Lovely Film
GWKH11 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A difficult subject treated with warmth and humour. Even though the film deals with cancer as a central theme the tone is upbeat throughout with the laughs coming naturally from the relationships between the two leads as both adults and teenagers. Spoiler alert (!!!)- there is a twist (which you can see coming) but the film isnt about the twist it is about the journey the two lead character Ben and Mark make.

The OCD element of hand washing seems very prescient given the current pandemic and it is good to see the NHS central in the film - and the value of the NHS to the two leads.

It is also refreshing to see a film shot entirely in the North West. The film is shot in a documentary style which suits the road movie element of the film. A lovely score too by Craig Potter from the band Elbow.

I attended the online premiere and a portion of profits will go to two cancer related charities- Teenage Cancer Trust and Weston Park Hospital which is laudable.

An excellent upbeat British film

I don't often give up on a film but I couldn't finish this one
BlueLightAlarm11 February 2021
I don't often give up on a film before the end, it's only happened a handful of times in my whole life. This was one film I just couldn't finish.

The plot seems like a good idea, the people acting in it have been really good in other things. It's Matthew McNulty's character, Mark who I have a massive problem with and who made me turn the film off. He's meant to be a doctor but doesn't behave like any doctor I have ever known. He behaves more like a conman pretending to be a doctor. Don't get me wrong, McNulty did a great job with the script he was given. Just a shame it was a terrible script.

I also have reservations about Andrew Gower, a neurotypical person playing a character with so much neurodivergence. It just didn't sit right

Headstrong and passionate

A fantastic experience delivered from an indie production. Running Naked starts off with a literal and quite funny hook, that simmers down into a mundane and purely expositional opener. However, Running Naked manages to pull us back with some absolutely fantastic and emotional plot devices that for some of the film I was out of my seat. Its hard to credit any single thing about this film as it all gels together so brilliantly. You quickly forget the stale situation of the protagonists and become drawn in to their journey, in search for the future by accepting the past. Running Naked is definitely worth the watch!

Stupid and lame
droopyn28 February 2021
I don't understand how you can rate it above 3 or 4. I still hesitate between Stupid and Lame...or whether the movie is more stupid than lame, or the other way around. Anyway, if you like empty movie, it is for you. If you prefer good acting and good scenario, try "The Queen's Gambit" and if you want something simple but refreshing, try "The Spacewalker" (better to watch it in Russian with subtitle:"Vremya pervykh")

Refreshing New Film
simonbooth935024 February 2021
What a great film!

I always think that a smaller budget makes the story that much more important. I have had my fill of high value productions that rely on either a star name or a load of CGI.

This takes things back to basics - good story, good acting and a great plot.

It has humour, plays with your emotions and a great ending. Definitely worth an hour and a half of your time - you won't be disappointed!

Brilliant film and such an emotional journey
Greatupnorth16 February 2021
Great to see films made in the UK and especially up North, Stoke, Manchester and Derbyshire. The cast did an excellent job making this film so real and moving but with comedy, their honesty and integrity made this a treat to watch again and again.

I work with a lot of people who suffer from OCD and it's refreshing to have a character portrayed accurately, movingly but in a humorous way too! The actors, the story and the scenery were breathtakingly captivating. I really enjoyed it. Thank you.

An excellent, inspiring film.
kinggeorgev119 February 2021
This film is excellent because it had world class actors and director and it was also very well written. I thought it was inspiring for those who had defeated cancer and those who are fighting it, it was excellent and inspiring, so therefore I award this amazing film, full marks

Loved this film!
muggsy-1506122 February 2021
A real human film, down to earth, emotional, uplifting and really really well made. Great actors, great production, great script. Some funny moments that show you need to have humour ("always look on the bright side!") when dealing with a major illness. And putting aside the storyline about The Big C, it's simply a great story about friendship....... give it a watch! Now!

Lovely story of friendship
jackie-omalley17 January 2021
Great story of the bond formed by two young lads going through cancer treatment and how their friendship endures when both handle it in very different ways. Great performances by Andrew Gower and Matthew McNulty.

Testing Your Range of Emotions
ruthspiers5 February 2021
A heart warming and humorous story about a friendship formed by teenagers with cancer. The film manages to feel light while tackling a serious subject. As the boys become men it is apparent that there have been long term consequences, for both males, of having looked into the face of a potential early death. An interesting story line. Crazy action and beautifully written human interactions. A must watch!

Running Naked
gertbucket8 February 2021
Well! What more can I say that hasn't been said already? Utterly fantastic, beautifully shot, and tremendous performances from all cast, especially Andrew Gower and Mathew McNulty. A very at times moving journey of true friendship and love, formed from cancer and highlights cancer and what it does and that there is much hope. I laughed. I cried. I was at times on the edge of my seat, and my stomach was in my throat! A real must watch, this film deserves to go far and wide! It was however a shame that the lady that played the mum was not credited, even though she played more of a part than a passerby. Maybe a credit given where it's due?

A moving and beautifully told Story.
normawarden9 February 2021
This lovely film kept us glued to the screen throughout. It was about two best friends, one had terminal cancer, one did not. They had both already dealt with cancer as teenagers which had created a lasting bond between them. The antics they got up to , both in the past and in the present time was very funny and the whole story flowed between the laughter, mischief and of course, the serious problem of a life coming to a close. The acting was first rate, performed with smooth sensitivity and liveliness. A brilliant cast indeed leaving us with a long lasting impression of these beautiful people and their heartwarming story.

Loved this film! Such an emotional topic but filmed in such a way that it was sensitive and heart warming with the addition of comedy. Very clever.
