Despite not being a fan of the comic book series this show is based on, the first three episodes have been great so far. Pacing issues aside, they established how the Umbrella Academy became the dysfunctional sibling superheroes and provided some great writing and superb acting from everyone involved. Man on the Moon continues the story really well and is another great episode to the promising 1st season.
Much like the earlier episodes, the pacing is uneven and could've been tighter. That being said, everything else is great. The story continues to be thought-provoking and continues to flesh out the backstories of the Umbrella Academy especially Number Four who had to practice overcoming his fears in the dark as a child. While Robert Sheehan continues to deliver on the comedy, his scenes of him being interrogated by the Commission agents Cha Cha and Hazel show his expressions of being tortured (an example of how the actor has come so far). The acting is still superb from everyone involved, the production design still looks appealing, the music score is still nice, and the editing is still great.
Overall, Man on the Moon is another episode that continues the world-building perfectly. Thumbs up.
