Hard to follow.

I loved the first two episodes, this one had me scratching my head all the way through, they jumped about, making it very difficult to follow. On the plus side we learn more about the charismatic Gardie, and it's worth pointing out that the production values are absolutely superb, this really does manage to transport the viewer back to the 1970's.

I watched it twice, and I still found it a bit over complicated. 5/10

Episode 1.3

Chan-wook Park stages a wonderful period set piece of the red Mercedes making its way on a journey and then exploding. It underpins this episode.

It is all elaborately staged by Kurtz to blow up Salim and Anna who were responsible for the bombing in the start of the first episode.

Kurtz is hoping that Salim's death will flush out their real target. His older brother Khalil.

Becker is still unconvincing as he plans to become Salim. Charlie is in with Kurtz and Becker, she drove the Mercedes and dropped it off.

It is stylish, dense and John Le Carre is not a writer who would just slant his story towards the Israeli viewpoint. He is well aware of the complexities surrounding this contentious issue.

Despite Park's best efforts the series is just not fizzling enough.
