During the climax of Richard Marquand's 1983 film "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi," the evil Empire's second Death Star was destroyed by the Rebel Army, the ghoulish Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) was killed, and his right-hand warlock Darth Vader (David Prowse) died in the conflagration. It seemed that evil had been vanquished and that everything was well in the galaxy. For many, many years, fans didn't see what happened after that film, presumably because a new era of peace had begun and the Star Wars were over.
It wasn't until the release of J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in 2015 that we learned the dark truth. It seems the universe of "Star Wars" can't help but creep back slowly toward fascism with every generation. This Star Wars: Ahsoka article contains spoilers.
So much of Ahsoka‘s third episode feels like classic Star Wars, from Sabine’s blind training nodding back to A New Hope to the space battle that combines elements from both the Original and Prequel Trilogies for one of the best dogfights ever made for Disney+. But that doesn’t mean Ahsoka has skipped out on bringing back a bunch of stuff from Rebels this time around. In fact, one major cameo allows this Disney+ series to pick up exactly where its animated predecessor left off.
Here are all the Star Wars easter eggs and callbacks we spotted in “Time to Fly”:
Evan Whitten as Jacen Syndulla
There was never any doubt that Jacen Syndulla would pop up in Ahsoka, but we definitely didn’t expect to see this little dude so soon. Introduced in the final minutes of the Rebels...

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: Ahsoka" episode 3 — "Time to Fly"
"Ahsoka" moved the plot forward quite a bit in its third episode, titled "Time to Fly." We saw Ahsoka Tano take to training Sabine Wren as her Jedi apprentice once again, lots of epic space battle action, and even some Purrgil, aka the space whales from "Star Wars Rebels," in live-action. It was a lot, and it feels like the return of both Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn is right around the corner. But one character's absence looms particularly large after this latest episode, and that's Leia Organa. So we must ask the question, where is Leia during the events taking place in this show?
In terms of the overall "Star Wars" timeline, "Ahsoka" takes place around 8 or 9 Aby, or after the Battle of Yavin, which takes place during "A New Hope." So, essentially, we're a handful...

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: Ahsoka" episode 3 — "Time to Fly"Things are kicking into high gear in part 3 of "Ahsoka." Directed again by Steph Green and written by Dave Filoni, the episode shows the inertia faced by the New Republic when it comes to taking any military action beyond the end of the war. Few seem to believe that Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) could be a threat to the New Republic, and others still think that the specter of Thrawn is just Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth-Winstead) trying to nab all the resources she can get to go on a selfish mission to look for her lost friend, Ezra Bridger (Emen Esfandi). While Hera spends her time arguing with Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), the Chancellor of the Republic, another journey is underway. Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson), Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), and Huyang (David Tennant) travel to Seatos in...

While Andor takes place before the Death Star is destroyed, the latest Star Wars spinoff series, Ahsoka, focuses on the New Republic after the fall of the Galactic Empire.
Rosario Dawson plays Ahsoka Tano, a former Padawan of Anakin Skywalker who walks away from the order after the Clone Wars. After cameos in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, the former Jedi Knight investigates a rising threat in the new Disney+ original series.

After The Skywalker Saga ended in 2019 with “The Rise of Skywalker,” Lucasfilm shifted its attention to the small screen and the Disney+ streaming service.
There had already been two successful animated series: “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels.” 2019 marked the debut of the first live-action “Star Wars” series, “The Mandalorian.”
It followed the adventures of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), a Mandalorian bounty hunter tasked with protecting a very precious piece of cargo — a Force-wielding foundling named Grogu (affectionately called Baby Yoda).
A slew of live-action shows followed, and their entries in the Star Wars Universe and timeline may be confusing. But fear not. TheWrap will guide you through them better than a Sith wayfinder.
With “Ahsoka” arriving on Disney+, here’s how to watch the Star Wars shows in order. And for hardcore fans, we show how to watch the shows and feature films in order.

Star Wars Celebration 2023 has so far been especially exciting for fans of the animated side of the universe. "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels" creator Dave Filoni was revealed to be directing a live-action "Star Wars" movie, set between the events of "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens." And while the film is still in early development, Filoni also brought a brand new trailer for his upcoming live-action series "Ahsoka," which will continue the storyline of "Star Wars Rebels."
When animated properties in the "Star Wars" universe make a jump into live-action, it tends to make big waves. Sometimes, though, those ripples into live-action can be a lot more subtle. When a show based on a character like Ahsoka Tano comes out, it's no surprise that we'll be seeing animated characters from her past adventures. Gotham Knights might look like an Arkham game, but the new action-adventure title is actually a completely new Batman adventure that even features a new cast of characters and voice actors.
We’ll have a lot to say about Gotham Knights in the coming days, but the quality of the game’s cast really is one of the game’s greatest assets. This is a slightly deeper dive into the Batman roster than we’re used to seeing in games, which means that the game gives us the chance to spend some time with some faces we’re not always used to seeing. Of course, it’s the voices of those characters as much as their faces that really sell how much they belong to be the stars of an unlikely Gotham adventure.

