‘Avatar’ director said, “I don’t respond to offensive rumors in the media usually, but I need to now. I’m Not in talks about an OceanGate film, nor will I ever be.”
The source at The Sun had earlier reported, “The Titan disaster is already being looked at as a major series for one of the world’s biggest streamers — and James is first choice for director.

James Cameron is one of the world’s preeminent filmmakers largely thanks to the record-smashing, awards-grabbing success of 1997’s “Titanic” — but don’t expect a deep-sea follow-up covering June’s OceanGate submersible tragedy anytime soon.
Responding to online rumors that he’s attached himself to a film project covering the so-called “Titan” submersible’s tragic undersea implosion while on a tourist expedition to view Titanic ruins on June 18 — an event that left five dead, including controversial OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush — Cameron heatedly said that there is no such project in the works. This Star Trek: Picard article contains spoilers.
In 1994, the finale of Star Trek: The Next Generation was titled “All Good Things…” and now that ellipsis has been completed, with the inevitable phrase “…must come to an end.” In the series finale of Picard one era of the franchise very clearly comes to an end, while sneakily setting up a very hypothetical next next generation, too. Although the future of Star Trek in the 25th century remains unclear, and the franchise is once again expanding in other directions, it seems that for now, the story of the 1990s era has come to a close.

Star Trek Intro Is Episode-Specific
After launching a boiler-plate Star Trek intro...
But the end of an era doesn’t mean the end of excellent callbacks to this golden age of Star Trek shows. Here are the biggest easter eggs, references, and shout-outs in “The Last Generation.”

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Episode 10
All good things must come to an end. Even the things we might wish wouldn’t. Such is the case with Star Trek: Picard, a series that, to put it mildly, struggled to find a coherent identity and purpose during its first two seasons, but which blossomed in its third and did so by finally embracing the very legacy it at first tried so hard to run away from. I’m as surprised as anyone to find myself wishing this story could last just a little bit longer, that we could somehow spend a little bit more time with these people, that we didn’t have to say goodbye to this piece of Star Trek: The Next Generation, grown older alongside us in rich and fascinating ways.
Look: If you, as a viewer, haven’t been enjoying the...

“I have been, and always shall be… an asshole.”
No, those weren’t the last words of Captain Liam Shaw, so sadly cut down at the height of his popularity in the penultimate episode of Star Trek: Picard‘s third season. In his last moments, Shaw does something much more satisfying, on a personal and TV show level, by turning command of the USS Titan over to Seven of Nine — using her true name, not Annika Hansen.
Seven’s eventual captaincy has been a frequent point of speculation since the season began with the one-time Borg back in Starfleet. Previous seasons of Picard had presented Seven as a member of the Fenris Rangers, a non-Federation-sanctioned vigilante group devoted to protecting the innocent and avenging wrongs. When that duty drove Seven to dual-wield phasers to gun down the criminal Bjayzl and her...

What’s behind the red door? No matter how much Star Trek: Picard keeps insisting that we’ll soon learn the truth about Jack Crusher, the son of Beverly Crusher and Jean-Luc Picard, the show keeps moving the goalposts, shoving the explanation off to the next episode. Unsurprisingly, the internet has filled in the gaps with their own theories. One of the latest would bring back one of the most mysterious villains from Deep Space Nine: the Pah-wraiths.
For those who don’t recall, the Pah-wraiths are the evil counterparts to the Prophets, central figures in the Bajoran religion. Where Bajorans worship the Prophets for their benevolent guidance, they fear the Pah-wraiths for their destructive meddling. Through Benjamin Sisko‘s encounters with the Prophets, we learn that they are not gods, but an alien race living in the wormhole outside of Bajor.

In the animated short film "COLORs," one of five created for Toho Animation's 10th anniversary, a high school girl discovers that her classmate presents as a woman outside of school. She follows them around the city, from a coffee shop to a festival to a forest bursting with fall colors. When they announce one day that they are transferring elsewhere, the girl is overcome with sorrow.
She leaves her apartment to go find them, perhaps to tell them how she really feels. But then, out of nowhere, a warning siren rings. The city bursts into flames as a great sphere hangs in the sky. Soldiers engage the unseen enemy. Amidst the chaos, the girl finds her former classmate and embraces her. Her classmate kisses her on the forehead, and then joins the army.

