Though he is not credited as such since he already appears in the lead role of Nick Navarro, actor Steve Cedillos also appears in the short film video that is at the center of the movie's plot, along with actors Audrey Stanzler, Andrew Trask, Vonnie Rhee, Brian Fowler, Brad Powell, and writer, director, and producer, Eric Nemoto, who are all listed as their respective characters with the attribute of archive footage. Cedillos served as executive producer of the original video, which was written and directed by Jon Brekke, and filmed in 1998 over the course of 10 days, in Woodland Hills, California, where Gerry Marzocco served as director of photography, and Colin Crane, was first cameraman. This video was shot well before the transition from film to digital, and so as alluded to in the movie, given the high cost of film at the time, which took up most of the production budget's expenditures, the great majority of scenes captured in the video were shot in one take.
