Hell's Kitchen (2018)
Peter Scanavino: Detective Dominick 'Sonny' Carisi, Jr.
Quotes
-
Dominick Carisi Jr. : We checked Boykin's phone, and he was talking to his wife until the ride ended.
Olivia Benson : Okay, what about his Uber app?
Odafin Tutuola : She got picked up at 3:39 a.m. in front of 300 Orchard Street.
Amanda Rollins : [running a search] Which is a restaurant on the Lower East Side. Far Rockaway by Andrew.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Yeah, it's a high-end seafood joint. I actually took a date there once. Set me back a couple hundred bucks, but...
Amanda Rollins : Was it worth it?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Every cent.
Olivia Benson : Okay, so cut Boykin loose and check it out.
-
Dominick Carisi Jr. : All three women reported, but not a single arrest was made.
Peter Stone : Was there any corroboration? Witnesses? Rape kits?
Odafin Tutuola : If Liebowitz would have done this in Manhattan, we'd have his ass in a 6x8 cell.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Now, the only constant was this ADA, Chris Hodges. He caught all three cases, but he declined to prosecute each time.
Peter Stone : What do we know about him?
Odafin Tutuola : Boy wonder prosecutor in Brooklyn. Big in the Me Too movement.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Yeah, he runs some kind of victims advocacy group.
Odafin Tutuola : Rumor is he's gunning to run for Kings County D.A.
-
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Did Andrew ever take anything from you?
Lauren : Take anything?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Yeah, like, uh, an article of clothing.
Lauren : Oh. My thong. How did you know that?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Because unfortunately, Lauren, you weren't alone.
Lauren : That's even worse. I'm stuck working in this dive bar because Andrew blacklisted me, and he's walking around a free man?
-
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Andrew Liebowitz, stand up. Put your hands behind your back.
Andrew Liebowitz : Whoa, what's wrong with you? I'm still out on bail.
Peter Stone : Yeah, not anymore.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Yeah, your pal here was wearing a wire.
Andrew Liebowitz : You son of a bitch.
Olivia Benson : Well, you're next, counselor.
ADA Hodges : Well, you believe that scumbag?
Olivia Benson : I believe Bethany. Your little rape partner corroborated her.
Andrew Liebowitz : Don't you dare come near me. Don't you dare touch me.
Odafin Tutuola : I'm gonna do more than that if you don't put your hands behind your back.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Separate cars?
Odafin Tutuola : Yeah, that's a good idea.
-
Michael Boykin : I didn't do anything to that girl.
Odafin Tutuola : Then why'd she tee off on you?
Michael Boykin : Ask her. I'm the victim here!
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Yeah, well, those officers seemed to think that she was pretty pissed off at you about something.
Michael Boykin : I barely touched her.
Odafin Tutuola : You tore her blouse!
Michael Boykin : She's saying I did that?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Well, let's... let's just assume that she did.
Michael Boykin : Then she's a liar! Wait, you think I tried to rape her? I... I'll give you a DNA. Take... take a lie detector, anything!
-
Andrew Liebowitz : You guys wanna try a Montrachet? I spent two months in Cote de Beaune studying the terroir. This bottle was the pinnacle of organic viticulture. Plus, it's kosher.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : You know what? We're on duty.
Andrew Liebowitz : That's too bad. This stuff goes for $800 a bottle.
Odafin Tutuola : Hit me.
[Andy serves him a glass, and he takes a sip]
Odafin Tutuola : Tastes like warm apple juice.
Andrew Liebowitz : Hints of Granny Smith. I'll put that in my tasting notes.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Okay, so what did Kayla do after she was done helping you down here?
Andrew Liebowitz : You gotta try this Vermentino.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Hey, excuse me. Can we just get a minute of your undivided attention, please?
-
Andrew Liebowitz : I love cops. You guys are solid citizens. Not like these hedge fund pricks and airhead models that I have to deal with in this place. I'm all about authenticity; it's why I started Far Rockaway. And it all began with a glass of Manischewitz and a plate of gefilte fish in my mother's kitchen in Queens.