The easter egg game is afoot! As was true with Picard’s easter egg bonanza from a few weeks ago, episode 8, “Surrender,” uses callbacks and references in such a way that you can’t actually figure out how the plot would work without this stuff. We know that the final two episodes of Picard season 3 will surely be packed beyond belief with references and Trekkie surprises, but for now, in “Surrender,” the references pack a punch because they make the plot happen.
Here are the best easter eggs and references in episode 8:
Vadic Smoking on the Bridge
Although it’s possible this isn’t an intentional reference, Vadic smoking one of her dusty shapeshifter cigarettes on the bridge of the Titan might be a shout-out to The Wrath of Khan. In that movie, at the very start, there are signs on the...

When Japanese manga-ka Hajime Isayama first wrote and illustrated "Attack on Titan" for serialized monthly publication in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine, he had no idea that it would go on to become an international mega-hit. Basing the manga storyline on a one-shot prototype he had written when he was 19, Isayama spent years fleshing out the dangerous, combat-prone world of "Attack on Titan," where massive, man-eating beasts named Titans terrorize and devour humans. Isayama took inspiration for these giant humanoid antagonists from various sources — some aspects were a natural evolution of his pre-school sketches, while others were inspired by contemporary serialized manga, including Tsutomu Nihei's "Knights of Sidonia." However, in a 2014 interview with culture magazine Brutus, Isayama clarified that his Titans were based on Mma-themed magazines, along with several real-life WWE and UFC fighters, and mixed-martial artists.
As Isayama's Titans stand out due to their massive, rugged appearance and enhanced physicality,...

The third season of Star Trek: Picard continues to be a reunion tour for ’90s Star Trek characters. We’ve already had most of the cast from The Next Generation, and even secondary character Ro Laren shockingly appeared in episode 5, “Imposters.” We also have Worf, who technically can also represent Deep Space Nine, as well as the Changelings.
But what about Voyager? In addition to bringing Seven of Nine into the main cast, Picard finally gives Voyager its due with a cameo from Tim Russ as the Vulcan Tuvok. Remember Mr. Vulcan? He’s back! In Changeling form!
Tim Russ Returns as Captain Tuvok
While Voyager remains a divisive show among fans, most agree that Russ’ performance as Tuvok is one of the highlights. Over the seven seasons of Voyager, Tuvok established himself as the ultimate Vulcan, a devotee of his people’s emphasis on logic,...

If you only know Star Trek through its movies and TV shows, then the USS Titan might not seem like a big deal. After all, the ship only first appeared in the finale of Lower Decks season one, not even three years ago, despite first being referenced all the way back in 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis. But to fans of the expanded universe of books and comics that stretches beyond the big and small screens, the Titan has a long and illustrious history, under the command of Captain William T. Riker. In fact, 15 novels have been published in the Star Trek: Titan franchise, chronicling the adventures of Captain Riker, his wife Counsellor Troi, and the crew of their Luna-class ship.

In just about every way, the third and final season of “Star Trek: Picard” is both about looking back and moving forward. In addition to reuniting the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise from “The Next Generation” for the first time since 2002’s “Star Trek: Nemesis,” it also features a new starship on which most of the action takes place: the U.S.S. Titan, first seen in animated form on “Star Trek: Lower Decks” and now refit as a Neo-Constitution Class Starship.
For showrunner, executive producer and self-professed “Star Trek” fan Terry Matalas, the inspiration for a retro-looking starship came while he was shopping for a car. “I missed a proper saucer section on the top part of a starship, and I couldn’t help but notice how many cars have gone retro these days. And I remember, as I was driving around, I thought, ‘What if Starfleet did that?...

In the first two seasons of "Star Trek: Picard," many Trekkies may have sensed something was amiss. While those seasons did feature Picard (Patrick Stewart) commanding a group of rogues that might be said to resemble an ersatz "crew," they weren't in uniforms, and -- quite noticeably -- they weren't operating from the bridge of a starship. All of the Trek shows up to that point had been explicitly about the operations of Starfleet, and each series was essentially a workplace show about the staff of either a Federation vessel or a Bajoran space station. "Picard," in removing the "home base" element, emerged as a different dramatic entity altogether. It was a violent ensemble mystery show. For many Trekkies, that didn't ever quite feel correct.

