Anthony Anderson is teaming up with his mother, Doris Bowman aka Mama Doris, in Fox’s latest competition series We Are Family, and he’s excited (and possibly nervous) to hear what she’s got to say.
Anderson and Bowman replaced Jamie Foxx and his daughter Corinne in the series, which launches January 3 and comes from Fox Alternative Entertainment and Apploff Entertainment.
The series showcases non-famous relatives of celebrities performing duets with their hidden famous family member. It features a studio audience composed of 100 contestants playing through multiple rounds of clues and gameplay to win up to $150,000 each by correctly guessing which celebrity the performer is related to before they are revealed.
We Are Family is not the first time that Anderson and his mother have worked together. Doris went viral after an appearance on Celebrity Family Feud, where her risqué answer stopped Steve Harvey in his tracks, and she...

“Mental Samurai” host Rob Lowe truly knows what it’s like for the Fox game show’s contestants competing on its second season, which premieres Tuesday. That’s because Lowe himself recently got in the hot seat to see how hard it is to answer timed questions while being spun around in the very expensive contraption the show lovingly refers to as Ava.

So we keep Ava down at around a three. So I get in Ava and I try to get them to goose it and,...

Exclusive: Rob Lowe is taking his giant robotic arm Ava for another spin after Fox renewed reality competition series Mental Samurai for a second season. Casting is underway now and Season 2 will premiere on April 22.
Rob Wade, Fox’s president of alternative entertainment and specials, said Mental Samurai is a “one-of-a-kind show that brilliantly marries intellect and physicality.” The A. Smith & Co. Productions, Warner Horizon Unscripted Television and Apploff Entertainment-produced show will return after Fox examined its ratings in the context of how similar shows performed last year.
“When the show launched, we looked at the ratings and they were Ok; it didn’t overperform, but we were proud of what we did,” Wade told Deadline at TCA last year. “As summer came and we saw how shows performed on all networks, it was obvious that actually, the [Mental Samurai] ratings were pretty solid.”