Odafin Tutuola : Well, how about this for authenticity: we have reason to believe Kayla was sexually assaulted here last night.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Yeah, and you were the last person that she was with.
Andrew Liebowitz : Wait a minute. Is she saying that I...
[short laugh]
Andrew Liebowitz : Oh... that's what this is about?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Well, why don't you tell us? I mean, what happened down here?
Andrew Liebowitz : She asked me to pop a bottle, and I told her that I couldn't stop staring at her ass all night.
Odafin Tutuola : Interesting way to treat your employee.
Andrew Liebowitz : Then things got hot, okay? Consensual sex.
Odafin Tutuola : Yeah, well, when we found her, it didn't look consensual to us.
Andrew Liebowitz : Are you kidding me? Oh, she was begging for it. I banged her up against a crate of Bordeaux.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Did you also rip her shirt open?
Andrew Liebowitz : I buy the damn shirts. Look, this was not the first time that we screwed, even. If she's claiming that I raped her, this is some kind of shakedown.
-
Kayla Morgan : It wasn't all rose petals and fireworks, if that's what you're asking, but I am handling it.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Andrew said that it wasn't the first time that you two had...
Kayla Morgan : Okay, once at the Christmas party last year, but that was a mistake.
Amanda Rollins : But the other night, did he force you?
Kayla Morgan : What do you mean force?
Odafin Tutuola : Did you give consent?
Kayla Morgan : It's not a black and white thing. When Andrew started coming on to me, I tried playing it off. I even said no at one point. But he didn't stop.
Amanda Rollins : That sounds black and white to me.
Kayla Morgan : Oh, this is just how it is in the restaurant industry, okay? You wouldn't understand. I should have just kneed him in the balls.
Amanda Rollins : Kayla, it sounds like your boss raped you.
Kayla Morgan : It is not rape if I say it's not. Okay, look. I appreciate what you guys are trying to do here, okay? I really do, but just stay out of my life. Before you ruin it.
-
Amanda Rollins : Kayla told him no, but she refuses to say it was rape.
Peter Stone : What's Liebowitz saying? Did he admit to pressuring her?
Odafin Tutuola : He insists it was consensual, but no cameras, no witnesses.
Amanda Rollins : She's not gonna testify against him.
Peter Stone : And without a complaining witness, I can't move forward.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Well, hold on. Now, Liebowitz has no priors, but he does pop up on three separate 61s.
Odafin Tutuola : Here in Manhattan?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : No, Brooklyn SVU. These all happened in the past four years.
Amanda Rollins : Well, he's got a wine bar in Park Slope.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Yeah, three separate employees accused him of sexual assault.
Peter Stone : All right, talk to them. See if we can stir the pot.
-
Dominick Carisi Jr. : That looks delicious.
Andrew Liebowitz : What are you doing back here?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : I'm arresting you for the rape of Kayla Morgan.
Andrew Liebowitz : [to Kayla as he's led out] You ungrateful bitch. You're fired.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Where have I heard that before?
-
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Did you guys see this?
Amanda Rollins : What's that?
Odafin Tutuola : [seeing the front page of the New York Ledger] Somebody leaked our investigation.
Amanda Rollins : Stone?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : No, my money's on Liv.
Odafin Tutuola : Mine's on both.
-
Odafin Tutuola : The girl gets in your car, she's a hot mess, and you just keep driving?
Michael Boykin : I barely looked at her. I was on the phone with my wife the entire ride.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : You know we hate it when you guys do that, right?
Michael Boykin : I got to her destination and realized something's off. She was staring into space like a zombie, so I tried to shake her out of it. Help her out of my car. But the second I touched her, she attacked me like some lunatic.
-
Peter Stone : Liebowitz and Hodges went to high school together.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : That's why Hodges 86ed the prosecutions?
Peter Stone : They lived around the corner from each other. Hodges' mom said they used to drive to school together every day.