Plot: After receiving a cryptic, urgent distress call from Dr. Beverly Crusher, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard enlists help from generations old and new to embark on one final adventure: a daring mission that will change Starfleet, and his old crew forever.
Review: When the first season of Star Trek: Picard debuted, I gave it a glowing review. I had only seen the first episodes of the season, and while I liked the entirety of it, I was underwhelmed by the uneven ending. The same thing happened for season two: I loved the return of more Next Generation characters, and the early episodes I was given were great, but the season did not stick the landing. I went into the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard cautiously optimistic but prepared to be underwhelmed as I was twice before. Thankfully, this season pivots entirely away from the two that came before...

Experimenting on human beings sounds like the stuff of which conspiracies and science fiction stories are made, and that’s why The Titan isn’t a total loss since it does stand out as a movie that, like many others, shows why the human imagination can be a dangerous thing, especially when paired with ego and unlimited expense account. When Rick and his family end up moving to a compound to find a method by which to help humans survive on Titan, the only place that is found to be amenable to human life in any way, it becomes obvious that the

Even in a throwback, Star Trek needs to boldly go. After twenty episodes of adventuring around the galaxy with a crew of mostly new faces, the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard finally brings the titular Starfleet officer back to his erstwhile crew. But rather than completely retread the beloved Star Trek: The Next Generation, Picard will find new ways for the heroes to explore the galaxy. Most surprisingly, the series will take place not on a newer version of the U.S.S. Enterprise, the setting for all seven seasons and four movies of Next Generation, but on an upgraded model of the U.S.S. Titan.
“So, in the trailer, you see our hero ship of season three,” showrunner Terry Matalas told TrekMovie. “It’s actually a class that’s called, in Starfleet slang, the Neo-Constitution class or Constitution III.” For casual Trek viewers, the name Titan probably means nothing.

The first full trailer for the third season of "Star Trek: Picard" was released today, the 56th anniversary of the U.S. premiere of the original "Star Trek." The third season of "Picard" has already been announced as the show's last, and it will see the return of more familiar faces from "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Patrick Stewart will return as the title character, and Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner have also already appeared on "Picard." Joining them will be LeVar Burton, Gates McFadden, and Michael Dorn. Apart from Wil Wheaton (who did reprise his role as Wesley Crusher in "Picard" last season) and Denise Crosby, all of the central cast members from "Tng" will return.

Quaid’s third season voicing the Starfleet ensign launched on Paramount+ on Thursday, but as Quaid and co-star Tawny Newsome (who voices Ens. Beckett Mariner) announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July, both actors will get to play the roles in live-action for the first time in a Season 2 episode of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” in 2023. The actor explained to Variety how the episode was possible, why he’s proud of Boimler in Season 3 of “Lower Decks,” how his character on “The Boys” will react to the big reveal in the Season 3 finale and what he did for the cast of “The Boys” spinoff series “Gen V.”

“Nightbreed” is a movie I’d wanted to see for many years. I’m not in a minority. I have the excuse that I missed its initial limited theatrical run and simply never got round to seeing it. Later, whenever I went to hire it from the video store on its VHS release , it was always rented out- no doubt due to its then blossoming cult status. However, those that did see it initially also desperately wanted to see it again. By that I mean that the print that was first shown in theatres and released for home entertainment wasn’t even close to the vision director and author Clive Barker had for the project. It was, as many classics have been, butchered as unsympathetically as the creatures the film celebrated by those “above” who simply didn’t understand or care. This is touched upon in Arrow...

For anyone fearing that the new Robotech: Remix comic will be headed up by a new creative team, don’t worry. A hardcore fan is at the helm. Writer Brenden Fletcher, known for his work in comics such as Gotham Academy, Batgirl, Isola, and Motorcrush loves Robotech.
Not just the Macross Saga like many more casual fans. He loves anything and everything to do with the franchise, including the various Japanese series that spun out of Macross and the original versions of the three anime that made up Robotech. Even thought Fletcher is a big fan that doesn’t mean he’s sticking too close to what we’ve seen before. Robotech: Remix will be making big changes to the Robotech franchise that comes in the wake of recent events in the comic.