So therefore, I’m not gonna do that because I’m representing this character.”
On this edition of the Variety Awards Circuit podcast, Fishback talks about “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey,” and working with Jackson, as well as her take on the character, playing teenage roles even as she enters her 30s, her interest in astrology and how she’s enjoying her success. Later in this episode, “Mr. Mayor” star Bobby Moynihan on the joys of his ensemble comedy, which sadly was just canceled on Thursday as this episode made it to air.

The Legend Of Vox MacHina is an animated fantasy adventure for adult viewers – especially those who groove on Dungeons and Dragons and similar forays into the realms of magical creatures with special powers clashing over their various kingdoms, planets, etc. I am not one of them, but still enjoyed the heck out the first six episodes of this new series on Amazon Prime.
A diverse little band of mercenaries who really can’t fully get along with each other, undertake quests for profit. Some of them are too bawdy for prime-time; the language is salty, and the action sequences can be pretty elaborate. There’s even a bit of nudity on the menu. If they have backstories from other media, I don’t know what it is, and fellow newbies won’t need it to dive right in. The first episode establishes the tone and defines the players quite nicely,...

After Gina Carano got fired by Lucasfilm, an abundance of “The Mandalorian” fans on social media immediately started championing Lucy Lawless to take over the role of Cara Dune. Lawless is an action icon thanks to her role as the title character on “Xena: Warrior Princess.” Carano played Cara Dune on the first two seasons of the Disney+ Emmy winner, but she was let go after a series of social media controversies, from mocking transgender pronouns to comparing the U.S. political divide to Nazi Germany. Lawless revealed to Metro that she was actually circling a different “Star Wars”-adjacent role at the time of Carano’s firing, and she said the fans urging for her “Mandalorian” casting might’ve cost her a trip to a galaxy far, far away.

Elijah Wood knows a thing or two about big movie franchises. The actor has enjoyed a lengthy, illustrious career but will likely forever be known for portraying lead hobbit Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.
So, as you might imagine, when Wood stopped by Entertainment Tonight to discuss his latest film, Ted Bundy story No Man of God, the saga of Middle-Earth came up. What’s more interesting, however, is that Wood was also up for discussing other big franchises he is interested in, including Star Wars, in which he has already provided his voice to the character of Jace Rucklin in Star Wars Resistance.
“I think that’s just inherently fun,” Wood said. “I haven’t had a chance to play in a giant sandbox in a while…Star Wars gets precedent because I’m a huge Star Wars fan. So more of that,...

Mike and Sulley are back and now in charge of turning scares into laughter in the first trailer for Disney+’s Pixar series “Monsters at Work.”
The Disney+ series takes place after the events of “Monsters, Inc.,” when the power plant started harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike and Sulley’s discovery that laughter generates 10 times more energy than screams.
“Monsters at Work” will premiere on Wednesday, July 7.
The series stars Ben Feldman as Tylor Tuskmon, an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a Scarer until he lands a job at Monsters, Incorporated, and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in. “The Mandalorian” cast members such as Ming-Na Wen and Katee Sackhoff took to social media to celebrate the announcement that Dave Filoni is now the executive creative director of Lucasfilm. The promotion actually went into effect last summer, Variety reports, but it wasn’t until the studio updated its website with Filoni’s new title this week that “Star Wars” fans realized Filoni has more creative power at Lucasfilm than ever before. Per Variety: “Filoni’s title as executive creative director captures the complicated role of overseeing both individual series and a larger storyline that weaves together several shows.”
Filoni is beloved among “Star Wars” fans, as George Lucas selected him in 2005 to run “The Clone Wars,” the animated series that started its run in 2008 and lasted seven seasons. Filoni went on to create three more animated series, “Star Wars Rebels,” “Star Wars Resistance,” and, most recently, “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,...

The Force is strong with Dave Filoni. And so, it seems, is Twitter.
Last summer, Lucasfilm quietly promoted the executive producer and frequent writer and director of “The Mandalorian” to executive creative director for the entire studio, a rep confirms with Variety. But the company didn’t update its website with Filoni’s new title until this week, which is when it began to percolate, and then explode, across Reddit and Twitter, as if the promotion had just happened.

In the first trailer for the series, released on Tuesday, it appears those singular exceptional skills are literally defined by each character’s name: Hunter is a skilled fighter, Echo is a cyborg that can interface with the team’s ship, Tech is, naturally, the tech guy, Wrecker likes to destroy things and Crosshair strikes from a distance.