Amanda Rollins : I'm bumping on this. Hodges is all about victims' rights.
Odafin Tutuola : Don't believe the hype, Amanda.
Amanda Rollins : He even spoke at the Women's Day March.
Odafin Tutuola : That just makes him a hypocrite.
Amanda Rollins : So he'd risk his entire political career to help out this high school buddy of his?
Odafin Tutuola : Maybe there's something more to this.
-
Peter Stone : Did Hodges' name pop on any of Liebowitz's social media accounts?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : No, nothing.
Amanda Rollins : Where are you going with this?
Peter Stone : Well, this doesn't get us over the hump, but we know Liebowitz is a habitual offender.
Amanda Rollins : So there must be other women that he victimized besides the three in Brooklyn.
Peter Stone : He opened his Manhattan restaurant in 2013. Kayla can't be the first woman he assaulted in that wine cellar.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : There's not a single complaint in our database.
Odafin Tutuola : Maybe they're getting paid not to disclose. We should run full-court press on Liebowitz's financials.
Peter Stone : Right, social and corporate. Anything over three digits that isn't his mortgage.
-
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Liebowitz's backers put up all the cash for both his places.
Amanda Rollins : Well, he did make a contribution to Hodges' boss when she ran for D.A. in Brooklyn.
Odafin Tutuola : Rich gaming the system. Same as it ever was.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Yeah, maybe so, but if he ever paid a woman off to keep quiet, it is not in here.
Amanda Rollins : So, what's our next move?
Odafin Tutuola : We tell Liv and Stone his numbers are clean. And then we all go try and get six hours.
-
ADA Hodges : I'm done with your Andrew Liebowitz problem.
Olivia Benson : Yeah, well, that's not what this is about.
ADA Hodges : Then you'd better have a damn good reason for insisting I come up here.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : You better consider yourself lucky we didn't perp walk you out of your own office.
ADA Hodges : Perp walk? What the hell are you talking about?
Olivia Benson : The girl that you tried to rape in high school.
ADA Hodges : Excuse me?
Olivia Benson : Bethany Fisher?
ADA Hodges : Who?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Bethany Fisher. She was friends with Emily Holmes. That's a girl you went to high school with.
ADA Hodges : Yeah, I remember Emily. This Bethany person, I have no i... dea...
Olivia Benson : No idea?
ADA Hodges : Is this about a house party, like, fifteen years ago?
Dominick Carisi Jr. : You see? It's all coming back to you now, right?
ADA Hodges : No, but I know one thing for sure. I didn't touch that girl. That was Andrew.
Olivia Benson : Ah, that was fast.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : But you were there. You were in that bedroom, weren't you?
-
ADA Hodges : We were listening to music.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Mm-hmm.
ADA Hodges : And Andrew jumped on top of her and tried to take her clothes off.
Olivia Benson : And you just stood there and did nothing?
ADA Hodges : What are you talking about? I pushed him off her. If it wasn't for me, God knows...
Dominick Carisi Jr. : "If it wasn't for me." Would you spare us the self-righteous crap? We got two witnesses that say it was you.
ADA Hodges : Well, they've got it mixed up. I've never done anything like that, ever.
Dominick Carisi Jr. : Ever? So best-case scenario, you just kept your damn mouth shut and you covered your friend's ass?
ADA Hodges : Did you ever go to high school? That's the code. You have your friend's back. That's the way the world works.
Olivia Benson : Not anymore.
ADA Hodges : Yeah, and guess what? I'm part of the reason things are different now.
Olivia Benson : Or Bethany is telling the truth and you're not only the world's biggest hypocrite, but you're also a rapist.
ADA Hodges : That's laughable. Andrew's been making moves like this since he was old enough to shave.
Olivia Benson : Well...
ADA Hodges : Are you charging me?
Olivia Benson : That remains to be seen. But if you are telling the truth, then you had a chance to stand up for Bethany when you were seventeen years old. So one way or the other, you're gonna make this right.
