On Sunday night, Kanye West brought Jesus Is King: A Kanye West Experience, his impromptu album-plus documentary premiere event, to New York. What he played — a working version of Jesus Is King — is incomplete. The event itself, announced with mere hours’ notice (though West’s fans didn’t seem to mind), was equally unrehearsed. The security guards at United Palace, an ornate venue in Harlem, lamented the fact that they knew almost nothing about the night’s proceedings; the Yeezy faithful who arrived in search of answers only left with...

Having a woman in the late-night talk show space is rare. Having a woman of color in the late-night talk show space is even rarer. That’s why Lilly Singh is changing the game and shaking up the status quo with NBC’s A Little Late With Lilly Singh — and she stopped by the New Hollywood Podcast to talk to us all about it.
Singh’s show, which premiered last night, took over the time slot originally occupied by Last Call with Carson Daly. As a pioneering YouTuber, Singh talked to us about her upbringing as a child of South Asian immigrants in Canada and her path to YouTube stardom.
As a trailblazer in the online world, Singh is now transitioning into television — but still plans to bring inflections of her “Superwoman” brand to her new talk show (read our review of her debut episode here). She talked to us...

NBC is set to win its sixth straight September-to-September season in the key 18-49 demo’s TV ratings, while CBS will be the victor during that same 52-week span in terms of total viewers.
Nielsen winners like “Sunday Night Football,” “This Is Us” Season 3, competition series “The Voice” and “America’s Got Talent” and freshman dramas “Manifest” and “New Amsterdam” helped NBC land the new ratings trophy.
CBS is poised to win this 52-week round in overall eyeballs, reclaiming that title from NBC, which dominated the last September-to-September viewers race thanks to Super Bowl Lii and the 2018 Olympics. CBS had the Super Bowl this time around, and also took this year’s traditional TV season — which runs September to May — in total viewers.

Lilly Singh made her late-night debut very early Tuesday with her new NBC talk show, “A Little Late With Lilly Singh,” which put up steady ratings compared to her predecessor, Carson Daly’s, last call on the network — and his final season averages.
At 1:35 a.m., the first episode of Singh’s series, which featured guest Mindy Kaling, averaged a 0.6 rating/3 share in metered-market households, NBC’s best Monday rating in the time period with regular programming since April 1 (0.7).
“A Little Late’s” debut also received a 0.2/2 among the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic in the 25 markets with local people meters, maintaining 100% of its lead-in. That stat equals the network’s best Monday rating in the time slot with regular programming since June 18, 2018 (0.3).
