- Kate and Michael finish their work on Alice's case in France but are shocked when an indicted Rwandan and Congolese war criminal, Patrice Ganimana, implicated in the Genocide, arrives in the UK.
- With the final proof of her innocence, Alice Munezero has not only regained her freedom, now she also has new opportunities. The politician, celebrated as a heroine, could be a promising candidate for the presidential election. After Kate's and Michael's successful work, the next problem arises: Patrice Ganimana, an accomplice to the Rwandan genocide, suddenly shows up in Britain to have his brain tumor treated. Kate, Michael and the British justice system try everything to prosecute the criminal so that he gets his just punishment. In the process, they repeatedly come into conflict with his defense attorney Blake Gaines, who will stop at nothing to protect his client. When suddenly, intimidated, a large portion of the state's witnesses recant their testimony, Western justice threatens to fail and the case is shelved. Kate and Michael's relationship is thus thrown into a conflict of interest. Should the war criminal be extradited to stand trial in Rwanda? Michael does not want to risk that such a success could represent a triumph for the incumbent president, which would decide the elections in advance and leave Alice Munezero without a chance. For Kate, on the other hand, the most important thing is that Patrice Ganimana be convicted at any cost; after all, he is responsible for the genocide of her people. What is the price of justice?
